Several explicit Taylor-Galerkin-based time integration schemes are proposed for the solution of both linear and non-linear convection problems with divergence-free velocity. These schemes are based on second-order Taylor series of the time derivative. The spatial discretization is performed by a high-order Galerkin spectral element method. For convection-diffusion problems an operator-splitting technique is given that decouples the treatment of the convective and diffusive terms. Both problems are then solved using a suitable time scheme. The Taylor-Galerkin methods and the operator-splitting scheme are tested numerically for both convection and convection-diffusion problems.  相似文献

In this article, the convection dominated convection-diffusion problems with the periodic micro-structure are discussed. A two-scale finite element scheme based on the homogenization technique for this kind of problems is provided. The error estimates between the exact solution and the approximation solution, of the homogenized equation or the two-scale finite element scheme are analyzed. It is shown that the scheme provided in this article is convergent for any fixed diffusion coefficient 5, and it may be convergent independent of δ under some conditions. The numerical results demonstrating the theoretical results are presented in this article.  相似文献

Two kinds of parallel preconditioners for the solution of large sparse linear systems which arise from the 2-D 5-point finite difference discretization of a convection-diffusion equation are introduced. The preconditioners are based on the SSOR or MILU preconditioners and can be implemented on parallel computers with distributed memories. One is the block preconditioner, in which the interface components of the coefficient matrix between blocks are ignored to attain parallelism in the forward-backward substitutions. The other is the modified block preconditioner, in which the block preconditioner is modified by taking the interface components into account. The effect of these preconditioners on the convergence of preconditioned iterative methods and timing results on the parallel computer (Cenju) are presented.  相似文献

A finite difference method for a time-dependent convection-diffusion problem in one space dimension is constructed using a Shishkin mesh. In two recent papers (Clavero et al. (2005) [2] and Mukherjee and Natesan (2009) [3]), this method has been shown to be convergent, uniformly in the small diffusion parameter, using somewhat elaborate analytical techniques and under a certain mesh restriction. In the present paper, a much simpler argument is used to prove a higher order of convergence (uniformly in the diffusion parameter) than in [2] and [3] and under a slightly less restrictive condition on the mesh.  相似文献

The channel flow cell has been shown to be a powerful tool with which to study analytical, mechanistic and kinetic processes. In this article we describe a numerical strategy which provides an efficient and flexible alternative to previous computational techniques for simulating channel electrode problems. It is demonstrated that the finite element method can accurately simulate the transient currents measured in hydrodynamic systems under mass transport control, at both macro- and micro-electrodes. Results are compared to analytical theory where available, and to previously established methods of simulation.  相似文献

The efficiencies of the diffusion deposition of nanoaerosols for a single fiber for the models of aerosol filter and wire mesh screen are studied numerically in the extended range of the Peclet number Pe. The rectangular periodic cell model for fluid flow and convective-diffusive transport of small aerosol particles is used. Most of the previous theoretical and experimental studies of single fiber diffusion deposition efficiency were for the case of Pe > 1. The array with uniform square or chess grid of fibers and of a row of circular cylindrical fibers are considered as the filter and wire mesh screen models. The flow and particles transport equations are solved numerically using the Boundary Element Method.The obtained numerical data are used to derive the approximate formulas for the deposition efficiency in the entire range of the Peclet number for the various porosities of the filter medium or distances between fibers in a wire mesh screen. The derived dependencies take into account nonlinearity of the deposition efficiency at the low Peclet numbers. The obtained analytical dependencies compare well with the numerical and experimental data.  相似文献
