Bis(dibenzo[c.e][1,2]oxaphosphorino)dichloroplatinum Complexes

Reaction of a series of P-amino and P-cycloalkoxy dibenzo[c.e][1,2]oxaphosphorines (1), (3) and (5) with cis-bis(benzonitrile)dichloroplatinum(II) afforded the title bis(dibenzooxaphosphorino) complexes (2), (4) and (6), respectively. In the case of chiral P-substituents, the complexes (4) and (6) were obtained in homo and heterochiral forms. Stereospecific ¹J(¹⁹⁵Pt–P) couplings found in the ³¹P-n.m.r. spectra of the products (2), (4) and (6) suggested the cis orientation of the identical substituents.     

Minimal number of chromatographic test parameters for the characterisation of reversed-phase liquid chromatographic stationary phases

This paper focuses on the classification or differentiation of RP-HPLC columns based on measured chromatographic properties. A chemometric study has been conducted on a published data set consisting of 85 RP-HPLC columns and on a data set consisting of 47 self-tested columns. Principal component analysis enables determination of the number of parameters necessary for a rational differentiation. The results show that reducing the number of parameters for such differentiation still allows classification of the columns just as a higher number did. It is shown that three test parameters produce a classification similar to that obtained with five parameters.     

Thiadiazoloquinoxalines: tuning physical properties through smart synthesis

The synthesis of π-conjugated acceptors based on thiadiazoloquinoxaline (TQ) derivatives is described. Apart from reporting on the functionalization of the TQ core, the influence of the substituents was studied by UV-vis absorption and emission spectroscopy, cyclic voltammetry measurements, and DFT calculations. By changing the donor as well as the π-spacer, a fine-tuning of the photo- and electrochemical properties was achieved.     

Discrete Orthogonality of the Malmquist Takenaka System of the Upper Half Plane and Rational Interpolation

In the representation of non periodic signals the use of special rational orthogonal systems is more efficient. One of these bases is the Malmquist–Takenaka system for the upper half plane. We will prove the discrete orthogonality of this system. Based on the discretization we introduce a new rational interpolation operator and we will study the properties of this operator. A finite sampling theorem for a special subset of non periodic analytic signals will be presented.     

Synthesis and Cation Binding Ability of the Phosphonoalkyl- and Phosphinoylalkyl Derivatives of Monoaza-18-Crown-6

Azacrown ethers with phosphonoalkyl-and phosphinoylalkyl side chains of two to five carbonatoms (2–4, 7 and 5–6, 8,respectively) were synthesized in acceptable yields.The cation binding ability of the new lariat etherswas evaluated by the picrate extraction method.Introduction of the P-functionalised N-substituentresulted in a decrease in the cation extractionability in most cases, but the discrimination betweenthe cations examined was, in some instances,significantly increased.     

The Antimicrobial Activity of Origanum vulgare L. Correlated with the Gastrointestinal Perturbation in Patients with Metabolic Syndrome

(1) The metabolic syndrome (MS) promotes acute and chronic infections, due to the pro-inflammatory condition given by TNFα and IL6 or by affecting the microbiota. MS is also correlated with insulin resistance, causing inflammation and infections throughout the organism. (2) The purpose of this study was to track the effect of using the essential oil of Origanum vulgare L. (EOO) as an antibacterial treatment, compared to allopathic treatment with antibiotics in MS patients. A group of 106 people with MS was divided into four subgroups: L1—staphylococcal infection group, L2—Escherichia coli infection group, L3—streptococcal infection group with EOO treatment, and CG—control group without infection or treatment. (3) EOO is responsible for the antibacterial effect, and reduced minor uncomplicated infections. After a 10-day treatment, intestinal side effects were absent, improving the phase angle. (4) The results suggest that EOO may exhibit an antibacterial effect, similar to the antibiotic treatment, without promoting MS-specific dysbiosis, and it also improves the phase angle in patients, which is used as an index of health and cellular function.     

Thiadiazoloquinoxaline-acetylene containing polymers as semiconductors in ambipolar field effect transistors

Two conjugated copolymers, PPTQT and PTTQT, were developed based on thiadiazoloquinoxalines connected via ethynylene π-spacer to thiophene units. PPTQT showed maximum hole and electron mobility of 0.028 and 0.042 cm(2)/V s, respectively, being the first example of an ambipolar semiconducting material bearing triple bonds in the polymer backbone.     

Binary solvent mixture adsorption as a characterisation tool to determine the hydrophilic/hydrophobic properties of multiwall carbon nanotubes

A simple method is offered to quantitatively characterise the hydrophobic/hydrophilic properties of carbon nanotubes by measuring binary solvent mixture adsorption.
