Decontamination of spent ion-exchange resins contaminated with cesium radionuclides

Possible causes of the occurrence of radioactive contamination irremovable by acid–base regeneration of ion-exchange resins used in treatment of process media and liquid radioactive waste have been studied. It has been found that most of the irremovable cesium radionuclides are bound to inorganic deposits on the surface and in the bulk of ion-exchange resin granules. The nature of inorganic inclusions has been investigated on real and model spent ion-exchange resins (SIER). A method has been proposed for decontaminating SIER using resorcinol–formaldehyde resins selective to cesium radionuclides. Such an approach has been shown to be promising for deep decontamination of SIER.     

Modification of the Pictet–Spengler reaction in the synthesis of fused 2,3-benzodiazocines

A new strategy for the synthesis of the eight-membered heterocyclic skeleton of tetrahydro-quinazolino[3,2-c][2,3]benzodiazocin-15-ones, based on the Pictet–Spengler reaction of 3-amino-2-[2-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)ethyl]quinazolin-4(3H)-one with carbonyl compounds in acidic media, is proposed.     

A spectral-polarization method for analyzing the interference pattern of a radio signal

In this paper, we propose a spectral-polarization method for recovering the shape and measuring the displacement velocity of an interference pattern (IP) by analyzing three mutually orthogonal projections of the radio-signal field vector using one receiving antenna. At the first stage of analysis, the complex Doppler spectra of the time variations of these projections are calculated. Then these data are used to determine the spectra of the arrival angles for each component of the spectra. Together with the data on the Doppler shift, this allows us to recover the IP shape and estimate its velocity and displacement direction. Formulas illustrating the proposed method and numerical simulation results demonstrating practical implementation of the idea are given.
