The effect of simultaneous substitution of a fluctuating cation and a divalent cation in LaMnO3 perovskite modifies the properties of the material to exhibit large valence colossal magnetoresistance (CMR) effect. A good example of these properties is (La1−2x Pr x Ca x )MnO3 (LPCMO) type CMR material. In this communication it is reported that, with the increase in x (for x=0.1, 0.15, 0.2), the T c varies between 100 and 120 K with improvisation in metal-insulator transition. Interestingly, resistance increases with x from few hundred ohms to few kilo ohms with corresponding decrease in the unit cell volume. The results of the studies using X-ray diffraction (XRD), electrical resistivity, magnetoresistance and ac susceptibility measurements on LPCMO samples for understanding the structural, transport and magnetic properties are discussed in detail.  相似文献

The kinetics of oxidation of thiosulfate to tetrathionate by trans-dihydroxotetraoxoosmate(VIII) in aqueous alkaline media have been studied. The oxidation follows a rate expression where KOs is the formation constant of trans-dihydroxotetraoxoosmate (VIII), and K2 and k3, respectively, represent the formation constants of the intermediate complex involving Os(VIII) and S2O and its decomposition constant. The KOs, K2, and k3 values have been computed to be (19.5 ± 3) dm3/mol, (6.12 ± 0.5) and (3.32 ± 0.3) × 10?1 dm3/mol s at 303 K, and I = 0.32 mol/dm3, respectively. The rate law is consistent with a mechanism envisaging the equilibrium formation of an intermediate complex involving Os(VIII) and S2O, followed by a rate-determining decomposition of the complex with concomitant electron transfer.  相似文献

Magnetoresistance (MR) and magnetization (dc and ac) measurements have been carried out on the manganites, (La0.7−2xEux)(Ca0.3Srx)MnO3 (0.05≤x≤0.15), in the temperature range of 5-320 K. At 5 K, an unusually large MR of almost 98% is observed in the x=0.15 sample, nearly up to fields of 4-5 T. This large high-field MR occurs in the metallic region, far below the insulator-metal transition temperature, and does not vary linearly with applied field. The unusual magnetoresistance is explained in the light of various possibilities such as phase segregation, cluster spin-glass behavior, etc.  相似文献

Summary The metal complexes of the type [M(SB)2(H2O)2] and [M(SB)2][where M = MnII, CoII, NiII or CuII, M = ZnII CdII, HgII and PbII and SBH = 2-(2-hydroxyacetophenone)imino-5-(p-anisyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazole] have been prepared and characterised by elemental analyses, thermal analyses, magnetic measurements, electronic and infrared spectral studies. The complexes [M(SB)2(H2O)2] possess octahedral structures, whereas complexes [M(SB)2] are tetrahedral. The crystal field parameters of the CoII and NiII complexes are also calculated.  相似文献

We have deposited c-axis oriented thin films of La1.5Dy0.5CaBa2Cu5Oz (La-2125) tetragonal superconductor on LaAlO3(001) substrates by pulsed laser deposition. These films were irradiated with 200 MeV Ag+15 ions. Atomic force microscopy and elastic recoil detection analysis indicate that the irradiation has created columnar defects through the entire thickness (2000 Å) of these films. With ion irradiation up to 1×1011 ions/cm2, the critical current density (Jc(H)) enhances by fivefold, which is attributed to the augmented flux pinning by the columnar defects. A further increase in irradiation to 1×1012 ions/cm2 causes reduction in Jc(H) due to distorted morphology of the film. Our work shows that the enhancement in Jc(H) of the irradiated La-2125 film is comparable to that in irradiated RE-123 (RE = rare earth ion). Also, as the La-2125 type films have greater chemical stability than RE-123, La-2125 type superconductors are potential candidates for applications. It is interesting to note that there are partial flux jumps observed to occur symmetrically in the magnetic hysteresis of irradiated La-2125 thin films with enhanced Jc(H).  相似文献

A kinetic reinvestigation of the title redox system in aqueous alkaline media at 35°C and an ionic strength of 0.5 mol dm?3 shows that the reaction follows a pseudosecond-order Fe(CN) disappearance. While varying [phenol]0 and [OH?] exhibit a linear influence on the pseudo-second-order rate constant, varying[Fe(CN)]0 and [Fe(CN)]0, initially taken, have a complicated inhibitory effect on the same. The major phenoloxidation products isolated under a chosen condition are 2,2′- and 4,4′- dihydroxydiphenyl. Results are interpreted in terms of a probable mechanism which envisages a reversible formation, by the first one-electron transfer, of a reactive phenoxy radical (PhO˙) which on the second one-electron transfer forms a less reactive ion-pair intermediate (stabilized by the Fe(CN) produced) to decompose rate-determiningly to phenoxonium cation (PhO+) and Fe(CN), the product-formation steps being very rapid and kinetically indistinguishable.  相似文献
