We report on angle-resolved photoemission studies of the electronic pi states of high-quality epitaxial graphene layers on a Ni(111) surface. In this system the electron binding energy of the pi states shows a strong dependence on the magnetization reversal of the Ni film. The observed extraordinarily large energy shift up to 225 meV of the graphene-derived pi band peak position for opposite magnetization directions is attributed to a manifestation of the Rashba interaction between spin-polarized electrons in the pi band and the large effective electric field at the graphene/Ni interface. Our findings show that an electron spin in the graphene layer can be manipulated in a controlled way and have important implications for graphene-based spintronic devices.  相似文献

The most complete nonrelativistic theory of dynamic fluctuation electromagnetic interactions between particles of various types (charges, dipoles, neutral atoms, nanoparticles) and the surfaces (flat or cylindrical) of a polarizable medium (the boundary of a solid) is reported for the first time. The theory is based on the application of the Maxwell equations and the formalism of fluctuation-dissipation relations. For a flat surface, effects of spatial dispersion are also taken into account. Papers of other authors are analyzed critically. The results of recent investigations in which dissipative fluctuational forces could be observed are considered briefly.  相似文献

The tautomeric equilibrium of phenylazonaphthols was investigated by the HMO method and by IR spectroscopy. It was found that in the case of 4-phenylazo-1-naphthol the thermodynamic stability of the tautomers was approximately the same, in the case of 1-phenylazo-2-naphthol the naphthoquinone hydrazone tautomer was substantially more stable.  相似文献

Radiative heat exchange of a stationary spherical particle with a plate has been investigated in terms of fluctuation electrodynamics. The cases of metal and insulator materials (gold and silicon dioxide) of particles and plates have been numerically analyzed. Several theoretical models of thermal conductance have been compared and the results have been juxtaposed with the available experimental data.  相似文献

A procedure is proposed to calculate the shape of the characteristic X-ray emission bands of metals with allowance for multielectron effects. The effects of the dynamic screening of a core vacancy by conduction electrons and the Auger effect in the valence band are taken into account. The dynamic screening of a core vacancy, which is known to be called the MND (Mahan-Nozeieres-De Dominics) effect, is taken into account by an ab initio band calculation of crystals using the PAW (projected augmented waves) method. The Auger effect is taken into account by a semiempirical method using the approximation of a quadratic dependence of the level width in the valence band on the difference between the level energy and the Fermi energy. The proposed calculation procedure is used to describe the X-ray emission K and L 2,3 bands of metallic magnesium and aluminum crystals. The calculated spectra agree well with the experimental bands both near the Fermi level and in the low-energy part of the spectra in all cases.  相似文献

The dynamical Casimir-Polder force between a neutral atom (in the ground state) and a thick plate in relativistic motion of the atom in the direction parallel to the surface has been calculated. The material properties have been considered in the framework of the oscillator model of the atom and the Drude dielectric function for a plate. The limiting cases of the nonrelativistic velocity and perfectly conducting material of the plate have been discussed. A complex dependence of the force on the velocity (energy), the distance, and the material properties of the surface has been found.  相似文献

The heating rate and conservative—dissipative forces in a system of two parallel plates moving at a nonrelativistic velocity with respect to each other have been calculated in terms of the fluctuation electromagnetic electrodynamics for the first time. It has been demonstrated that the recently proposed relativistic theory of fluctuation electromagnetic interactions in the configuration under consideration offers fundamental disadvantages.  相似文献
