We review the current status of the neutrino mass and mixing parameters needed to reconstruct the neutrino mass matrix. A
comparative study of the precision in the measurement of oscillation parameters expected from the next-generation solar, atmospheric,
reactor-and accelerator-based neutrino experiments is presented. We discuss the potential of 0νββ experiments in determining the neutrino mass hierarchy and the importance of a better ϑ
12 measurement for it.

We study spectral distortions of diffuse ultra-high energy (UHE) neutrino flavour fluxes resulting due to physics beyond the Standard Model (SM). Even large spectral differences between flavours at the source are massaged into a common shape at earth by SM oscillations, thus, any significant observed spectral differences are an indicator of new physics present in the oscillation probability during propagation. Lorentz symmetry violation (LV) and neutrino decay are examples, and result in significant distortion of the fluxes and of the well-known bounds on them, which may allow UHE detectors to probe LV parameters, lifetimes and the mass hierarchy over a broad range. 相似文献

We consider the flavor symmetry
for the neutrino mass matrix. The most general neutrino mass matrix conserving
predicts quasi-degenerate neutrino masses with one maximal and two zero mixing angles. The presence of
can also be motivated by the near-bimaximal form of the neutrino mixing matrix. Furthermore, it is a special case of
symmetric mass matrices. Breaking the flavor symmetry by adding a small flavor-blind term to the neutrino mass matrix and/or by applying radiative corrections is shown to reproduce the observed neutrino oscillation phenomenology. Both the normal and inverted mass ordering can be accommodated within this scheme. Moderate cancellation for neutrinoless double beta decay is expected. The observables |U
e3|2 and
are proportional to the inverse of the fourth power of the common neutrino mass scale. We comment on whether the atmospheric neutrino mixing is expected to lie above or below
. We finally present a model based on the see-saw mechanism which generates a light neutrino mass matrix with an (approximate)
flavor symmetry. This is a minimal model with just one standard Higgs doublet and three heavy right-handed neutrinos. It needs only small values for the soft
breaking terms to reproduce the phenomenological viable mass textures analyzed.Received: 18 November 2004, Revised: 13 December 2004, Published online: 15 February 2005 相似文献

The morphology and electronic structure of the (110) surface of semi-insulating CdZnTe has been studied by scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy. The surface shows a 1 × 1 reconstruction whilst the tunneling spectra are highly rectified implying that imaging could only be performed at negative sample bias. Theoretical computations of the tunnel current have been used to fit to experiment to reveal the origin of each tunneling component and explain the rectification observed. The implications of various surface defects and surface states are considered. A discussion on scanning tunneling microscopy and spectroscopy on semi-insulating materials in general is also given. 相似文献

The alkaline-earth fluorohalide crystals MFX, where M=Ca, Sr, Ba, Pb and X=Cl, Br, I, form an important class of materials crystallizing in the PbFCl-type tetragonal structure which is also called the matlockite structure. These compounds have long been of interest because of the various defect species which can be detected by spin resonance and associated techniques. The crystals were prepared by slow cooling of the melt of a stoichiometric mixture of BaF 2 and the corresponding chloride or bromide under 0.2 bar of ultrapure argon (5N5), often slightly fluorinated. We have studied the mechanoluminescence (ML) of BaFBr:Sm 2+ and BaFCl:Sm 2+ crystals. It is seen that after the impact of a moving piston, initially the ML intensity increases with time, attains a maximum value and then it decreases with time up to a particular minimum value, and then it increases again, attaining a peak value and finally disappears. The first peak lies in the deformation region and the second peak lies in the post-deformation region. The ML intensity of the BaFCl:Sm 2+ crystal is much higher than the ML intensity of the BaFBr:Sm 2+ crystal. For different impact velocities, the ML intensity increases with velocity; and the total ML intensity attains a saturation value for higher impact velocities. The total ML intensity increases with the increase in the applied load. It is suggested that the moving dislocation produced during deformation of crystals captures holes from hole-trapped centers (like H centers), and the subsequent radiative recombination of the dislocation holes with electron gives rise to ML. Thermoluminescence (TL) of BaFBr:Sm 2+ and BaFCl:Sm 2+ crystals was studied after exposure to ultraviolet rays with the help of a TLD reader. The peak of TL for the BaFBr:Sm 2+ crystal is found at ~247°C and for BaFCl:Sm 2+ crystals at 283°C. The TL intensity initially increases with increase in the UV radiation and then it attains saturation for higher values of UV exposure. The absorption spectrum was recorded with the help of a UV–visible spectrophotometer (Shimadzu). The band found at 275 nm was attributed to H centers. 相似文献

Wachspress quadrilateral patches have been recently studied from the point of view of applications to surface modelling in CAGD [1], [3], [4]. Some more applications for defining barycentric coordinates for arbitrary polygons have also been presented in [5] [9]. The purpose of the present paper is to introduce non-negative Wachspress rational basis functions for surface modelling on pentagonal partitions. Interpolation formula for function values and directional derivatives at the vertices of pentagon has been presented. Conditions for C1– continuity of the composite surface have also been studied in the paper. (© 2008 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim) 相似文献
