A mechanism of triggering the 12.7keV E3 transition, based on the new decay mode of the 31y isomer via resonance internal conversion and emission of a 1.4keV X-ray quantum, is considered. Actually, this decay mode was observed previously in the decay of 45- and 46-fold ions of 125Te . For the purpose of triggering, the atomic radiative vertex has to be induced by resonance radiation. This mechanism makes triggering by an order of magnitude more efficient than triggering a bare nucleus, and is achieved at a lower combination frequency. An experiment is proposed for the direct observation of the new decay mode. This also offers a new way of resonance scattering of these X-rays. Triggering through higher-lying 2573 and 2805keV states is also considered. The results are extended to the general problem of triggering. The main obstacle for enhancing the efficiency is a high internal conversion rate. For this reason, shape isomers with low multipole order --E1 , M1 , and with a high enough energy of triggering transition are of interest for triggering. The partial ionization of the outer electrons will also help. The same recommendations hold for triggering isomers in laser-produced plasma.  相似文献

Relativistic calculations of differential cross sections for photoionization are performed and the behavior of parameters β, γ, and δ describing the angular distribution of photoelectrons in the quadrupole approximation is studied. The calculations were carried out for a number of atoms for kinetic energies of photoelectrons E k ≈50 000 eV. The electronic wave functions of the initial and final states are calculated by the Dirac-Fock method taking into account the exchange interaction and a hole produced in the atomic shell upon photoionization. The dependence of parameters β, γ, and δ on the physical assumptions used in the calculations is studied. Comparison with nonrelativistic calculations shows that relativistic values of the nondipole parameters γ and δ can be substantially different even at low energies of photoelectrons. Our calculations of nondipole parameters γ and δ for the 2p-shell of the Kr atom better agree with the recent experimental data than nonrelativistic calculations performed earlier taking approximately into account the exchange interaction and neglecting a hole.  相似文献

Various phenomena such as hyperfine shift of 209Bi82+, nuclear decay of 229Th, and 169Yb69+ are considered as cross-invariant channels of the internal conversion process from the viewpoint of testing QED. The way of accelerating nuclear decay in a laser field through merging nuclear and laser photons is discussed. Discovering this fundamental process would give a convincing test of both QED along with our experimental capabilities.  相似文献

Relativistic calculations of the angular distribution of photoelectrons upon photoionization of 2p and 3d shells in the range of photoelectron energies from 1 to 10 keV are carried out for unpolarized and linearly polarized radiation. An exact expression for the angular distribution of photoelectrons that takes into account nondipolar terms of the order of O[(kr)2] (k is the photon energy and r is the radius of the ionized shell) is obtained in the case of unpolarized radiation. It is shown that the contribution of the O[(kr)2] terms to the differential cross section can be considerable, reaching 24% at the maximum energy considered. Accounting for such terms in the calculation of the ratio of differential cross sections, which is experimentally measured at a certain geometry of angles in the case of linearly polarized radiation, can change this ratio twofold. The parameters of the angular distribution, which are necessary for the conduction of a quantitative x-ray photoelectron analysis, are given for the 2p 1/2 and 2p 3/2 shells of elements with 11≤Z≤29 and for the 3d 3/2 and 3d 5/2 shells of elements with 30≤Z≤54.  相似文献

A new method for studying nucleus excitation by means of reverse conversion is proposed. This method can be applied on the storage rings of accelerators and is based on data accumulated in studies of dielectronic recombination. A cascade of 2–3 conversion transitions produces a unique facsimile of the process. Reverse conversion cross sections are calculated for beams of few-electron 161Dy ions (e.g., H-, He-, Li-, and Be-like).  相似文献

A numerical analysis of the specific-difference (SD) method for eliminating the Bohr–Weisskopf effect in the theory of hyperfine splitting is performed within a more general theory of anomalous nuclear moments. The limiting accuracy of the SD method is demonstrated. In analyzing experimental data on the hyperfine splitting in H- and Li-like ions of 209Bi, it is found that the disagreement between theoretical and experimental results that was reported recently was due to going beyond this theoretical accuracy. Prospects of further experimental and theoretical studies in these realms are discussed.  相似文献
