Synthesis, structure, and antimetastatic activity of thetrans-[Pt(NC5H4C(O)NHC2H4ONO2)2Cl2] complex

Thetrans-[Pt(NC₅H₄C(O)NHC₂H₄ONO₂)₂Cl₂] complex (2) was prepared by the reaction of nicorandyl (N-nitroethoxynicotinamide), which is widely used in cardiology, with K₂PtCl₄ in water. The structure of2 was established by X-ray structural analysis. It was found that complex2 exhibits high antitumor activity, in particular, antimetastatic activity, unlike the analogous Cu^II complex with bromine atoms. Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. The reactions of ethylene glycol mononitrate and glycerol 1,3-dinitrate with methylphosphonic dichloride afforded new nitroxyalkyl methylphosphonates.     

Study of the Electric Strength of Pressed Polyoxide Powdered Materials Obtained by Oxidation of Hard Alloys

The electric strength of a polyoxide mass obtained on the surface of hard alloy composite materials by their high-temperature heating in an electric furnace with direct access of atmospheric air is studied.     

The use of the consecutive adsorption of pyridine bases and carbon monoxide in the IR spectroscopic study of the accessibility of acid sites in microporous/mesoporous materials

A new approach to the evaluation of the accessibility of acid sites in microporous/mesoporous materials is developed and tested using a series of dealuminated mordenites. This approach is based on an IR-spectroscopic study of the consecutive adsorption of substituted alkylpyridines (pyridine, 2,4,6-trimethylpyridine, and 2,4,6-triethylpyridine) and carbon monoxide. This method allowed us to determine the strength and number of acid sites with various degrees of accessibility. The adsorption of 2,4,6-triethylpyridine on various types of materials is studied. The extinction coefficients of alkylpyridines are determined using a McBain balance placed in a cell for IR-spectroscopic measurements. Original Russian Text N.S. Nesterenko, F. Thibault-Starzyk, V. Double gradient ion chromatography on a short carboxybetaine coated monolithic anion exchanger

An ultra-short 1.0 x 0.46 cm carboxybetaine coated monolithic anion exchanger has been used with a new double gradient ion chromatography (DG-IC) technique. The novel monolithic column can be used with flow rate gradients giving excellent peak efficiencies, and retention times can be simultaneously reduced through combining flow gradients with an eluent pH gradient.
