The problem of heat transfer to non-Newtonian laminar falling liquid films on horizontal tubes is investigated theoretically for constant heat flux and isothermal conditions imposed at the inner periphery of the tube. The local and average heat transfer coefficients are obtained as function of the system parameters by conjugating the convective transport of heat to the liquid film to the thermal conduction in the material of the tube in the peripheral direction. The results indicate that the average heat transfer coefficient can be described successfully by three dimensionless groups characterizing the dynamic flow characteristics of the film, modified Prandtl number and the index of the power law variation of the rate of angular shear deformation of the fluid with respect to the shear stress.Das Problem des Wärmeübergangs an laminar ablaufende Fallfilme nicht-Newtonscher Flüssigkeiten an horizontalen Rohren wird unter Voraussetzungen konstanter Temperatur bzw. konstanten Wärmeflusses bezüglich des Rohrinnenumfangs theoretisch untersucht. Die örtlichen und gemittelten Wärmeübergangskoeffizienten erhält man als Funktion der Systemparameter unter gleichzeitiger Berücksichtigung des konvektiven Wärmetransportes an dem Flüssigkeitsfilm und der Wärmeleitung im Rohrmaterial in Umfangsrichtung. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, daß sich der gemittelte Wärmeübergangskoeffizient zufriedenstellend in Abhängigkeit von drei dimensionslosen Kenngrößen darstellen läßt. Diese charakterisieren das dynamische Fließverhalten des Films bzw. entsprechen einer modifizierten Prandtl-Zahl und dem Exponenten des Potenzgesetzes, welches die Abhängigkeit der Scherdeformation der Flüssigkeit von der Schubspannung wiedergibt.  相似文献

We present a comparative investigation of two opposite classes of self-assembled fibrillar networks. Ribbons and tubes having cross-sectional dimensions in the nanoscale can be formed in aqueous solutions of steroids derived, respectively, from deoxycholic (DC) and lithocholic (LC) acids. Rheological features distinguish energetic networks of DC ribbons rigidly fixed in cylindrical bundles and entropic transient networks of LC tubes weakly interacting in shear-sensitive suspensions. The two classes are characterized by their frequency sweep profiles, viscoelastic linear domains, scaling laws of the elastic shear modulus vs concentration, kinetics of formation of the networks, and their optical birefringence aspects. A theoretical context for networks of rigid fibers is used to account for the scaling exponents α in the G’ (and σ*) ∝C α laws (α=2.0 and 1.0, respectively, for DC and LC). The evolution observed in DC gels from ribbons to cylindrical fibers with monodisperse sections made up with four ribbons is an indication of an equilibrated balance between face-to-face attractions and untwisting elastic processes of the constitutive ribbons.Paper presented at the Annual Meeting of the European Society of Rheology, Grenoble, April 2005  相似文献

The recently developed pushover analysis procedure has led a new dimension to performance-based design in structural engineering practices. With the increase in the magnitude of monotonic loading, weak links and failure modes in the multi-storey RC frames are usually formed. The force distribution and storey displacements are evaluated using static pushover analysis based on the assumption that the response is controlled by fundamental mode and no mode shift takes place. Himalayan-Nagalushai region, Indo-Gangetic plain, Western India, Kutch and Kathiawar regions are geologically unstable parts of India and some devastating earthquakes of remarkable intensity have occurred here. In view of the intensive construction activity in India, where even a medium intensity tremor can cause a calamity, the authors feel that a completely up-to-date, versatile method of aseismic analysis and design of structures are essential. A detailed dynamic analysis of a 10-storey RC frame building is therefore performed using response spectrum method based on Indian Standard Codal Provisions and base shear, storey shear and storey drifts are computed. A modal pushover analysis (MPA) is also carried out to determine the structural response of the same model for the same acceleration spectra used in the earlier case. The major focus of study is to bring out the superiority of pushover analysis method over the conventional dynamic analysis method recommended by the code. The results obtained from the numerical studies show that the response spectrum method underestimates the response of the model in comparison with modal pushover analysis. It is also seen that modal participation of higher modes contributes to better results of the response distribution along the height of the building. Also pushover curves are plotted to illustrate the displacement as a function of base shear.  相似文献

A new approach on MHD natural convection boundary layer flow from a finite flat plate of arbitrary inclination in a rotating environment, is presented. This problem plays a significant role on boundary layer flow control. It is shown that taking into account the pressure rise region at the leading edge of the plate leads to avoid separation and the back flow is reduced by the strong magnetic field. It is also shown that the frictional drag at the leading edge of the plate is reduced when the inclination angle α=π/4. In the case of isothermal flat plate, the bulk temperature becomes identical for any value of Gr (Grashof number) when the value of M 2 (Hartmann number) and K 2 (rotation parameter) are kept fixed.  相似文献

Interference fits are used extensively in aircraft structural joints because of their improved fatigue performance. Recent advances in analysis of these joints have increased understanding of the nonlinear load-contact and load-interfacial slip variations in these joints. Experimental work in these problems is lacking due to difficulties in determining partial contact and partial slip along the pin-hole interface. In this paper, an experimental procedure is enumerated for determining load-contact relations in interference/clearance fits, using photoelastic models and applying a technique for detecting progress of separation/contact up to predetermined locations. The study incorporates a detailed procedure for model making, controlling interference, locating break of contact up to known locations around the interface, estimating optically the degree of interference, determining interfacial friction and evaluating stresses in the sheet. Experiments, simulating joints in large sheets, were carried out under both pin and plate loads. The present studies provide load-separation behavior in interference joint with finite interfacial friction.  相似文献

The growth equation for weak discontinuities headed by wave fronts of arbitrary shape in a relaxing gas flow is derived along the orthogonal trajectories of the wave fronts. An explicit criteria for the growth and decay of weak discontinuities along their orthogonal trajectories is given. It is concluded that the internal relaxation processes in the flow as well as the wave front curvature both have a stabilizing effect on the tendency of the wave surface to grow into a shock in the sense that they cause the shock formation time to increase.  相似文献

The motion of single Argon bubbles rising in the eutectic alloy GaInSn under the influence of a DC longitudinal magnetic field (parallel to the direction of bubble motion) was examined. The magnetic field strength was varied up to 0.3 T corresponding to a magnetic interaction parameter N (which measures the ratio of electromagnetic forces to inertial forces) slightly greater than 1. The liquid metal was at rest in a cylindrical container. Bubble and liquid velocities were measured using ultrasound Doppler velocimetry (UDV). The measured bubble terminal velocity showed oscillations indicating a zigzag movement of ellipsoidal bubbles. For small bubbles (de  4.6 mm) an increase of the drag coefficient with increasing magnetic interaction parameter N was observed, whereas for larger bubbles (de  5.4 mm) the application of the magnetic field reduces the drag coefficient. The measurements revealed a distinct electromagnetic damping of the bubble induced liquid velocity leading to more rectilinear bubble trajectories when the magnetic field is applied. Moreover, significant modifications of the bubble wake structure were observed. Raising of the magnetic field strength caused an enlargement of the eddies in the wake. The Strouhal number decreases with increasing magnetic interaction parameter N.  相似文献

An analysis is made of the steady two-dimensional stagnation-point flow of an incompressible viscoelastic fluid over a flat deformable surface when the surface is stretched in its own plane with a velocity proportional to the distance from the stagnation-point. It is shown that for a viscoelastic fluid of short memory (obeying Walters’ B′ model), a boundary layer is formed when the stretching velocity of the surface is less than the inviscid free-stream velocity and velocity at a point increases with increase in the elasticity of the fluid. On the other hand, an inverted boundary layer is formed when the surface stretching velocity exceeds the velocity of the free stream and the velocity decreases with increase in the elasticity of the fluid. A novel result of the analysis is that the flow near the stretching surface is that corresponding to an inviscid stagnation-point flow when the surface stretching velocity is equal to the velocity of the free stream. Temperature distribution in the boundary layer is found when the surface is held at constant temperature and surface heat flux is determined. It is found that temperature at a point decreases with increase in the elasticity of the fluid.  相似文献

Experimental investigation has been carried out on a counter flow three-phase fluidized bed cooling tower (FBCT) with different static bed heights. The efficient static bd height for the present tower is found to be between 11 cm and 13 cm. The pressure drop observed is in the order of 0.6 mm of water column per cm of static bed height within the range of parameters investigated.

Zusammenfassung An einem Fließbett-Kühlturm unterschiedlicher Statischer Betthöhen, der von einem in drei Phasen vorliegenden Fluid im Gegenstrom beaufschlagt wird, wurde eine experimentelle Untersuchung durchgeführt. Die wirksamen statischen Betthöhen ergaben sich bei diesem Turm zu 11 und 13 cm, der gemessene Druckverlust lag bei etwa 0,6 mm Wassersäule je Zentimeter statischer Betthöhe und zwar im gesamten Variationsbereich der Versuchsparameter.

An experimental investigation is made to study the flow characteristics of slot jet impingement on a cylinder. The velocity profiles and pressure distribution around the cylinder are reported for various parameters namely, the flow rate, width of the nozzle, distance of the cylinder from the jet exit and eccentricity of the cylinder to the jet axis.

Zusammenfassung Es wurde eine experimentelle Untersuchung gemacht, um die Strömungseigenschaften eines Düsenstrahls zu unterschen, der auf einen Zylinder prallt. Die Geschwindigkeitsprofile und die Druckverteilungen an dem Zylinder wurden für unterschiedliche Parameter dokumentiert. Die Parameter sind die Strömungsgeschwindigkeit, Düsengröße, Abstand zwischen Zylinder und Strahlaustritt und die Exzentrizität von Zylinder und Strahlachse.
