The interaction of ibuprofen [2-(4-isobutylphenyl)propionic acid] with the surface of carbon and oxide adsorbents was investigated. The significant role of wide pores during the adsorption of ibuprofen on carbon adsorbents in the presence of protein molecules was demonstrated. At low concentrations ibuprofen is adsorbed on the surface of hydrophilic and hydrophobic adsorbents in the form of a monomer, but the contribution from the adsorbed dimer increases with increase in its concentration. 相似文献

Adsorbents synthesized by grafting of titania onto mesoporous silica gel surfaces at different temperatures were studied by means of nitrogen adsorption–desorption and water desorption. The pore size distribution f(Rp) of titania/silica gel depends on the titania concentration (CTiO2) and the temperature of titania synthesis. Nonuniformity of TiO2 phase is maximal at a low CTiO2 value (3.2 wt.% anatase deposited at 473 K), and two peaks of the fractal dimension distribution f(D) are observed at such a concentration of titania, but at larger CTiO2 values, only one f(D) peak is seen. More ordered filling of pores and adsorption sites by nitrogen, reflecting in the shape of adsorption energy distributions f(E) at different pressures of adsorbate, is observed for adsorbent with titania (rutile+anatase) grafted on silica gel at a higher temperature (673 K). 相似文献

Mesoporous silica gels modified due to pyrolysis of acetylacetone or acetylacetonates (AcAc) of zirconium [Zr(AcAc)(4)], titanium [titanyl TiO(AcAc)(2)], nickel [Ni(AcAc)(2)], zinc [Zn(AcAc)(2)], chromium [Cr(AcAc)(3)], and cobalt [Co(AcAc)(2)] were studied using nitrogen adsorption-desorption, TPD-DTG, TEM, XRD, and XRF methods. Grafted C/X phases consist of metal compounds (X denotes oxide, silicate, or metal crystallites) and pregraphite pyrocarbon, whose characteristics can be varied by changing the metal in M(AcAc)(n). The structural parameters of C/X/SiO(2), such as the specific surface area of micro- and mesopores, pore volume, pore size and fractal dimension distributions, and adsorptive ability, depend nonlinearly on the concentrations of the C/X deposit due to alterations in the topology of grafted matters with increased concentrations and a possible catalytic effect of the X phase on pyrolysis. The interaction of fumed silica A-300 (S(BET) = 297 m2 g(-1)) with bovine serum albumin (prepared by different methods), ovalbumin, human hemoglobin, and gelatin as a function of pH, salinity, and concentrations of components in aqueous medium was studied by adsorption and photon correlation spectroscopy (PCS) methods. Comparison of equilibrium (incubation time t(i) approximately 1 h) adsorption of proteins on A-300, minute (t(i) approximately 1 min) flocculation rate, and the particle size distributions measured by the PCS method shows different rearrangement of particle swarms depending on pH, salinity, and concentration of proteins, especially at pH close to IEP of silica or proteins. The electrokinetic mobility of protein/silica swarms is greater than that of individual components at pH far from the IEP of proteins. Changes in the Gibbs free energy (DeltaG) on protein adsorption depend on pH (-DeltaG is minimal at pH 2, close to the IEP of silica, and maximal at pH between the IEP of protein and silica), concentration (-DeltaG is maximal at C(p) between 1 and 6 mg/ml), type of proteins, and their preparation technique. 相似文献

A series of fumed oxides such as silica, titania, alumina, silica/alumina (SA), silica/titania (ST), and alumina/silica/titania (AST), initial and hydrothermally treated (HTT) in the steam phase at T(HTT)=150, 250, and 350 degrees C was studied by adsorption, AFM, XRD, FTIR, and theoretical methods. Diminution of the size of primary particles (corresponding to increasing S(BET)) of initial silica and mixed oxides results in enhancement of their structural changes on HTT with elevating T(HTT) and increasing density of packing of primary particles in the secondary structures. Relative changes in the texture of treated fumed silicas are smaller than those of mesoporous silica gels occurring under similar HTT conditions. On HTT, aggregates of primary particles and their agglomerates become denser but their surface layers become looser because of transfer of silica fragments from one particle to another, and the smaller the initial primary particles, the greater the relative diminution of the specific surface area S(BET) for the same type of primary particle packing in aggregates. Relative changes in the pore volume V(p) (or V(BJHd)) on HTT are more complex than that of S(BET), as for many samples the V(p) value increases especially at T(HTT)=150 degrees C. An analytical study is presented on the thermocapillary migration of a fluid sphere within a constant applied temperature gradient in an arbitrary direction with respect to a plane surface. The Peclet and Reynolds numbers are assumed to be small so that the Laplace and Stokes equations, respectively, govern the temperature distributions and fluid velocities inside and outside the droplet. The asymptotic formulas for the temperature and the velocity fields in the quasi-steady situation are obtained by using a method of reflections. The plane surface can be a no-slip solid wall and/or a perfect-slip free surface. The boundary effect on the thermocapillary migration is found to be weaker than that on the motion driven by a body force. Even so, the interaction between the plane and the droplet can be very significant when the gap thickness approaches zero. For the motion of a droplet normal to a solid wall, the effect of the plane surface reduces the translational velocity of the droplet; however, this solid wall can be an enhancement factor on the particle migration as it is translating parallel to the wall. On the other hand, in case of a droplet migrating close to a free surface due to thermocapillarity, the droplet velocity can be either greater or smaller than that which would exist in the absence of the plane surface, depending on the relative thermal conductivity and the surface properties of the particle and its relative distance from the plane. Furthermore, the interacting thickness of the affected region by the presence of the plane is discussed by considering the droplet mobility.
