Spectroscopic investigation of the Dergaon meteorite with reference to 10 μm and 20 μm bands

Analysis of a part of the meteorite which fell at Dergaon (India) on March 2, 16.40 local time (2001) is presented with the help of FTIR, absorption and atomic spectra. The FTIR spectrum exhibits prominent absorption bands in the region 800–1100 cm⁻¹, originating from the valence vibration of SiO⁴, a basic component of the silicate lattice.     

Synthesis of a novel cis-proline-derived cyclic type VI beta-turn mimic via ring-closing metathesis

A cis-proline derived cyclic mimic of a type VI beta-turn is synthesized via a ring-closing metathesis reaction. The solution NMR conformational study indicates that the major conformer of the cyclic peptide adopts a type VIa beta-turn in CDCl(3) and a type VIb beta-turn in DMSO-d(6).     

Microwave Induced Bismuth Trichloride Catalysed Beckmann Rearrangement of Oximes

A new and efficient method for the rearrangement of oximes 1 has been achieved by a simple reaction of a ketoximes with bismuth trichloride under microwave irradiation in the solid state.     

SDS/Ac2O/H2O: Surfactant‐Mediated Cleavage of Imines with Acetic Anhydride to Carbonyls and Acetanilides in Water

Surfactant (SDS)‐mediated cleavage of imines was achieved with acetic anhydride to the corresponding carbonyls (aldehydes and ketones) and acetanilides in water at 25–30°C with very good to excellent yields, thus contributing significantly to the green chemistry concept.     

A facile synthesis of steroidal D-ring fused pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines

A facile method for the synthesis of steroidal D-ring fused pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines through a microwave mediated reaction between steroidal β-bromovinyl aldehydes and pyrazoloamines using palladium(II) catalyst has been described.     

A facile synthesis of benzo[b][1,4]thiazepine derivatives by palladium acetate catalyzed reaction

The preparation of steroid/nonsteroid fused benzo[b][1,4]thiazepines and 2-arylsubstituted benzo[b][1,4]thiazepines is described from Pd(OAc)₂ catalyzed reaction of steroidal/nonsteroidal β-halovinyl aldehydes and 2-aminothiophenols in DMF under heating condition.     

Synthesis of small cyclic peptides via reverse turn induced ring closing metathesis of tripeptides

A reverse turn induced (gamma/beta-turn) cyclization of tripeptides 1 can be performed in a ring closing metathesis reaction with Grubbs' catalyst to the corresponding cyclic peptides 2. These cyclic peptides may be useful probes as a conformationally constrained mimic of the bioactive conformation of structurally related HIV protease inhibitors.     

Search for Higgs Boson in UHE Cosmic Rays

Considering the SM Higgs boson mass in the range of (95–235) GeV, we present here a mechanism for indirect searches of this scalar in UHE cosmic rays interactions. The mechanism is the decay of Higgs bosons which are produced through bubble formation due to vacuum excitation in an UHE cosmic rays interactions with air nuclei. We develop a model of hadronic interaction based on algorithms of the GENCL code of the UA5 experiment of CERN and some physics of CORSIKA code (Karlsruhe report), incorporating a fraction of energy transfer to bubble formation through vacuum excitation and subsequent multiparticle production via conversion of Higgs boson to heavy fermion pairs. Such events are expected to have high multiplicity and excess muons. This mechanism has significant effect starting from E _P 10¹⁸eV. It is found that the average muon number decreases gradually upto 175 GeV Higgs boson mass and remain practically constant thereafter for all primary energies (E _P) above 10¹⁸ eV and for all fractions of energy transfer (f _e 0.01–0.5). The fluctuation of muon multiplicity decreases with E _P and increases very slowly with Higgs mass upto 175 GeV, remaining practically invariant thereafter.     

A novel microwave-mediated one-pot synthesis of indolizines via a three-component reaction

[reaction: see text] The microwave-mediated three-component reaction of acyl bromide, pyridine, and acetylene is catalyzed by basic alumina to give corresponding indolizines in excellent yields in a one-pot reaction.     

Microwave promoted synthesis of cycl[3.2.2]azines in water via a new three-component reaction

A microwave-promoted and base-catalyzed synthesis of cycl[3.2.2]azines is accomplished in water via a three-component reaction (3-CR) of 2-picoline, α-bromoacetophenone and alkyne. The extension of the methodology to the synthesis of steroidal and carbocyclic cycl[3.2.2]azine is also reported.
