We study the single production of fourth-family quarks through the process pp→Q′jX at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). We have calculated the decay widths and branching ratios of the fourth-family quarks

Carlo framework. It is shown that the LHC can discover single t′ and b′ quarks if the CKM matrix elements |V

The intersubband absorption in square and graded quantum wells under a laser field is calculated within the framework of the effective mass approximation. We conclude that, for quantum wells with different shapes, the laser field amplitude induces an important effect on the electronic and optical properties of the semiconductor structure. Among the group-III nitrides, InN displays markedly unusual electronic transport characteristics due to its smaller effective mass, high peak velocity and high background electron concentration. First, a non-local empirical pseudopotential band structure of InN is obtained in the light of recent experimental and first-principles results. This is utilized within an ensemble Monte Carlo framework to illuminate the interesting transport properties. It is observed that InN has a peak velocity which is about 75% higher than that of GaN while at higher fields its saturation velocity is lower than that of GaN. Because of the strongly degenerate regime brought about by the high background electron concentration, the electron–electron interaction is also investigated, but its effect on the steady-state and transient velocity–field characteristics is shown to be negligible. Finally, hot phonon generation due to excessive polar optical phonon production in the electron scattering and relaxation processes is accounted for. The main findings are the appreciable reduction in the saturation drift velocity and the slower recovery from the velocity overshoot regime. The time evolution of the hot phonon distribution is analysed in detail and it is observed to be extremely anisotropic, predominantly along the electric force direction. 相似文献

Temperature dependent measurements of the in-plane photovoltage (IPV) arising from Fermi level fluctuations constitute a powerful tool for determining surface and bulk states and trap activation energies in nominally undoped semiconductors. In this work we report the first IPV measurements on high quality InN grown using the MBE technique. The temperature dependent IPV results coupled with Hall mobility and carrier density measurements provide ample evidence for the existence of a high density of states within the range 54 to 68 meV below the conduction band. Temperature dependent PL measurements indicate a band gap of 0.77 eV where a very weak temperature dependence is observed between 77 and 300 K. These results are shown to be in accord with the IPV measurements. 相似文献

The one-speed time-dependent and stationary neutron transport equation in spherical geometry with forward scattering is considered. A formal equivalence between the transport equations for a critical and for a decaying system is established. By considering the pseudo-slab problem the scaled transport equation is solved using the FN method. Numerical values of radii for a critical and time-dependent systems are tabulated as a function of the scattering parameters and the fundamental decay constant. Some of the results are discussed and compared with others obtained using various methods. The results agree for four or five significant figures with the published results. It is shown that the FN method yields good numerical results for the problem considered. Finally, a few remarks about the effect of the forward anisotropy on the radius is also given. 相似文献

In this correspondence, micro-genetic algorithm (MGA) application results for optimizing the performance of electronic feedback of a laser diode are presented. The goal of optimization is to find the maximum bandwidth of the laser diode with electronic feedback used in fiber optic digital communication. A numerical analysis of the system theory of the single-mode laser diode to obtain numerical results of the gain, the pulse response, and the harmonic distortion for electronic feedback is also presented. The dependence of the system gain on the feedback gain and delay is examined. The pulse response is studied and it is shown that a transmission rate over 1 Gbyte/s can be achieved. 相似文献

The conditions for cloud point extraction of lead(II) from aqueous solutions were investigated and optimized. The procedure
is based on the separation of Pb(II) – brillant cresyl blue (BCB) complexes into the micellar media by adding the surfactant
Triton X-114. After phase separation, the surfactant-rich phase was dissolved with 1 mol L−1 HNO3 in ethanol and diluted with 1 mol L−1 HNO3 solution before lead was determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Optimization of the pH, ligand and surfactant
quantities, incubation time, temperature, viscosity, sample volume, and interfering ions was performed. The effects of the
matrix ions were also examined. The detection limits for three times the standard deviations of the blank for lead were 7.5 μg L−1 for water samples and 0.33 μg g−1 for sediment samples. The validity of cloud point extraction was checked by employing certified reference samples of Lake
Sediment IAEA-SL-1 and Sewage Sludge BCR-CRM 144R. The procedure was applied to natural waters and sediment samples with satisfactory
