Diffusion Model of a Non-Integer Order PIγ Controller with TCP/UDP Streams

In this article, a way to employ the diffusion approximation to model interplay between TCP and UDP flows is presented. In order to control traffic congestion, an environment of IP routers applying AQM (Active Queue Management) algorithms has been introduced. Furthermore, the impact of the fractional controller PIγ and its parameters on the transport protocols is investigated. The controller has been elaborated in accordance with the control theory. The TCP and UDP flows are transmitted simultaneously and are mutually independent. Only the TCP is controlled by the AQM algorithm. Our diffusion model allows a single TCP or UDP flow to start or end at any time, which distinguishes it from those previously described in the literature.

A permutation test for the two-sample right-censored model

The paper presents a novel approach to solve a classical two-sample problem with right-censored data. As a result, an efficient procedure for verifying equality of the two survival curves is developed. It generalizes, in a natural manner, a well-known standard, that is, the log-rank test. Under the null hypothesis, the new test statistic has an asymptotic Chi-square distribution with one degree of freedom, while the corresponding test is consistent for a wide range of the alternatives. On the other hand, to control the actual Type I error rate when sample sizes are finite, permutation approach is employed for the inference. An extensive simulation study shows that the new test procedure improves upon classical solutions and popular recent developments in the field. An analysis of the real datasets is included. A routine, written in R, is attached as Supplementary Material.

     

Separation and purification of scandium: From industry to medicine

Scandium and its compounds are used in many modern industrial fields due to its unique chemical and physical properties. It is mainly recovered from residues and wastes in the production of other metals. The exploitation of the ores and wastes could contaminate water and soil creating environmental problems. This paper discusses recent developments and tendencies in scandium separation, purification and preconcentration from different wastes, residues, environmental samples as well as in the production of radiopharmaceuticals for nuclear medicine, both in the laboratory and on the industrial scale. The period reviewed here mainly includes publications that have appeared, since 2010.

Ground State of the Conformal Flow on 𝕊3

We consider the conformal flow model derived in Bizoń et al. (2017) as a normal form for the conformally invariant cubic wave equation on 𝕊³. We prove that the energy attains a global constrained maximum at a family of particular stationary solutions that we call the ground state family. Using this fact and spectral properties of the linearized flow (which are interesting in their own right due to a supersymmetric structure), we prove nonlinear orbital stability of the ground state family. The main difficulty in the proof is due to the degeneracy of the ground state family as a constrained maximizer of the energy. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
