Acylation and iodination of 5-(p-R-phenyl)-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiones

The acylation of 5-(p-R-phenyl)-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiones was studied. It was shown that the reaction depends on the nature of the group in the para position of the 5-phenyl substituent. Iodination of the sodium salts of 1,2,4-triazole-3-thiones is accompanied by the formation of disulfides, whereas 1,2,4-triazole-3-thiones that contain an unsaturated substituent with an allylic bond in the 4 position of the ring are iodinated to give condensed thiazolotriazole systems.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 6, pp. 843–846, June, 1984.
