Synthesis of benzo[c]-2-furanone derivatives from functionally-substituted 2-buten-2-olides

The reaction of substituted 2-acetyl-2-buten-4-olides with diethyl oxalate gives 3-hydroxy-5-ethoxycarbonyl-7,7-dialkylbenzo[c]-2-furanones. Intramolecular 1,5-Hydride Shift in Products of Stevens 3,2-Rearrangement of Ammonium Salts Containing 3-Phenyl-2-propynyl Group

In products of Stevens 3,2-rearrangement of ammonium salts containing alongside alkoxycarbon- ylmethyl also 3-phenyl-2-propynyl group an intramolecular 1,5-hydride shift is observed resulting in immonium salts which transform into aminoesters of enamine structure. The hydrolysis of the latter provides the lower aliphatic aldehydes and the corresponding aminoesters. An acid treatment of the reaction mixture affords a mixture of hydrogenated and nonhydrogenated esters of α-ketoacids originating from the mixture of 1,3-diene aminoesters. At treating with concn. HCl of the obtained mixture the nonhydrogeneted ketoester undergoes cyclization into 4-methyl-3-phenyl-2-buten-1,4-olide.

Reaction of 2-methyl-3,5-heptadiyn-2-ol with glycols

Conclusions The reaction of 2-methyl-3,5-heptadiyn-2-ol with-glycols in the presence of alkaline catalysts results in the formation of 1,3-dioxolanes, while-glycols give ethynylvinyl ethers which contain a hydroxyl group in the alkoxy residue.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 3, pp. 586–588, March, 1972.     

Valence isomerization of 1,4-dinitrocyclooctatetraene

Conclusions It was established that a dynamic equilibrium exists between 1,4- and 1,6-dinitrocyclooctatetraenes in solution. Synthesis,Structure, and Antiproliferative Activity of <Emphasis Type="Italic">trans</Emphasis>-Palladium(II) Complexes with Tetrazol-2-ylacetic Acid Derivatives

A series of trans-palladium(II) complexes (trans-[PdCl₂L₂], L = ethyl 5-R-2H-tetrazol-2-ylacetate, 5-R-2H-tetrazol-2-ylacetamides, R = Me, Ph) has been synthesized, and their structure has been proved by ¹H and ¹³C–{¹H} NMR and high-resolution mass spectra and X-ray analysis. Antiproliferative activity of the synthesized complexes has been determined, and the mechanism of their interaction with DNA has been studied by UV and CD spectroscopy.     

Electrochemical reduction of a mixture of 1,4- and 1,6-dinitrocyclooctatetraenes on a dropping mercury electrode

Conclusions The limiting current of the first wave on the polarograms in the reduction of a mixture of 1,4- and 1,-dinitrocyclooctatetraenes corresponds to the transfer of two electrons. The reduction may be stopped at this step.
