A bicyclo[3.1.0]hexane, with one cyclopropane carbon flanked by a ketone and an ester or an aldehyde, undergoes methanolysis with cleavage of one of the two activated cyclopropane bonds, depending on the reaction conditions. Three new azo-benzene-based push-pull chromophores with dendritic architecture were synthesized as active materials for electro-optic applications. These chromophores were synthesized in six or seven synthetic steps with an overall yield of around 80% per step and high purity. UV-vis spectroscopy showed significant influence of the transient dipole moment on the observed r(33) values. The chromophores were stable to photochemical oxidation in ambient light and air. The electrical poling conditions were optimized for each chromophore as the T(g) of the composite material varied significantly. The highest EO coefficient achieved was 22-25 pm/V at 1550 nm wavelength. STEM analysis of the blends enabled the correlation of the activity of these large chromophores with the blend morphology. An amorphous polycarbonate host effectively disperses the chromophores in 2-20 nm aggregates in the active materials. However, macrophase separation into 200-500 nm aggregates was observed in a methacrylate host matrix.  相似文献

[formula: see text] Hexamethylbipyrazine-N,N',N",N"'-tetraoxide (1) is synthesized in racemic form and cocrystallized with tetracyanoethylene to give a donor-acceptor (DA) networked lattice. The resulting DA2 cocrystal contains homochiral 2-D DA arrays (layers) cohered by 2.7 A NO...C=C DA bonds with periplanar O p-orbital/C=C orientations. Layer formation is stereoselective, while interlayer relations yield a racemic lattice.  相似文献

The kinetics of formation of polyurethane prepolymers is studied by an analytical technique which involves reactive quenching of the isocyanate, separation of the oligomeric species by GPC, and measurement by UV absorbance of the quenched moieties. The precision of the kinetic parameters and the ratios of the oligomers are determined. The effect of changes in reactant stoichiometry on the ratio of oligomers is measured and compared to the value predicted by an equation from Flory. Toluene diisocyanate is shown to give fewer high oligomers than predicted, while methylene diphenylene diisocyanate gives nearly the predicted values. Tetramethylxylene diisocyanate gives more high oligomers than predicted, an unexpected but possibly important result. Catalyst is shown to increase the reaction rate of the last by more than 200 times. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

An intercomparison of sampling procedures used by five laboratories for the determination of radiocaesium in vegetation and peaty soil was carried out at two locations in Cumbria. The multiple sampling has given information on the homogeneity of the parameters studied at each location. The parameters comprise soil bulk densities, total deposition of137Cs, deposition of137Cs in three soil layers, biomass densities, concentrations of137Cs in pasture, and activity ratios (134Cs/137Cs) in soil and vegetation. The determination of total deposition of137Cs gave no indication of differences between the laboratories. The results from the soil profiles do indicate significant differences between laboratories. One laboratory using a coring technique observed difficulties during sampling due to compression of the soil. The coring technique should thus be avoided or applied with extreme care for the sampling of depth profiles in peaty soil. The results from the sampling of pasture show no indication of differences between the laboratories. For the parameters studied the observed variabilities across soil depths and locations range from 10% to 81% in terms of relative standard deviations. A comparison across all results at the two locations indicate a 50% higher field variability at one of the sites relative to the other.  相似文献

Gas-phase intra-molecular crosslinking of protein ubiquitin cations has been demonstrated via ion/ion reactions with anions of a homobifunctional N-hydroxysulfosuccinimide (sulfo-NHS) ester reagent. The ion/ion reaction between multiply-protonated ubiquitin and crosslinker monoanions produces a stable, charge-reduced complex. Covalent crosslinking is indicated by the consecutive loss of 2 molecules of sulfo-NHS under ion trap collisional activation conditions. Covalent modification is verified by the presence of covalently crosslinked sequence ions produced by ion-trap collision-induced dissociation of the ion generated from the losses of sulfo-NHS. Analysis of the crosslinked sequence fragments allows for the localization of crosslinked primary amines, enabling proximity mapping of the gas-phase 3-D structures. The presence of two unprotonated reactive sites within the distance constraint of the crosslinker is required for successful crosslinking. The ability to covalently crosslink is, therefore, sensitive to protein charge state. As the charge state increases, fewer reactive sites are available and protein structure is more likely to become extended because of intramolecular electrostatic repulsion. At high charge states, the reagent shows little evidence for covalent crosslinking but does show evidence for ‘electrostatic crosslinking’ in that the binding of the sulfonate groups to the protein is sufficiently strong that backbone cleavages are favored over reagent detachment under ion trap collisional activation conditions.   相似文献
