Conversion of ketoximes to ketones with trimethylphosphine and 2,2′-dipyridyl diselenide

Use of trimethylphosphine (Me₃P) and 2,2′-dipyridyl diselenide (PySeSePy) is an excellent method for the conversion of ketoximes to the corresponding ketones, since yields higher than 90% are obtained at rt within a few minutes (or hours for the more reluctant substrates, which do not react with Bu₃P/PhSSPh). In the simplest cases, the reaction can be completed with 30 mol % of PySeSePy, provided that an excess of phosphine is present in the reaction medium.

Medicinal Organometallic Chemistry: Designing Metal Arene Complexes as Anticancer Agents

The field of medicinal inorganic chemistry is rapidly advancing. In particular organometallic complexes have much potential as therapeutic and diagnostic agents. The carbon‐bound and other ligands allow the thermodynamic and kinetic reactivity of the metal ion to be controlled and also provide a scaffold for functionalization. The establishment of structure–activity relationships and elucidation of the speciation of complexes under conditions relevant to drug testing and formulation are crucial for the further development of promising medicinal applications of organometallic complexes. Specific examples involving the design of ruthenium and osmium arene complexes as anticancer agents are discussed.     

Effect of External Acidity of Mordenite-Supported Catalysts on the 2,2-Dimethylbutane Content in Hydroisomerization Products of n-Hexane

We have used potentiometric titration with tetrabutylammonium hydroxide to determine the acid center content on the outer surface of dealuminated natural and synthetic mordenites. We have established a symbatic relationship between the 2,2-dimethylbutane content in the hydroisomerization products of n-hexane on dealuminated palladium-containing mordenites and the number of their external acid centers. We have studied the possibility of partial deactivation of such centers during ion-exchange deposition of palladium on the catalysts, using a tetraammine palladium solution.

An amylopectin tris(phenylcarbamate) chiral stationary phase for high performance liquid chromatography

Amylopectin tris(phenylcarbamate) has been evaluated as a chiral stationary phase for HPLC; the influence on its cptical resolving capabilities of mobile phase composition and nature of the alcohol used as modifier has been studied. Separation and resolution of twelve arylalcohol racemates were examined. In most instances, the stationary phase exhibited high optical resolving capacity.
