We present a preliminary first-pass dynamic model for delivery of drug compounds to the lungs and heart. We use a compartmental mass-balance approach to develop a system of nonlinear differential equations for mass accumulated in the heart as a result of intravenous injection. A spatially and temporally local analysis is provided for unsteady, oblique shock waves, in which the flow is assumed to
be two-dimensional or axisymmetric. Three unsteady parameters, in a laboratory frame, are viewed as the known independent
variables. These are the upstream Mach number, the shock Mach number, and the angle of the shock relative to the instantaneous
upstream velocity. Other steady and unsteady parameters, such as the velocity turn angles and downstream Mach numbers, are
evaluated in closed form, in terms of these three quantities. Trends are assessed, and a sensitivity analysis is provided.
It is suggested that the theory may find application in converting a shock capturing algorithm, at an early time during the
computational process, into a shock fitting algorithm.

Sensitivity analysis results for variational inequalities are presented which give conditions for existence and equations for calculating the derivatives of solution variables with respect to perturbation parameters. The perturbations are of both the variational inequality function and the feasible region. Results for the special case of nonlinear complementarity are also presented. Sensitivity analysis is a mathematical tool, first developed for optimization methods, which aim is to characterize a system response through the variations of its output parameters following modifications imposed on the input parameters of the system. Such an analysis may quickly become laborious when the thermal model under consideration is complex or the number of input parameters is high. In this paper, we develop a mathematical model to analyse the heat exchanges in four different types of solar air collectors. When building this thermal model we show that for each collector, at quasi-steady state, the energy balance equations of the components of the collector cascade into a single first-order non-linear differential equation that is able to predict the thermal behaviour of the collector. Our heat transfer model clearly demonstrates the existence of an important dimensionless parameter, referred to as the thermal performance factor of the collector, that compares the useful thermal energy which can be extracted from the heater to the overall thermal losses of that collector for a given set of input parameters. A sensitivity analysis of our thermal model has been performed for the most significant input parameters such as the incident solar irradiation, the inlet fluid temperature, the air mass flow rate, the depth of the fluid channel, the number and nature of the transparent covers in order to measure the impact of each of these parameters on our model. An important result which can be drawn from this study is that the heat transfer model developed is robust enough to be used for thermal design studies of most known flat plate solar air heaters, but also of flat plate solar water collectors and linear solar concentrators. 相似文献

Crosslinked hyaluronan gels are used in various applications where their stability is a prerequisite. The sensitivity of such gels to hyaluronidase can be determined as an index of stability by several approaches: chromatography, electrophoresis, and viscometry. We describe here a test based on the colorimetric determination of the N-acetyl-d-glucosamine released by hyaluronidase in standardized conditions. The sensitivities to bovine testicular hyaluronidase of 11 different gels used to fill skin wrinkles (Restylane; Perlane; Juvéderm 18, 24, 24HV, 30, and 30HV; Surgiderm 18, 24XP, 30, and 30XP) were compared.The method was reproducible, easy to perform, not time-consuming and allowed us to demonstrate that the sensitivity to testicular hyaluronidase was dependent on the degree of crosslinking of the gels and also on their monophasic/biphasic nature. Under our conditions, Surgiderm 30, 24XP and 30XP were the most resistant gels.We propose to retain the hyaluronidase test to predict the in situ stability of a crosslinked gel used to fill skin wrinkles. 相似文献

We present some results about Lipschitzian behavior of solutions to variational conditions when the sets over which the conditions
are posed, as well as the functions appearing in them, may vary. These results rely on calmness and inner semicontinuity,
and we describe some conditions under which those conditions hold, especially when the sets involved in the variational conditions
are convex and polyhedral. We then apply the results to find error bounds for solutions of a strongly monotone variational
inequality in which both the constraining polyhedral multifunction and the monotone operator are perturbed.

Analysis of uncertainty is often neglected in the evaluation of complex systems models, such as computational models used in hydrology or ecology. Prediction uncertainty arises from a variety of sources, such as input error, calibration accuracy, parameter sensitivity and parameter uncertainty. In this study, various computational approaches were investigated for analysing the impact of parameter uncertainty on predictions of streamflow for a water-balance hydrological model used in eastern Australia. The parameters and associated equations which had greatest impact on model output were determined by combining differential error analysis and Monte Carlo simulation with stochastic and deterministic sensitivity analysis. This integrated approach aids in the identification of insignificant or redundant parameters and provides support for further simplifications in the mathematical structure underlying the model. Parameter uncertainty was represented by a probability distribution and simulation experiments revealed that the shape (skewness) of the distribution had a significant effect on model output uncertainty. More specifically, increasing negative skewness of the parameter distribution correlated with decreasing width of the model output confidence interval (i.e. resulting in less uncertainty). For skewed distributions, characterisation of uncertainty is more accurate using the confidence interval from the cumulative distribution rather than using variance. The analytic approach also identified the key parameters and the non-linear flux equation most influential in affecting model output uncertainty. 相似文献
