Synthesis of novel,azasugar-modified anthraquinone derivatives and their cytotoxicity

A series of novel, azasugar-modified 2-monosubstituted, 2,6- and 2,7-bissubstituted anthraquinone derivatives have been synthesized by the nucleophilic substitution of N-alkylamino azasugar with mono-, bis（2-chloroacetamido）anthraquinones. Their cytotoxic activities against HeLa and MCF-7 ceils were preliminarily evaluated and compound 9a with mono-azasugar pendant at 2-position showed similar activity to the control drug （Cisplatin）.     

Quantum chemical research on structures, linear and nonlinear optical properties of the Li@n-acenes salt (n = 1, 2, 3, and 4)

On the basis of the n-acenes (n = 1, 2, 3 and 4), the α-Li@n-acenes and β-Li@n-acenes salts were selected to investigate how increasing the number n of conjugated benzenoid rings affects the linear and nonlinear optical responses. The α-Li@n-acenes and β-Li@n-acenes salts are obtained by a lithium atom substituting the α-H and β-H, respectively. In the present work, both ab initio (HF and MP2) and DFT (B3LYP, BhandHLYP, M05-2X, and CAM-B3LYP) methods are adopted to calculate the polarizability (α(0)) and first hyperpolarizability (β(tot)) of the α-Li@n-acenes and β-Li@n-acenes salts. MP2 results show that the α(0) values of both classes of lithium salts increase with increasing number n of conjugated benzenoid rings. Interestingly, we found that the β(tot) values of α-Li@n-acenes and β-Li@n-acenes salts take on opposite trends: the β(tot) values of α-Li@n-acenes are decreasing slowly (2187 for α-Li@benzene > 1978 for α-Li@naphthalene > 1898 for α-Li@anthrecene > 1830 au for α-Li@tetracene) and inceasing remarkably (2738 for β-Li@naphthalene < 3186 for β-Li@anthrecene < 3314 au for β-Li@tetracene) for β-Li@n-acenes. Furthermore, we found that the β(tot) values (2738-3314 au) of the β-Li@n-acenes are larger than those of the α-Li@n-acenes (1830-2187 au). On the other hand, comparing the results of different methods, the β(tot) values obtained by the M05-2X and CAM-B3LYP methods reproduce the polarizability and first hyperpolarizability of the α-Li@n-acenes and β-Li@n-acenes salts well, which test and verify the results of the MP2 method. Our present work may be beneficial to development of high-performance organic NLO optical materials.     

pH-dependent, stereoselective dimerization of sinomenine

In a continuing study on discovery of more potent derivatives of sinomenine (1), a clinically available alkaloid for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) treatment, oxidation of sinomenine provided two unique stereoisomers, disinomenines 2 and 3. The structure of 3 was determined by MS, NMR, and X-ray analysis. The formation of 2 and 3 via oxidation of sinomenine by potassium permanganate (KMnO4) exhibited a pH-dependent stereoselectivity. The bioassay results using human synovial sarcoma cells (SW982) showed that 2 inhibited, while 3 stimulated, IL-6 production.     

仿生表面湿空气冷凝析水实验

实验研究了仿生表面与其它四种对比表面上湿空气冷凝析水过程演变.实验中,采用显微CCD动态观察了各表面上冷凝析水过程宏微观演变,分析探讨了各现象物理机制,定量测量了各不同表面的凝集水量,发现仿生表面集水量多于其它四种对比表面.     

Tunable structural color of anodic tantalum oxide films

Tantalum(Ta) oxide films with tunable structural color were fabricated easily using anodic oxidation.The structure,components,and surface valence states of the oxide films were investigated by using gazing incidence X-ray diffractometry,X-ray photoelectron microscopy,and surface analytical techniques.Their thickness and optical properties were studied by using spectroscopic ellipsometry and total reflectance spectrum.Color was accurately defined using L*a*b* scale.The thickness of compact Ta2O5 films was linearly dependent on anodizing voltage.The film color was tunable by adjusting the anodic voltage.The difference in color appearance resulted from the interference behavior between the interfaces of air-oxide and oxide-metal.     

Synthesis,Characterization, and Activity of Cyclotriphosphazene-Cyclene Conjugates

Abstract

Two novel cyclotriphosphazene derivatives were synthesized from hexachloro cyclotriphosphzene. Their structures were characterized by ¹H, ³¹P, and ¹³C NMR spectroscopy as well as by IR spectroscopy and electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). The Zn complex of 4d was effective in hydrolytic DNA cleavage reactions.

Spatial Dispersion Induced by Cross-Phase Modulation

We demonstrate our experiment of controlling spatial displacements of the probe beam induced by the cross-Kerr effect in a three-level V-type atomic system. By increasing the atomic density or the intensity of strong control laser beams, spatial displacements are enhanced. We further study the difference of effects from the atomic density and the laser intensity. In addition, the spatial displacement efficiencies of the probe beam in different energy level atomic systems are compared. Such studies of controlling spatial displacements can have potential applications in soliton deflection, spatial optical switch and generating spatially correlated （entangled） laser beams in multi-level EIT systems.
