Characterization,slab-pair modeling and phase analysis of circular fishnet metamaterials

Planar metamaterials, which have incident to normal plane excitation unlike SRR-type structures and that are easily fabricated in multilayer form, have received great interest in recent years. In this paper, one-dimensional and polarization independent circular fishnet metamaterials and their equivalent discontinuous slab-pair modeling for tuning resonance frequencies are introduced. After the numerical and experimental demonstration of the inclusions, the standard retrieval characterization methods and the correspondent/related backward-wave propagation observation are realized in order to check the physical explanation mentioned in the paper. In addition, a detailed phase analysis is performed in order to demonstrate the application of the suggested structure as a phase compensator.     

Some relations between certain inequalities concerning analytic and univalent functions

By making use of the well-known assertions in [S.S. Miller, P.T. Mocanu, Differential Subordinations, Theory and Applications, Marcel Dekker, New York-Basel, 2000] and [M. Nunokawa, On the order of strongly starlikeness of strongly convex functions, Proc. Japan Acad. Ser. A Math. Sci. 69 (7) (1993) 234–237], several useful results of certain inequalities dealing with analytic and univalent functions are obtained and then certain consequences of them are also indicated.     

Between *-closed sets and ℐ-<Emphasis Type="Italic">g</Emphasis>-closed sets in ideal topological spaces

Dontchev et al. [4] introduced the notion of ℐ-g-closed sets. In [16], the further properties of ℐ-g-closed sets are investigated. In this paper, we introduce the notion of ℐ-mg-closed sets and obtain the unified characterizations for certain families of subsets between *-closed sets and ℐ-g-closed sets in an ideal topological space.     

On some generalized sequence spaces of fuzzy numbers defined by a sequence of Orlicz functions

The purpose of the paper is to introduce the concepts of almost λ-statistical convergence and strongly almost λ-convergence of sequences of fuzzy numbers. We establish some connections between these concepts. It is also shown that if a sequence of fuzzy numbers is strongly almost λ-convergent with respect to a sequence of Orlicz funtions then it is almost λ-statistical convergent.     

The τ→μν<Subscript>i</Subscript>̄ν<Subscript>i</Subscript> decay in the Randall–Sundrum background with localized U(1)<Subscript>Y</Subscript> gauge boson

We study the effects of localization of the U(1)_Y gauge boson around the visible brane and the contributions of the Kaluza–Klein modes of Z bosons on the branching ratio of the lepton flavor violating τ→μν_īν_i decay. We observe that the branching ratio is sensitive to the amount of localization of the Z boson in the bulk of the Randall–Sundrum background.     

The effects of lepton KK modes on the electric dipole moments of the leptons in the Randall–Sundrum scenario

We study the charged lepton electric dipole moments in the Randall–Sundrum model where the leptons and the gauge fields are accessible to the extra dimension. We observe that the electric dipole moment of the electron (muon; tau) reaches a value of the order of 10^-26 e cm (10^-20 e cm; 10^-20 e cm) with the inclusion of the lepton KK modes.     

Managing manufacturing risks by using capacity options

In this study, we investigate the strategy of increasing production capacity temporarily through contingent contractual agreements with short-cycle manufacturers to manage the risks associated with demand volatility. We view all these agreements as capacity options. More specifically, we consider a manufacturing company that produces a replenishment product that is sold at a retailer. The demand for the product switches randomly between a high level and a low level. The production system has enough capacity to meet the demand in the long run. However, when the demand is high, it does not have enough capacity to meet the instantaneous demand and thus has to produce to stock in advance. Alternatively, a contractual agreement with a short-cycle manufacturer can be made. This option gives the right to receive additional production capacity when needed. There is a fixed cost to purchase this option for a period of time and, if the option is exercised, there is an additional per unit exercise price which corresponds to the cost of the goods produced at the short-cycle manufacturer. We formulate the problem as a stochastic optimal control problem and analyse it analytically. By comparing the costs between two cases where the contract with the short-cycle manufacturer is used or not, the value of this option is evaluated. Furthermore, the effect of demand variability on this contract is investigated.     

Approximation by modified Szasz—Mirakjan operators on weighted spaces

The theorems on weighted approximation and the order of approximation of continuous functions by modified Szasz—Mirakjan operators on all positive semi-axis are established.     

Augmented Lagrangian Duality and Nondifferentiable Optimization Methods in Nonconvex Programming

In this paper we present augmented Lagrangians for nonconvex minimization problems with equality constraints. We construct a dual problem with respect to the presented here Lagrangian, give the saddle point optimality conditions and obtain strong duality results. We use these results and modify the subgradient and cutting plane methods for solving the dual problem constructed. Algorithms proposed in this paper have some advantages. We do not use any convexity and differentiability conditions, and show that the dual problem is always concave regardless of properties the primal problem satisfies. The subgradient of the dual function along which its value increases is calculated without solving any additional problem. In contrast with the penalty or multiplier methods, for improving the value of the dual function, one need not to take the penalty like parameter to infinity in the new methods. In both methods the value of the dual function strongly increases at each iteration. In the contrast, by using the primal-dual gap, the proposed algorithms possess a natural stopping criteria. The convergence theorem for the subgradient method is also presented.
