Latent low-coordinate titanium imides supported by a sterically encumbering beta-diketiminate ligand

Addition of an equal molar quantity of R- (R = Me, SiMe3) to complex (Nacnac)Ti=NAr(OTf) (Nacnac- =[ArNC(tBu)]2CH, Ar = 2,6-iPr2C6H3) forms the imido alkyl (Nacnac)Ti=NAr(R), which can be readily protonated to afford [(Nacnac)Ti=NAr(L)]+ (L = THF, Et2O, eta1-C6H5NMe2), or treated with B(C6F5)3 to afford the zwitterion (Nacnac)Ti=NAr(micro-CH3)B(C6F5)3.     

Intermolecular C-H bond activation promoted by a titanium alkylidyne

The transient titanium alkylidyne complex (PNP)TiCtBu (PNP = N-[2-P(CHMe2)2-4-methylphenyl]2-), prepared from alpha-hydrogen abstraction of the corresponding alkylidene-alkyl species (PNP)Ti=CHtBu(CH2tBu), can readily undergo intermolecular 1,2-addition of C-H bonds of benzene and SiMe4. Synthesis and reactivity, isotopic labeling, kinetics, and theoretical studies strongly favor an alkylidyne pathway and the alpha-H abstraction step to be the rate-determining step.     

Synthesis,structure, and reactions of a three-coordinate nickel-carbene complex, [1,2-Bis(di-tert-butylphosphino)ethane]Ni=CPh(2)

The three-coordinate nickel-carbene complex (dtbpe)Ni=CPh2 (3) was prepared from the thermolysis of the diphenyldiazoalkane complex (dtbpe)Ni(N,N':eta2-N2CPh2) (2) (dtbpe = 1,2-bis(di-tert-butylphosphino)ethane). Complex 3 was structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods (Ni-C = 1.836(2) A). Complex 3 reacts with 2 equiv of CO2 to afford (dtbpe)Ni{OC(O)CPh2C(O)O} (4), with diphenylketene to give (dtbpe)Ni{OC(=CPh2)CPh2} (5), with excess CO to transfer the carbene fragment and generate diphenylketene and (dtbpe)Ni(CO)2 (6), with sulfur dioxide to give the metallasulfone (dtbpe)Ni{C,S:eta2-S(O)2CPh2} (7), and with the Br?nsted acid [HNMe2Ph][B(C6F5)4] to give the alkyl cation [(dtbpe)Ni(CHPh2)][B(C6F5)4] (8). Complexes 4, 5, and 7 have also been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods.     

Vectorial Approach to Fast Correlation Attacks

A new, vectorial approach to fast correlation attacks on binary memoryless combiners is proposed. Instead of individual input sequences or their linear combinations, the new attack is targeting subsets of input sequences as a whole thus exploiting the full correlation between the chosen subset and the output sequence. In particular, the set of all the input sequences can be chosen as the target. The attack is based on a novel iterative probabilistic algorithm which is also applicable to general memoryless combiners over finite fields or finite rings.
