Detecting organic vapors using a conductometric sensor prepared from Ardel®D-100 and graphite

The composites of graphite with Ardel^?D-100 which is a trademark of a polyester of bisphenol-A with terephthalic and isophthalic acid were used as a sensing material in a conductometric vapor sensor. The magnitudes of responses are increased in the order of benzene, isobutyl acetate, isoamyl acetate, ethyl benzene and chloro benzene. This suggests that Ardel^?D-100 can be used as a sensing material for chlorobenzene, ethyl benzene and isoamyl acetate. On the other hand, specific retention volumes of the sensed vapors on Ardel^?D-100 coated on graphite were determined by inverse gas chromatography at temperatures between 200 and 260 °C. The distribution coefficient, K _s of the vapors between stationary and mobile phases in the column was obtained. It was revealed for the first time that the logarithm of K _s of the solvents varies almost linearly with their responses based on conductometric resistance of the sensing polymer composite. Subsequently, the study suggests that gas chromatographic retention data can be used in prediction of the conductometric responses of a polymeric sensor to vapors. Prodrugs of aza nucleosides based on proton transfer reaction

DFT calculation results for intramolecular proton transfer reactions in Kirby’s enzyme models 1–7 reveal that the reaction rate is quite responsive to geometric disposition, especially to distance between the two reactive centers, r _GM, and the angle of attack, α (the hydrogen bonding angle). Hence, the study on the systems reported herein could provide a good basis for designing aza nucleoside prodrug systems that are less hydrophilic than their parental drugs and can be used, in different dosage forms, to release the parent drug in a controlled manner. For example, based on the calculated log EM, the cleavage process for prodrug 1ProD is predicted to be about 10¹⁰ times faster than that for prodrug 7ProD and about 10⁴ times faster than prodrug 3ProD: rate _1ProD  > rate _3ProD  > rate _7ProD . Hence, the rate by which the prodrug releases the aza nucleoside drug can be determined according to the structural features of the linker (Kirby’s enzyme model).     

Commutators of sublinear operators generated by Calderón-Zygmund operator on generalized weighted Morrey spaces

In this paper, the boundedness of a large class of sublinear commutator operators T _b generated by a Calderón-Zygmund type operator on a generalized weighted Morrey spaces \({M_{p,\varphi }}(w)\) with the weight function w belonging to Muckenhoupt’s class A _p is studied. When 1 < p < ∞ and b ∈ BMO, sufficient conditions on the pair (φ ₁, φ ₂) which ensure the boundedness of the operator T _b from \({M_{p,\varphi 1}}(w)\) to \({M_{p,\varphi 2}}(w)\) are found. In all cases the conditions for the boundedness of T _b are given in terms of Zygmund-type integral inequalities on (φ ₁, φ ₂), which do not require any assumption on monotonicity of φ ₁(x, r), φ ₂(x, r) in r. Then these results are applied to several particular operators such as the pseudo-differential operators, Littlewood-Paley operator, Marcinkiewicz operator and Bochner-Riesz operator.     

Study of sensitometric and holographic properties of photoresist media based on carbazole-containing polymers sensitized with triiodomethane and pyran photochromic materials

Sensitometric and holographic properties of photoresist layers made from carbazolylalkyl methacrylate copolymers and polyepoxypropylcarbazole sensitized with triiodomethane and, additionally, spiropyran photochromic compounds were studied. It was found that the introduction of photochromic 6′-bromo-8′-nitro-1,3,3-trimethylindolylspirobenzopyran (8–12%) into photoresist layers increased their photographic sensitivity by a factor of 2.5–3 up to the values of 10^?3–10^?4 J cm^?2 and shifted their spectral sensitivity to the blue-green region. The feasibility of recording quality holograms in the photoresist layers using coherent He-Cd laser light (λ = 420 nm), as well as argon laser light (λ = 490 nm), was shown. Diffraction gratings with an efficiency of 15–20% and a resolution of 2000 mm^?1 were obtained.     

Synthesis,Characterization, and Antibacterial Activity of Novel Pyridones

Novel ethyl 2-oxo-4,6-diaryl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyridine-3-carboxylate and 4,6-diaryl-3,4-dihydropyridine-2(1H)-one derivatives have been synthesized from the cyclization of adducts of diethylmalonate to chalcones with ammonium acetate. The structures were established on the basis of extensive spectroscopic methods and further confirmed by X-ray crystallographic analysis. Antibacterial activity of obtained pyridones was investigated against four human pathogen microorganisms and the compounds showed poor activity.

A study of the photoluminescence of crystals of the hexagonal modification of Β-Ga2As3

The excitation and radiation spectra of-Ga₂As₃ crystals have been studied. The radiation spectrum consists of two overlapping bands (1.44 and 1.61 eV) and a very weak band in the 2.8–2.9 eV region. The temperature dependence of the halfwidth of the luminescence bands was studied and the position of the levels responsible for the luminescence were determined: E_1,v = 0.84 eV and E_2,v = 0.59 eV. These luminescence bands in -Ga₂As₃ crystals undergo thermal quenching. The kinetics of the photoconductivity and the photoluminescence were studied and it was shown that the recombination of nonequilibrium carriers occurs by two channels: via fast s levels and slow r levels, the trapping cross section of the latter being .Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 9, pp. 72–75, September, 1972.
