Dioxygen activation by enzymes such as methane monooxygenase, ribonucleotide reductase, and fatty acid desaturases occurs at a nonheme diiron active site supported by two histidines and four carboxylates, typically involving a (peroxo)diiron(III,III) intermediate in an early step of the catalytic cycle. Biomimetic tetracarboxylatodiiron(II,II) complexes with the familiar "paddlewheel" topology comprising sterically bulky o-dixylylbenzoate ligands with pyridine, 1-methylimidazole, or THF at apical sites readily react with O(2) to afford thermally labile peroxo intermediates that can be trapped and characterized spectroscopically at low temperatures (193 K). Cryogenic stopped-flow kinetic analysis of O(2) adduct formation carried out for the three complexes reveals that dioxygen binds to the diiron(II,II) center with concentration dependences and activation parameters indicative of a direct associative pathway. The pyridine and 1-methylimidazole intermediates decay by self-decomposition. However, the THF intermediate decays much faster by oxygen transfer to added PPh(3), the kinetics of which has been studied with double mixing experiments in a cryogenic stopped-flow apparatus. The results show that the decay of the THF intermediate is kinetically controlled by the dissociation of a THF ligand, a conclusion supported by the observation of saturation kinetic behavior with respect to PPh(3), inhibition by added THF, and invariant saturation rate constants for the oxidation of various phosphines. It is proposed that the proximity of the reducing substrate to the peroxide ligand on the diiron coordination sphere facilitates the oxygen-atom transfer. This unique investigation of the reaction of an O(2) adduct of a biomimetic tetracarboxylatodiiron(II,II) complex provides a synthetic precedent for understanding the electrophilic reactivity of like adducts in the active sties of nonheme diiron enzymes. 相似文献

The planar complexes [Ni(II)(pyN(2)(R2))(OH)](-), containing a terminal hydroxo group, are readily prepared from N,N'-(2,6-C(6)H(3)R(2))-2,6-pyridinedicarboxamidate(2-) tridentate pincer ligands (R(4)N)(OH), and Ni(OTf)(2). These complexes react cleanly and completely with carbon dioxide in DMF solution in a process of CO(2) fixation with formation of the bicarbonate product complexes [Ni(II)(pyN(2)(R2))(HCO(3))](-) having η(1)-OCO(2)H ligation. Fixation reactions follow second-order kinetics (rate = k(2)'[Ni(II)-OH][CO(2)]) with negative activation entropies (-17 to -28 eu). Reactions were monitored by growth and decay of metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) bands at 350-450 nm. The rate order R = Me > macro > Et > Pr(i) > Bu(i) > Ph at 298 K (macro = macrocylic pincer ligand) reflects increasing steric hindrance at the reactive site. The inherent highly reactive nature of these complexes follows from k(2)' ≈ 10(6) M(-1) s(-1) for the R = Me system that is attenuated by only 100-fold in the R = Ph complex. A reaction mechanism is proposed based on computation of the enthalpic reaction profile for the R = Pr(i) system by DFT methods. The R = Et, Pr(i), and Bu(i) systems display biphasic kinetics in which the initial fast process is followed by a slower first order process currently of uncertain origin. 相似文献

The mononuclear nickel(II) enolate complex [(6-Ph(2)TPA)Ni(PhC(O)C(OH)C(O)Ph]ClO(4) (I) was the first reactive model complex for the enzyme/substrate (ES) adduct in nickel(II)-containing acireductone dioxygenases (ARDs) to be reported. In this contribution, the mechanism of its O(2)-dependent aliphatic carbon-carbon bond cleavage reactivity was further investigated. Stopped-flow kinetic studies revealed that the reaction of I with O(2) is second-order overall and is ~80 times slower at 25 °C than the reaction involving the enolate salt [Me(4)N][PhC(O)C(OH)C(O)Ph]. Computational studies of the reaction of the anion [PhC(O)C(OH)C(O)Ph](-) with O(2) support a hydroperoxide mechanism wherein the first step is a redox process that results in the formation of 1,3-diphenylpropanetrione and HOO(-). Independent experiments indicate that the reaction between 1,3-diphenylpropanetrione and HOO(-) results in oxidative aliphatic carbon-carbon bond cleavage and the formation of benzoic acid, benzoate, and CO:CO(2) (~12:1). Experiments in the presence of a nickel(II) complex gave a similar product distribution, albeit benzil [PhC(O)C(O)Ph] is also formed, and the CO:CO(2) ratio is ~1.5:1. The results for the nickel(II)-containing reaction match those found for the reaction of I with O(2) and provide support for a trione/HOO(-) pathway for aliphatic carbon-carbon bond cleavage. Overall, I is a reasonable structural model for the ES adduct formed in the active site of Ni(II)ARD. However, the presence of phenyl appendages at both C(1) and C(3) in the [PhC(O)C(OH)C(O)Ph](-) anion results in a reaction pathway for O(2)-dependent aliphatic carbon-carbon bond cleavage (via a trione intermediate) that differs from that accessible to C(1)-H acireductone species. This study, as the first detailed investigation of the O(2) reactivity of a nickel(II) enolate complex of relevance to Ni(II)ARD, provides insight toward understanding the chemical factors involved in the O(2) reactivity of metal acireductone species. 相似文献

The synthesis of complexes of zinc with saturated 14-member tetraazamacrocyclic ligands is described; the compounds obtained were characterized by the of elementary analysis and IR spectroscopy. The distribution of electron density in the coordination mode of complexes of zinc with macrocycles differing in number and mutual arrangement of the substituents was investigated by the XES method. The kineties of reactions of replacement of zinc ions by copper ions in complexes with saturated macrocycles and an analogous noncyclic ligand was investigated; the influence of substituents on the kinetic parameters of these reactions was established.Translated from Teoreticheskaya i Éxperimental'naya Khimiya, Vol. 21, No. 4, pp. 424–431, July–August, 1985. 相似文献

White phosphorus (P(4)) reacts with three-coordinate molybdenum(III) trisamides or molybdaziridine hydride complexes to produce either bridging or terminal phosphide (P(3)(-)) species, depending upon the ancillary ligand steric demands. Thermochemical measurements have been made that place the MoP triple bond dissociation enthalpy at 92.2 kcal.mol(-)(1). Thermochemical measurements together with computational analysis rule out simple P-atom abstraction from P(4) as a step in the phosphorus activation mechanism. Kinetic measurements made by the stopped-flow method show that the reaction between the monomeric molybdenum complexes and P(4) is first-order both in metal complex and in P(4). Cyclo-P(3) complexes can be obtained when ancillary ligand steric demands are small, but kinetic measurements rule them out as monometallic intermediates in the P(4) activation mechanism. Also studied by calorimetric, kinetic, and in one case variable-temperature NMR methods is the process of mu-phosphide bridge formation. Post-rate-determining steps of the P(4) activation process were examined in a search for minima on the reaction's potential energy surface, leading to the proposal of two plausible, parallel, bimetallic reaction channels. 相似文献

Synthetic studies are reported that show that the reaction of either H2SnR2 (R = Ph, n-Bu) or HMo(CO)3(Cp) (1-H, Cp = eta(5)-C5H5) with Mo(N[t-Bu]Ar)3 (2, Ar = 3,5-C6H3Me2) produce HMo(N[t-Bu]Ar)3 (2-H). The benzonitrile adduct (PhCN)Mo(N[t-Bu]Ar)3 (2-NCPh) reacts rapidly with H2SnR2 or 1-H to produce the ketimide complex (Ph(H)C=N)Mo(N[t-Bu]Ar)3 (2-NC(H)Ph). The X-ray crystal structures of both 2-H and 2-NC(H)Ph are reported. The enthalpy of reaction of 1-H and 2 in toluene solution has been measured by solution calorimetry (DeltaH = -13.1 +/- 0.7 kcal mol(-1)) and used to estimate the Mo-H bond dissociation enthalpy (BDE) in 2-H as 62 kcal mol(-1). The enthalpy of reaction of 1-H and 2-NCPh in toluene solution was determined calorimetrically as DeltaH = -35.1 +/- 2.1 kcal mol(-1). This value combined with the enthalpy of hydrogenation of [Mo(CO)3(Cp)]2 (1(2)) gives an estimated value of 90 kcal mol(-1) for the BDE of the ketimide C-H of 2-NC(H)Ph. These data led to the prediction that formation of 2-NC(H)Ph via nitrile insertion into 2-H would be exothermic by approximately 36 kcal mol(-1), and this reaction was observed experimentally. Stopped flow kinetic studies of the rapid reaction of 1-H with 2-NCPh yielded DeltaH(double dagger) = 11.9 +/- 0.4 kcal mol(-1), DeltaS(double dagger) = -2.7 +/- 1.2 cal K(-1) mol(-1). Corresponding studies with DMo(CO)3(Cp) (1-D) showed a normal kinetic isotope effect with kH/kD approximately 1.6, DeltaH(double dagger) = 13.1 +/- 0.4 kcal mol(-1) and DeltaS(double dagger) = 1.1 +/- 1.6 cal K(-1) mol(-1). Spectroscopic studies of the much slower reaction of 1-H and 2 yielding 2-H and 1/2 1(2) showed generation of variable amounts of a complex proposed to be (Ar[t-Bu]N)3Mo-Mo(CO)3(Cp) (1-2). Complex 1-2 can also be formed in small equilibrium amounts by direct reaction of excess 2 and 1(2). The presence of 1-2 complicates the kinetic picture; however, in the presence of excess 2, the second-order rate constant for H atom transfer from 1-H has been measured: 0.09 +/- 0.01 M(-1) s(-1) at 1.3 degrees C and 0.26 +/- 0.04 M(-1) s(-1) at 17 degrees C. Study of the rate of reaction of 1-D yielded kH/kD = 1.00 +/- 0.05 consistent with an early transition state in which formation of the adduct (Ar[t-Bu]N)3Mo...HMo(CO)3(Cp) is rate limiting. 相似文献
