Laterally-coupled ridge-waveguide distributed feedback lasers fabricated without epitaxial regrowth steps have the advantages of process simplification and low cost. We present a laterally coupled grating with slots. The slots etched between the ridge and grating area are designed to suppress the lateral diffusion of carriers and to reduce the influence of the aspect-ratio-dependent-etching effect on the grating morphology in the etching process. Moreover, the grating height in this structure can be decreased to lower the aspect ratio significantly, which is advantageous over the conventional laterally coupled ridge waveguide gratings. The effects of five main structural parameters on the coupling characteristics of gratings are studied by MODE Solutions. It is found that varying the lateral width of the grating can be used as an effective way to tune the coupling strength; narrow slots (100 nm and 300 nm) and wide ridge (2 μm-4 μm) promote the stability of grating coupling coefficient and device performance. It is important to note that the grating bottom should be fabricated precisely. The comparative study of carrier distribution and mode field distribution shows that the introduction of narrow slots can strengthen the competitive advantage and stability of the fundamental mode. 相似文献

We report on the growth and characterization of one‐dimensional (1D) planar all‐polymer photonic crystals (PhC) with high dielectric contrast (Δn = 0.3) prepared by spin coating using hyperbranched polyvinylsulfide polymers (HB‐PVS) as high refractive index material and cellulose acetate as low refractive index material. Solution processable HB‐PVS show a near ultraviolet absorption inducing an increased refractive index in the visible‐near infrared (n = 1.68, λ = 1000 nm). HBPVS:Cellulose Acetate Distributed Bragg Reflectors show a very clear fingerprint of the photonic band gap possessing the expected polarized dispersion properties as a function of the incidence angle. Moreover, engineered microcavities tuned on the weak fluorescence spectrum of the HB‐PVS show directional fluorescence enhancement effects due to spectral redistribution of the emission oscillator strength. The combination of all these properties testifies the high optical quality of the obtained photonic structures thus indicating HB‐PVS as an interesting material for the preparation of such PhC. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In order to effectively improve the quality of side information in distributed video coding, we propose a side information generation scheme based on a coefficient matrix improvement model. The discrete cosine transform coefficient bands of the Wyner–Ziv frame at the encoder side are divided into entropy coding coefficient bands and distributed video coding coefficient bands, and then the coefficients of entropy coding coefficient bands are sampled, which are divided into sampled coefficients and unsampled coefficients. For sampled coefficients, an adaptive arithmetic encoder is used for lossless compression. For unsampled coefficients and the coefficients of distributed video coding coefficient bands, the low density parity check accumulate encoder is used to calculate the parity bits, which are stored in the buffer and transmitted in small amount upon decoder request. At the decoder side, the optical flow method is used to generate the initial side information, and the initial side information is improved according to the sampled coefficients by using the coefficient matrix improvement model. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed side information generation scheme based on the coefficient matrix improvement model can effectively improve the quality of side information, and the quality of the generated side information is improved by about 0.2–0.4 dB, thereby improving the overall performance of the distributed video coding system. 相似文献

An extension of the extant microelectrostatic methodologies, based on the concept of distributed generalized polarizability matrix derived from the Coupled Perturbed Hartree–Fock (CPHF) equations, is proposed for self‐consistent calculation of charge carrier and charge‐transfer (CT) state electrostatic energies in molecular solids, including the doped, defected and disordered ones. The CPHF equations are solved only once and the generalized molecular polarizability they yield enables low cost iterations that mutually adjust the molecular electronic distributions and the local electric field in which the molecules are immersed. The approach offers a precise picture of molecular charge densities, accounting for atomic partial multipoles up to order 2, which allows one to reproduce the recently reported large charge‐quadrupole contributions to CT state energies in low‐symmetry local environments. It is particularly well suited for repetitive calculations for large clusters (up to 300,000 atoms), and may potentially be useful for describing electrostatic solvent effects. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 相似文献

This paper focuses on a distributed optimization problem associated with a time‐varying multi‐agent network with quantized communication, where each agent has local access to its convex objective function, and cooperatively minimizes a sum of convex objective functions of the agents over the network. Based on subgradient methods, we propose a distributed algorithm to solve this problem under the additional constraint that agents can only communicate quantized information through the network. We consider two kinds of quantizers and analyze the quantization effects on the convergence of the algorithm. Furthermore, we provide explicit error bounds on the convergence rates that highlight the dependence on the quantization levels. The global stability of equilibria is investigated for a nonlinear multi‐group epidemic model with latency and relapses described by two distributed delays. The results show that the global dynamics are completely determined by the basic reproduction number under certain reasonable conditions on the nonlinear incidence rate. Moreover, compared with the results in Michael Y. Li and Zhisheng Shuai, Journal Differential Equations 248 (2010) 1–20, it is found that the two distributed delays have no impact on the global behaviour of the model. A delayed multi‐group SVEIR epidemic model with vaccination and a general incidence function has been formulated and studied in this paper. Mathematical analysis shows that the basic reproduction number plays a key role in the dynamics of the model: the disease‐free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable when , while the endemic equilibrium exists uniquely and is globally asymptotically stable when . For the proofs, we exploit a graph‐theoretical approach to the method of Lyapunov functionals. This research study deals with the numerical solutions of linear and nonlinear time-fractional subdiffusion equations of distributed order. The main aim of our approach is based on the hybrid of block-pulse functions and shifted Legendre polynomials. We produce a novel and exact operational vector for the fractional Riemann–Liouville integral and use it via the Gauss–Legendre quadrature formula and collocation method. Consequently, we reduce the proposed equations to systems of equations. The convergence and error bounds for the new method are investigated. Six problems are tested to confirm the accuracy of the proposed approach. Comparisons between the obtained numerical results and other existing methods are provided. Numerical experiments illustrate the reliability, applicability, and efficiency of the proposed method. 相似文献
