We present a unified approach to establishing the existence of global minima of a (non)convex constrained optimization problem. Our results unify and generalize previous existence results for convex and nonconvex programs, including the Frank-Wolfe theorem, and for (quasi) convex quadratically constrained quadratic programs and convex polynomial programs. For example, instead of requiring the objective/constraint functions to be constant along certain recession directions, we only require them to linearly recede along these directions. Instead of requiring the objective/constraint functions to be convex polynomials, we only require the objective function to be a (quasi)convex polynomial over a polyhedral set and the constraint functions to be convex polynomials or the composition of coercive functions with linear mappings.We thank Professor Dimitri Bertsekas for his comments and support in the writing of this paper.  相似文献

This paper gives a solution existence theorem for a generalized variational inequality problem with an operator which is defined on an infinite dimensional space, which is C-pseudomonotone in the sense of Inoan and Kolumbán [D. Inoan, J. Kolumbán, On pseudomonotone set-valued mappings, Nonlinear Analysis 68 (2008) 47-53], but which may not be upper semicontinuous on finite dimensional subspaces. The proof of the theorem provides a new technique which reduces infinite variational inequality problems to finite ones. Two examples are given and analyzed to illustrate the theorem. Moreover, an example is presented to show that the C-pseudomonotonicity of the operator cannot be omitted in the theorem.  相似文献

The complex dielectric spectra of dipropylsulfoxide (DPSO)/water mixtures in the whole concentration range have been measured as a function of frequency between 100 MHz and 20 GHz at four temperatures between 298.15 K and 328.15 K. The dielectric parameters, static dielectric constant (εs), relaxation time (τ) and relaxation strength (Δε) have been obtained by the least squares fit method. The relaxation in these mixtures can be described by two Debye functions, whereas for pure DPSO Cole-Davidson type is valid. The relaxation times of the mixtures show a maximum at about x(DPSO) ≈ 0.3. In the concentration range where a maximum appears, the interaction of DPSO with water is presumably the result of hydrogen bonding between water and the sulfonyl group of the sulfoxide molecule. The concentration and temperature dependent excess dielectric constant and effective Kirkwood correlation factor of the binary mixtures have been determined. The excess permittivity is found to be negative for all concentrations.  相似文献

High-energy X-ray scattering (HEXS) has been used to understand the coordination environment of the uranyl ion in a perchlorate solution. Assuming the two coordinating oxo ligands bound to U(VI) are represented in a peak in the pair distribution function (PDF) at 1.766(1) A, integration of the peak intensity is used to quantify the charge located on the oxygens. The dioxo ligands are essentially neutral, as predicted by numerous published calculations, with a charge of -16.4(8) electrons. The peak in the PDF at 2.420(1) A is consistent with equatorial ligating waters. The intensity of this peak is inconsistent with an integral coordination number and is used to propose a solution equilibrium of five and four waters coordinating to the uranyl(VI) ion favoring the five-coordinate species. This equilibrium is then used to experimentally determine that five-coordinate uranyl is 1.19+/-0.42 kcal/mol more stable than its four-coordinate counterpart under the conditions of the experiment. Further peaks in the Fourier transform of the scattering data at 4.50, 7, and 8.7 A are attributed to uranium-solvent correlations.  相似文献

This paper is devoted to studying the initial value problem of the modified nonlinear Kawahara equation the first partial dervative of u to t ,the second the third +α the second partial dervative of u to x ,the second the third +β the third partial dervative of u to x ,the second the thire +γ the fifth partial dervative of u to x = 0,(x,t)∈R^2.We first establish several Strichartz type estimates for the fundamental solution of the corresponding linear problem. Then we apply such estimates to prove local and global existence of solutions for the initial value problem of the modified nonlinear Karahara equation. The results show that a local solution exists if the initial function uo(x) ∈ H^s(R) with s ≥ 1/4, and a global solution exists if s ≥ 2.  相似文献
