One of the most interesting problems of modern physics is the realization of nanoparticles in macroscopic quantum states, in which they behave as a quantum objects. These states can only be implemented at ultra-low translational temperatures that have not been achieved so far. Here we develop a novel method for optical cooling of CaF2:Yb3+ nanocrystals, which is based on the coherent population transfer induced in the impurity ions by ultraviolet Raman pulses. A doped nanocrystal localized in a radio-frequency trap is cooled due to the photon recoil from the pulses of varied intensity. The proposed method allows to obtain nanocrystals with translational temperatures of the order of 10?9 K, which indicates that the nanocrystal approaches a macroscopic quantum state. 相似文献

We present a "toy" classical model for sympathetic cooling of the neutral Brownian particle in the frame of robust thermodynamical approach. The cooling time is expressed with the parameters of the Brownian particle and the particles from the cooling reservoir. Qualitative and numerical estimations of the model confirm that the sympathetic cooling can be efficient for heavy neutral molecules and clusters. 相似文献

This paper suggests a physical model that explains the origin of the main front of a three-meter wave that moved along the bed of the Adagum River through the town of Krymsk on July 7, 2012 at the time of flooding during rain showers that caused catastrophic destruction and casualties. It has been proven that the cause of the wave origin was a sudden change of water flow intensity resulting from the construction of an unregulated water outlet. The construction was erected without taking changes in climate into consideration and it caused an extreme increase of the volume of rainfall run-off. First, it was experimentally proven that the sudden change of water-flow intensity was associated with the change of the runoff regime through a water outlet pipe that occurred without human involvement. 相似文献

We propose the precision measurement of both angular rotation and of the gradient magnetic of a field based on the use of
matter wave interferometers with soliton states of a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC). We consider the formation of these soliton
states in a BEC with negative scattering length by an optical lattice produced by two counterpropagating laser beams. We determine
the parameters of both the initial condensate and the optical radiation necessary for the formation of coherent solitons.
We demonstrate
that this interferometer can be used to measure magnetic field gradient with a precision of 10-2 pT/cm. Our calculations show that the sensitivity of a gyroscope based on a ring, two-port matter wave interferometer can
achieve 2.6×10-7 rad s-1. The precision of this method is more than ten times greater than in that of rotating interferometer with cooled atoms. 相似文献

Using a large acceptance calorimeter and a stopped pion beam we have made a precise measurement of the rare pi(+)-->pi(0)e(+)nu (pi(beta)) decay branching ratio. We have evaluated the branching ratio by normalizing the number of observed pi(beta) decays to the number of observed pi(+)-->e(+)nu (pi(e2)) decays. We find the value of Gamma(pi(+)-->pi(0)e(+)nu)/Gamma(total)=[1.036+/-0.004(stat)+/-0.004(syst)+/-0.003(pi(e2))]x10(-8), where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic, and the third is the pi(e2) branching ratio uncertainty. We propose a novel method enabling to create a high-contrast dark resonance
in the 87Rb vapor D2-line. The method is based on an optical
pumping of atoms into the working states by a two-frequency,
linearly-polarized laser radiation propagating perpendicularly to the probe
field. This new scheme is compared to the traditional scheme involving the
σ+-polarized probe beam only, and significant improvement of the
dark resonance parameters is found. Qualitative considerations are confirmed
