Quantum manipulation of macroscopic mechanical systems is of great interest in both fundamental physics and ap- plications ranging from high-precision metrology to quantum information processing. For these purposes, a crucial step is to cool the mechanical system to its quantum ground state. In this review, we focus on the cavity optomechanical cooling, which exploits the cavity enhanced interaction between optical field and mechanical motion to reduce the thermal noise. Recent remarkable theoretical and experimental efforts in this field have taken a major step forward in preparing the mo- tional quantum ground state of mesoscopic mechanical systems. This review first describes the quantum theory of cavity optomechanical cooling, including quantum noise approach and covariance approach; then, the up-to-date experimental progresses are introduced. Finally, new cooling approaches are discussed along the directions of cooling in the strong coupling regime and cooling beyond the resolved sideband limit. 相似文献

Based on the autocloning technique the photonic crystals were fabricated using E-beam gun evaporation with ion-assisted deposition
(IAD) on the periodic corrugation patterns of substrates. In this research, the surface evolution function based on the unified
process model was simulated to analyze the influence of the etching and redeposition effects of the different etching time.
As the etching time was longer, the top roof angle was larger and the redeposition thickness was getting thicker. The difference
of the top roof angle in the experiment and the simulated result are less than 4°. It shows the simulation method achieved
very good agreement with the fabricated result for different etching times from 40 to 120 min. We found the surface angular

A low cost and simple configuration of multifunctional MCA based on a personal computer is described. It can be used as a spectrum multiscaling analyzer, multi-input pulse height analyzer and dual parameter MCA. It can also be used in a master-slave ADC configuration in order to cut down the dead time of the system. All the functions can be performed by loading the corresponding programs without altering the hardware configuration. Interrupt service routines are used to handle the digital data converted by ADC. The effect of steaming on HZSM 5 has been characterized by using two model reactions: n-heptane cracking and m-xylene isomerization. For both reactions, the activity of HZSM 5 was increased by steaming at low water vapor pressure, but at a high pressure it became lower than that of the non-steamed sample. Modifications in the acidity and a slight blockage of the pores by extralattice aluminium can explain this behavior.
