Synthesis of trans-2-(indol-3-yl)-3-nitrothiochroman-4-ones from 3-nitrothiochromone and indoles

1,4-Nucleophilic addition reactions of 3-nitrothiochromone with indoles gave a number of novel trans-2-(indol-3-yl)-3-nitrothiochroman-4-ones in 36–89% yields. During the reactions, the thiopyrone ring underwent no opening.     

Structure of reaction products of 3-cyanochromones with ethylenediamine

A reaction of 3-cyanochromones with ethylenediamine in ethanol afforded N,N′-ethyl-ene-bis(2-amino-3-iminomethylchromones), which depending on the time of reflux in acetic acid give 2-amino-3-formylchromones or products of their dimerization, 2-(chromon-3-yl)-5H-chromeno[2,3-d]pyrimidin-5-ones.

4-Aryl-6-(trifluoromethyl)-2H-pyran-2-ones and ethyl 4-aryl-6-(trifluoromethyl)-2-oxo-2H-pyran-3-carboxylates react with sodium azide to produce highly functionalized CF₃-1,2,3-triazoles: 3-[5-(trifluoromethyl)-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl]cinnamic acids and monoethyl esters of [5-(trifluoromethyl)-1,2,3-triazol-4-yl]arylmethylidene malonic acids.
