Exhaled breath is a potential noninvasive matrix to give new information about metabolic effects of diets. In this pilot study, non-targeted analysis of exhaled breath volatile organic compounds (VOCs) was made by comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GCxGC-MS) to explore compounds relating to whole grain (WG) diets. Nine healthy subjects participated in the dietary intervention with parallel crossover design, consisting of two high-fiber diets containing whole grain rye bread (WGR) or whole grain wheat bread (WGW) and 1-week control diets with refined wheat bread (WW) before both diet periods. Large interindividual differences were detected in the VOC composition. About 260 VOCs were detected from exhaled breath samples, in which 40 of the compounds were present in more than half of the samples. Various derivatives of benzoic acid and phenolic compounds, as well as some furanones existed in exhaled breath samples only after the WG diets, making them interesting compounds to study further.  相似文献

Ab initio computational methods are used to study the relevance of van der Waals interactions in the case of a hydrogen molecule adsorption on the Ru(0001) surface. In addition to the clean surface, the effects of ruthenium adatom and vacancy on the process are studied. The adsorption characteristics are analyzed in terms of two dimensional cuts of the potential energy surface (PES). Based on the earlier studies for such systems, we mostly concentrate on the trajectories where the hydrogen molecule approaches the surface in parallel orientation. The results indicate that for a clean Ru(0001) the calculations applying the non-local van der Waals potentials yield higher barriers for the dissociation of the H2 molecule. Of the high symmetry sites on Ru(0001), the top site is found to be the most reactive one. The vacancy and ruthenium adatom sites exhibit high dissociation barriers compared with the clean surface.  相似文献

This study presents the results of an acoustic performance evaluation of classrooms and their corridors on a test area of the Finnish Oulu Normal School. The project, “Spaces for learning and creation of new knowledge”, was organised by Rym Ltd and was a re-design pilot study where spatial analysis of some new schools and new forms of future school design have been made.  相似文献
