Ghrelin-like peptide with fatty acid modification and O-glycosylation in the red stingray, Dasyatis akajei

Background  

Ghrelin (GRLN) is now known to be an appetite-stimulating and growth hormone (GH)-releasing peptide that is predominantly synthesized and secreted from the stomachs of various vertebrate species from fish to mammals. Here, we report a GRLN-like peptide (GRLN-LP) in a cartilaginous fish, the red stingray, Dasyatis akajei.     

On asymptotic properties for some parameter-dependent variational inequalities

This paper is concerned with asymptotic and monotonicity properties of some parameter-dependent variational inequalities. The main part of the study deals with inequalities modelling friction problems with normal compliance or Tresca’s conditions in which the parameter stands for the friction coefficient. The corresponding inequalities are (generalizations) of variational inequalities of the second kind. We then study an inequality of the first kind representing the elastoplastic torsion problem where the parameter represents the plasticity yield.     

Synthesis and evaluation of a maltose‐bonded silica gel stationary phase for hydrophilic interaction chromatography and its application in Ginkgo Biloba extract separation in two‐dimensional systems

Maltose covalently bonded to silica was prepared by using carbonyl diimidazole as a cross‐linker and employed as a stationary phase for hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography. The column efficiency and the effect of water content, buffer concentration, and pH value influenced on retention were investigated. The separation or enrichment selectivity was also studied with nucleosides, saccharides, amino acids, peptides, and glycopeptides. The results indicated that the stationary phase processed good separation efficiency and separation selectivity in hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography mode. Moreover, a two‐dimensional hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography× reversed‐phase liquid chromatography method with high orthogonality was developed to analyze the Ginkgo Biloba extract fractions. The development of this two‐dimensional chromatographic system would be an effective tool for the separation of complex samples of different polarities and contents.     

Lignified natural products as potential medicinal resources. I. Potentiation of hemolytic plaque-forming cell production in mice

We have found that water-soluble extracts of lignified natural products are strong potentiaters of hemolytic plaque-forming cell production in mice. Apparently, the active components involved belong to a lignin family. Consequently, study of medicinal potential, especially immunopotentiating capacity, of lignified materials is important.     

A Monomeric Stannabenzene: Synthesis,Structure, and Electronic Properties

A tin‐containing benzene, stannabenzene, was synthesized and isolated as a monomeric form. The X‐ray crystallographic analysis revealed the planar structure of the stannabenzene ring and unsaturated Sn?C and C?C bonds without bond alternation. Low‐field shifted NMR signals and negative nuclear‐independent chemical shifts (NICS) values are in agreement with the features of aromatic compounds. The narrow HOMO–LUMO gap of stannabenzene has been revealed by UV/Vis spectroscopy and electrochemistry.
