Photo-Absorption and photochemical decomposition of copper and alkaline-earth ß-diketonates as source gases of high-Tc superconducting films

For low-temperature deposition of oxide films relating to Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O superconductors, photo-absorption and -decomposition properties were examined with respect to copper and alkaline-earth ß-diketonates. It was confirmed that all ß-diketonates examined were promising as source materials for photochemical vapour deposition (photo-CVD) using a low-pressure mercury lamp, in view of their large light absorption coefficients at wavelength 254 nm. The light irradiation was effective for the formation of highly crystalline oxide films at temperatures below 600 °C. By combining two sources, Ca₂CuO₃ and SrCuO₂ films were prepared. Photo-CVD of c-axis oriented Bi₂Sr₂CuO_x film was achieved by the irradiation of ternary sources of Bi(C₆H₅)₃ and strontium and copper ß-diketonates at 500 °C.     

NMR studies of phosphinenickel(0) complexes of ethyl methacrylate Ni(PR3)2(CH2=C(CH3)COOC2H5)

¹³C NMR data are given for a series of phosphinenickel(0) complexes of ethyl methacrylate (ema), Ni(PR₃)₂(CH₂=C(CH₃)COOC₂H₅) (PR₃ = PPh₃ (Ia), PEtPh₂ (Ib), PEt₂Ph (Ic), PMe₂Ph (Id), PEt₃ (Ie)). The olefinic carbon signals of ema shift upfield by 71.5–86.5 ppm on coordination, the magnitude of the upfield shift increasing with increase in the bacisity of the phosphine ligand. The effect of the basicity of PR₃ is discussed on the basis of the back-bonding from Ni to ema. Variable temperature¹H NMR studies reveal that the ema of Id, the complex having the least sterically demanding phosphine ligands, exchanges with free ema in toluene on the NMR time scale. The dependence of the rate of exchange on the concentration of ema shows that the exchange proceeds through anS_N2 mechanism. The activation parameters are: ΔH₂₇₃^≠ 2.75 kcal/mol, ΔG₂₇₃^≠ 12.7 kcal/mol, ΔS₂₇₃^≠ ?37 e.u. The³¹P NMR spectra of the complexes show two doublets when the exchange is frozen out, indicating the inequivalence of the two phosphine ligands in the ema-coordinated complex. The difference in the³¹P chemical shifts of the two coordinated tertiary phosphines increases with increase in the basicity of the PR₃ ligand.     

Alternating copolymer of thiophene andN‐(phenylethynyl)pyrrole. New π‐conjugated alternating five‐membered ring copolymer and its packing structure

An alternating copolymer, Copoly‐1 , of thiophene and N‐(phenylethynyl)pyrrole was prepared by palladium‐catalyzed polycondensation. Powder X‐ray diffraction (XRD) analysis indicated that Copoly‐1 formed a stacked packing structure with doubly‐running polymer main chains. New phlegmarane-type, cernuane-type, and quinolizidine alkaloids from two species of Lycopodium

Two new phlegmarane-type alkaloids, cermizines A (1) and B (2), three new quinolizidine alkaloids, cermizine C (3) and senepodines G (4) and H (5), and a new C₁₆N₂ type alkaloid consisting of a quinolizidine and a piperidine ring, cermizine D (6), as well as two new cernuane-type alkaloids, cernuine N-oxide (7) and lycocernuine N-oxide (8), have been isolated together with cernuine (9) and lycocernuine (10) from the club moss Lycopodium cernuum and L. chinense. The relative stereochemistry of 1-4 and 6, and the absolute stereochemistry of 5, 7, and 8 were elucidated by combination of NOESY correlations, modified Mosher's method, chemical transformations, and computational methods. Cermizine D (6) might be a biosynthetic intermediate of cernuane-type alkaloids such as 7-10.     

A comparative study on p-doping behavior of polythiophenes with CH<Subscript>3</Subscript>SO<Subscript>3</Subscript>H

Four kinds of polythiophenes have been doped with CH3SO3H in CHCl3 under air, oxygen, and nitrogen. In the doping of two types of poly(3-hexylthiophene)s, P3HexTh(Zn/Ni) and P3HexTh(Fe) with different contents of a head-to-tail unit, the p-doping occurs at a similar rate. The reaction between poly(3-dodecylthiophene), P3DodTh, and the acid takes place more rapidly. P3OBuTh with a butoxy substituent undergoes more facile p-doping and receives photochemical reaction with CHCl3, and this reaction obeys a pseudo-first-order rate law with a rate constant kobs of 1.42×10-5 s-1 at room temperature.     

Preparation of dibromopyridines having -(CH2)m-SO3Na groups as monomers for new polypyridines

Dibromopyridines or dibromopyridone with -(CH₂)_m-SO₃Na group(s) has been prepared via the reactions of the corresponding dibromopyridines with -OH and -NH₂ groups with sultone. These compounds were converted into polymers with the -(CH₂)_m-SO₃H groups via organometallic polycondensation. The polymer showed proton conducting properties and high stability toward oxidation.
