Stimulated Raman scattering by C<Subscript>12</Subscript>H<Subscript>22</Subscript>O<Subscript>11</Subscript> sugar (sucrose)

The efficient Stokes and anti-Stokes laser emissions with Raman frequency shift at about 2960 cm^?1 are excited in a food C₁₂H₂₂O₁₁ sugar (sucrose) single crystal under pulsed pumping. Other (χ⁽²⁾ + χ⁽³⁾) effects of the parametric Raman generation are also detected.     

Spectroscopic investigation of the chromium-doped LiNbGeO5 laser crystal

Polarized absorption and emission spectra, and temperature dependences of the fluorescence lifetimes and intensities for the chromium-doped LiNbGeO₅ laser crystal are presented. Crystal symmetry and comparison with the infrared fluorescence properties of the Cr-doped Mg₂SiO₄ and Y₃Al₅O₁₂ laser crystals seem to identify the active center as a Cr⁴⁺ ion in a tetrahedral site.     

Hydroacridines and related compounds. 23. Caprolactam derivatives and hydrocoumarins from 4a,10a-epidioxyperhydroacridines

The thermolysis of 10-R,9-R¹,9-R²-4a,10a-epidioxyperhydroacridines has given 1-R-3-[-(2-oxocyclohexyl)alkyl]hexahydroazepin-2-ones which have been reduced to the corresponding 2-hydroxycyclohexyl derivatives. Polarographic investigation of the mobility of halogen atoms in halogen-substituted components of nucleic acids

In order to establish quantitatively the reducibility of halogen-substituted components of nucleic acids, the half-wave potentials (E_1/2) of their electrochemical reduction have been determined. The electrochemical reduction of all compounds takes place in the interval from –0.5 to –1.8 V and consists in the splitting off of the halogen atom (iodine, bromine) from the given molecule. Hydrogenated azolo- and azinopyridines based on 1,5-diketones

Compounds that contain a hydrogenated azolopyridine structure are formed in the reaction of various types of 1,5-diketones with ethanolamine, o-aminophenol, o-phenylenediamine, and aroylhydrazines; compounds that include a hydrogenated azinopyridine structure were obtained by the reaction of diketones with 3-aminopropanol and anthranilic acid. The seed oils of some species of the family Cruciferae

Summary The physicochemical properties of the oils of the seeds of seven plants of the family Cruciferae —Cakile maritima, Sisymbrium altissimum, Sisymbrium Loeselii, Descurainia Sophia, Erysimum cheiranthoides, Brassica amoracioides andCrambe pontica — have been studied and their fatty acid compositions have been determined. The neutron field and radiation shielding efficiency measurement and the luminosity monitoring using the HF RADMON system of the CMS setup

The HF RADMON system monitors radiation environment in the region of the forward calorimeter of the CMS setup. Measurements of neutron fluxes at energies of 7, 8, and 13 GeV are carried out; estimates of the radiation shielding efficiency are obtained. Modernization of the system for operating under high luminosity conditions is completed and its capabilities to be used as an additional luminometer are confirmed.     

Electrical conductivity of SmS polycrystals

The electrical conductivity of SmS polycrystals has been studied in the temperature range 300?C870 K. It has been shown that, at 300 K ?? T ?? 700 K, the concentration of conduction electrons is determined by electron transfer from impurity donor levels, and at T > 700 K, by that from the samarium 4f levels.
