 To describe the flows of fluids over a wide range of pressures, it is necessary to take into account the fact that the viscosity of the fluid depends on the pressure. That the viscosity depends on the pressure has been verified by numerous careful experiments. While the existence of solutions local-in-time to the equations governing the flows of such fluids are available for small, special data and rather unrealistic dependence of the viscosity on the pressure, no global existence results are in place. Our interest here is to establish the existence of weak solutions for spatially periodic three-dimensional flows that are global in time, for a large class of physically meaningful viscosity-pressure relationships. X-ray analysis and magnetic properties have been studied for the system Co0.6Zn0.4MnxFe2-xO4. The bulk density, X-ray density and porosity were also studied. It was found that the lattice constant decreased with increasing manganese concentration x. The X-ray density, the bulk density and porosity do depend on the manganese content. The magnetic susceptibility and the activation energies were found to be increased with increasing percentage of the manganese ions while the dc conductivity decreased.  相似文献

A waveguide in integrated optics is defined by its refractiveindex. The guide is assumed to be invariant in the propagationdirection while in the transverse direction it is supposed tobe a compact perturbation of an unbounded stratified medium.We are interested in the modes guided by this device, whichare waves with a transverse energy confined in a neighbourhoodof the perturbation. Our goal is to analyse the existence of such guided modes. Underthe assumptions of weak guidance the problem reduces to a two-dimensionaleigenvalue problem for a scalar field. The associated operatoris unbounded, selfadjoint, and bounded from below. Its spectrumconsists of the discrete spectrum corresponding to the guidedmodes and of the essential spectrum corresponding to the radiationmodes. We present existence results of guided modes and an asymptoticstudy at high frequencies, which shows that contrarily to thecase of optical fibers, the number of guided modes can remainbounded. The major tools are the min-max principle and comparisonof results between different eigenvalue problems. The originalityof the present study lies in the stratified character of theunbounded reference medium.  相似文献

In a big organization like the Australian Post Office, where large sums of money are spent to purchase a very large number of items every financial year, the problem is that of allocating the orders of the different items to the competing tenderers at a minimum cost. We have dealt with this in two sections; one is devoted to quantity discounts, the other to order value discounts. We have shown the mathematical formulation using integer and mixed integer linear programming, the mathematical programming systems used, the benefits gained and costs incurred, and the effects of the implementation of minimum cost allocation techniques on the organizational structure of some sections of the A.P.O. We have also shown that these techniques could be used to analyse the relative economic efficiencies of the competing tenderers with the objective of formulating a suitable economic purchasing policy for the organization concerned.  相似文献

Background  

Opioid agonist drugs produce analgesia. However, long-term exposure to opioid agonists may lead to opioid dependence. The analgesic and addictive properties of opioid agonist drugs are mediated primarily via the mu-opioid receptor (MOR). Opioid agonists appear to alter neuronal morphology in key brain regions implicated in the development of opioid dependence. However, the precise role of the MOR in the development of these neuronal alterations remains elusive. We hypothesize that identifying and characterizing novel MOR interacting proteins (MORIPs) may help to elucidate the underlying mechanisms involved in the development of opioid dependence.  相似文献

We examine a local realist bound in the case of a one-atom micromaser. It is shown that such a bound is violated using a simplified treatment of the micromaser. We consider the effect of dissipation in a proposed experiment with the real micromaser. It is seen that the magnitude of violation of a Bell-type inequality depends significantly on the cavity parameters.  相似文献

The use of infrared laser-assisted fluorination to release oxygen from milligram quantities of silicates or other oxide mineral grains is a well-established technique. However, relatively few studies have reported the optimisation of this procedure for oxygen-17 isotope measurements. We describe here details of an analytical system using infrared (10 μm) laser-assisted fluorination, in conjunction with a dual inlet mass spectrometer of high resolving power ( approximately 250) to provide (17)O and (18)O oxygen isotope measurements from 0.5-2 mg of silicates or other oxide mineral grains. Respective precisions (1) of typically 0.08 and 0.04 per thousand are obtained for the complete analytical procedure. Departures from the mass-dependent oxygen isotope fractionation line are quantified by Delta(17)O; our precision (1) of such measurements on individual samples is shown to be +/-0.024 per thousand. In turn, this permits the offset between parallel, mass-dependent fractionation lines to be characterised to substantially greater precision than has been possible hitherto. Application of this system to investigate the (17)O versus (18)O relationship for numerous terrestrial whole-rock and mineral samples, of diverse geological origins and age, indicates that the complete data set may be described by a single, mass-dependent fractionation line of slope 0.5244+/- 0.00038 (standard error). The interaction of the mixed oxygen-nitrogen cyclic base, N,N'-dibenzyl-1,4,10,13-tetraoxa-7,16-diazacyclooctadecane (DD18C6) with pi-acceptors such as picric acid (HPA) and 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-1,4-benzoquinone (DDQ) has been studied spectrophotometrically in chloroform at 25 degrees C. The results obtained indicate the formation of 1:4 charge-transfer complexes with the general formula (DD18C6)(acceptor)4. The electronic and infrared spectra of charge-transfer complexes along with the (1)H NMR spectra were recorded and discussed. Based on the data obtained, the complexes were formulated as [(DD18C6H2)(HPA)2](PA)2 and [(DD18C6H2)(DDQ)2](DDQH)2. A general mechanism explaining the formation of the DDQ complex has been suggested.  相似文献

Glucose responsive block copolymer featuring boronic acid as a glucose responsive moiety and glycine are reported. The first block is polymerized through reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization and the resulting poly(N‐acryloylmorpholine)113 (PAcM) is employed as a macro‐chain transfer agent for chain extension with pentafluorophenyl acrylate (PFPA) yielding a well‐defined PAcM113block‐poly(pentafluorophenyl acrylate)84 (PPFPA). The PPFPA block is then reacted with functional (3‐aminomethyl) phenyl boronic acid and glycine via post‐polymerization modification and the structure of the block copolymer is confirmed by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), 19F NMR, Fourier transform infrared, and gel permeation chromatography. By copolymerizing glycine into the polymer backbone, the relative pKa of the block copolymer is significantly lowered. The block copolymer can self‐assemble into core–shell micelles in aqueous solution and disassemble in response to glucose at the physiological pH. Furthermore, the encapsulation and release of Nile red (NR) as a hydrophobic model drug is studied under the physiological pH. The influence of the glucose concentration on the NR release from the polymeric micelles is demonstrated. These results suggested that the glucose‐responsive poly[(AcM)113b‐(3‐(aminomethyl)phenylboronic acid hydrochloride(‐co‐Gly)84] block copolymer has potential applications as a glucose‐responsive polymer for insulin delivery. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two complexes were obtained during the reactions of 6-amino-1-methyl-5-nitrosouracil (AMNU) and 6-methylamino-1-benzyl-5-nitrosouracil (MABNU) with cis-diaquadiamineplatinum(II) nitrate complex, cis-[Pt(NH3)2(H2O)2](NO3)2. The complexes were isolated in good yields as powdery precipitates. They were characterized through their elemental analysis, infrared, UV–vis, and 1H NMR spectroscopies as well as thermal analyses. The obtained results indicated that, pyrimidine bases substitute easily aqua ligands and interact with Pt(II) ions as a monodentate ligand in the neutral and ionic form for the ligands AMNU and MABNU, respectively. The exocyclic oxygen atoms are the most probable binding site. Square planar structures, cis-form, were proposed in both cases. The free ligands, and their Pt(II) complexes were screened for their antimicrobial activities.  相似文献
