The non-linear equations of motion describing the laminar, isothermal and incompressible flow in a rectangular domain bounded by two weakly permeable, moving porous walls, which enable the fluid to enter or exit during successive expansions or contractions, are considered. We apply Lie-group method for determining symmetry reductions of partial differential equations. Lie-group method starts out with a general infinitesimal group of transformations under which given partial differential equations are invariant, then, the determining equations are derived. The determining equations are a set of linear differential equations, the solution of which gives the infinitesimals of the dependent and independent variables. After the group has been determined, a solution to the given partial differential equation may be found from the invariant surface condition such that its solution leads to similarity variables that reduce the number of independent variables in the system. Effect of the permeation Reynolds number Re and the dimensionless wall dilation rate α on self-axial velocity have been studied both analytically and numerically and the results are plotted.  相似文献

The variation with temperature and frequency of the dielectric constant ε′ and the dielectric loss ε″ for sheet wood pulp and ground wood pulp were measured. Also, the effect of the relative humidity on the dielectric behavior was measured for the ground sample at 25°C. For the dry ground wood pulp, the dielectric constant is larger than that for the dry sheet sample. This may be a result of the increase in the surface area, of the decrease in the size of crystals and/or of the decrease in the degree of crystallinity on grinding of the sheet sample. The variation of ε″ with frequency passes through a maximum. From the shift of this maximum with temperature, it is found that the apparent activation energy ΔH for this relaxation is equal to 7.06 kcal/mole and it is attributed to the polarization of the OH groups in the cellulose molecule. From the relation between the dielectric constant and the specific resistivity Rs, the dissociation energy U0 for the ground wood pulp was calculated. U0 for this sample below and above 52% RH is 0.315 and 5.13 × 10?12 erg, respectively. Also, the dissociation energy of Egyptian Ashmouny cotton was calculated. The variation of the electrical conductivity σ with humidity for different types of cellulosic materials is represented graphically.  相似文献

The effect of the velocity parameter λ, which is the ratio of the external free stream velocity to the stretching surface velocity, permeability parameter of the porous medium k 1, and Prandtl number Pr on the horizontal and transverse velocities, temperature profiles, surface heat flux and the wall shear stress, has been studied.  相似文献

Dilute-acid hydrolysis pretreatment of sugarcane bagasse resulted in release of 48% (18.4 g/L) of the xylan in the hemicellulose fraction into the hydrolysate as monomeric xylose. In order to enhance the recuperation of this monomer, a post-hydrolysis stage consisted of thermal treatment was carried out. This treatment resulted in an increase in xylose release of 62% (23.5 g/L) of the hemicellulose fraction. Original and post-hydrolysates were concentrated to the same levels of monomeric xylose in the fermentor feed. During the fermentation process, cellular growth was observed to be higher in the post-hydrolysate (3.5 g/L, Y x/s?=?0.075 g cells/g xylose) than in the original hydrolysate (2.9 g/L, Y x/s?=?0.068 g cells/g xylose). The post-treated hydrolysate required less concentration of sugars resulting in a lower concentration of fermentation inhibitors, which were formed primarily in the dilute acid hydrolysis step. Post-hydrolysis step led to a high xylose–xylitol conversion efficiency of 76% (0.7 g xylitol/g xylose) and volumetric productivity of 0.68 g xylitol/L h when compared to 71% (0.65 g xylitol/g xylose and productivity of 0.61 g xylitol/L h) for the original hemicellulosic hydrolysate.  相似文献

Xenobiotic metabolizing heme enzymes are thought to take a crucial part in the activation of a variety of carcinogens, including nitro compounds, through catalytic electron-transfer reactions, especially under anaerobic conditions. Myoglobin (Mb), as a model heme enzyme, is found to act as an efficient electrocatalyst for the reduction of nitromethane in thin surfactant films on pyrolytic graphite electrodes. The electrocatalytic process is characterized by cyclic voltammetry. The Mb-Fe(II)-nitrosomethane complex, a possible intermediate in the catalysis, is characterized spectroscopically in the surfactant film on indium tin oxide electrodes. Bulk electrolysis indicates the formation of mainly methylhydroxylamine as an end aqueous product. A rationale for the catalysis invokes the highly reduced Fe(I) state of myoglobin in surfactant film; the latter engages in efficient inner-sphere electron transfers to the nitro compound coupled to proton transfers.  相似文献

Ten yeast strains were evaluated concerning their capabilities to assimilate biodiesel-derived glycerol in batch cultivation. The influence of glycerol concentration, temperature, pH and yeast extract concentration on biomass production was studied for the yeast selected. Further, the effect of agitation on glycerol utilization by the yeast Hansenula anomala was also studied. The yeast H. anomala CCT 2648 showed the highest biomass yield (0.30?g?g?1) and productivity (0.19?g?L?1?h?1). Citric acid, succinic acid, acetic acid and ethanol were found as the main metabolites produced. The increase of yeast extract concentration from 1 to 3?g?L?1 resulted in high biomass production. The highest biomass concentration (21?g?L?1), yield (0.45?g?g?1) and productivity (0.31?g?L?1?h?1), as well as ribonucleotide production (13.13?mg?g?1), were observed at 700?rpm and 0.5?vvm. These results demonstrated that glycerol from biodiesel production process showed to be a feasible substrate for producing biomass and ribonucleotides by yeast species.  相似文献

Thermoluminescence (TL) dating and Proton Induced X-ray Emission (PIXE) techniques have been utilized for the study of archaeological pottery fragment samples from Tell Saka Site, which is located at 25 km south east of Damascus city, Syria. Four samples were chosen randomly from the site, two from third level and two from fourth level for dating using TL technique and the results were in good agreement with the date assigned by archaeologists. Twenty-eight sherds were analyzed using PIXE technique in order to identify and characterize the elemental composition of pottery excavated from third and fourth levels, using 3 MV tandem accelerator in Damascus. The analysis provided almost 20 elements (Na, Mg, Al, Si, P, S, K, Ca, Ti, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb). However, only 14 elements as follows: K, Ca, Ti, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Rb, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb were chosen for statistical analysis and have been processed using two multivariate statistical methods, Cluster and Factor analysis. The dielectric constant ?′ and the dielectric loss ?″ for cellulose fiber were measured over a frequency band 0.2 to 10 Mc/sec and a temperature range from ?20 to 80°C. Also, the variation of the dielectric behavior with relative humidity was measured at 25°C. From these data, both the specific resistivity Rs and the dissociation energy U0 were calculated. The results showed that the dielectric constant increased with frequency and temperature. This may be due to the increase in the rotation and the polarization of the flexible part in the fiber. The variation of the dielectric loss with temperature showed a maximum absorption corresponding to the β-relaxation. For the moist fiber, it is found that as the relative humidity increases, the dielectric constant and the dielectric loss increase. This increase may be due to the presence of polar water molecules, to the freeing of the polar groups, and to the freeing of the ions in the fiber molecule as well as to the increase in the number of OH? and H+ ions resulting from the ionization of water. A relation between the dielectric constant and resistivity at different humidities is represented graphically. From this relation, it is found that the dissociation energy is equal to 0.318 × 10?12 and 5.46 × 10?12 erg below and above 52% RH, respectively.  相似文献

In this paper, two new strians, Issatchenkia occidentalis (Lj-3, CCTCC M 2006097) and Issatchenkia orienalis (S-7, CCTCC M 2006098), isolated from different environments on solid media, were used in the detoxification process of the hemicellulosic hydrolysate of sugarcane bagasse. High-pressure liquid chromatography elution curve of UV-absorption compounds represented by acetic acid, furfural, and guaiacol (toxic compounds found in the hemicellulosic hydrolysate) showed that several chromatographic peaks were evidently diminished for the case of detoxified hydrolysate with isolate strains compared to the high peaks resulted for no detoxified hydrolysate. It was clear that these inhibitors were degraded by the two new isolates during their cultivation process. Fermentation results for the biodetoxified hydrolysate showed an increase in xylitol productivity (Q p) by 1.97 and 1.95 times (2.03 and 2.01 g l−1 h−1) and in xylitol yield (Y p) by 1.72 and 1.65 times (0.93 and 0.89 g xylitol per gram xylose) for hydrolysate treated with S-7 and Lj-3, respectively, in comparison with no detoxified hydrolysate (1.03 g l−1 h−1 and 0.54 g xylitol per gram xylose). This present work demonstrated the importance of Issatchenkia yeast in providing an effective biological detoxification approach to remove inhibitors and improve hydrolysate fermentability, leading to a high xylitol productivity and yield.  相似文献

Impregnation of as-synthesized MCM-41 silica by ethanolic solutions of rhodium(III) chloride was tested as an alternative to its introduction into the synthesis gel to get, after calcination and reduction by H2, highly dispersed metal(0) nanoparticles throughout the mesopores network. Rh(III) and Rh(0)–based solids thus obtained were analyzed by infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, transmission electron microscopy, N2 sorption, and X-ray diffraction. Materials with 1.6 wt % of rhodium could be obtained as a result of CTA+/Rh3+ exchange. The determining role of CTA+ was emphasized through blank experiments. In a second series of materials, ethanol was also exploited for its ability to reduce Rh(III). All Rh(0)-based solids were tested as catalysts in the hydrogenation of styrene under mild temperature and pressure conditions. Catalysis performances of the most efficient sample (reduced by H2) were further compared with those of a very similar material prepared by the introduction of Rh(III) directly into the synthesis gel of MCM-41 silica. Better cis selectivities in the hydrogenation of disubstituted arene derivatives were achieved with materials issued from the new preparation method.  相似文献
