Europium (Eu+) ions were confined in a Paul trap and detected by non-destructive method. Storage time of Eu+ ions achieved in vacuum was improved by orders of magnitude employing buffer gas cooling. The experimentally detected signal was fitted to the ion response signal and the total number of ions trapped was estimated. It is found that the peak signal amplitude as well as the product of FWHM and the peak signal amplitude is proportional to the total number of trapped ions. The trapped ion secular frequency was swept at different rates and its effect on the absorption line profile was studied both experimentally and theoretically.  相似文献

We study the transit frequency optimization problem, which aims to determine the time interval between subsequent buses for a set of public transportation lines given by their itineraries, i.e., sequences of stops and street sections. The solution should satisfy a given origin–destination demand and a constraint on the available fleet of buses. We propose a new mixed integer linear programming (MILP) formulation for an already existing model, originally formulated as a nonlinear bilevel one. The proposed formulation is able to solve to optimality real small-sized instances of the problem using MILP techniques. For solving larger instances we propose a metaheuristic which accuracy is estimated by comparing against exact results (when possible). Both exact and approximated approaches are tested by using existing cases, including a real one related to a small-city which public transportation system comprises 13 lines. The magnitude of the improvement of that system obtained by applying the proposed methodologies, is comparable with the improvements reported in the literature, related to other real systems. Also, we investigate the applicability of the metaheuristic to a larger-sized real case, comprising more than 130 lines.  相似文献

Near-edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy and microscopy has been used to study the orientational morphology of thin films of the linear alkanes n-C36H74 and n-C60H122, prepared by vacuum deposition onto NaCl (001) surfaces at ambient and elevated substrate temperatures. The orientational morphology, specifically, the nature of domains with lateral and normal orientation, is explored as a function of the chain length and the substrate temperature. It is found that the longer n-C60H122 molecules are laterally oriented on the substrate surface within the investigated substrate temperatures but that the morphology of these thin films varies with substrate temperature. The shorter n-C36H74 molecules are partially laterally oriented at low substrate temperature and are completely normally oriented at high substrate temperature. The relative magnitude of "side-by-side" and "end-to-end" intermolecular interactions leads to the formation of highly ordered alkane structures with a high aspect ratio. The formation of complex, nanoscale orientational morphologies are rationalized by considering kinetic and thermodynamic effects, in particular, the relative enthalpic and entropic contributions to the free energy associated with the different molecular orientations.  相似文献
