Concentrations of Active Species in the Flowing Afterglow of a Nitrogen Microwave Plasma

Measurements of nitrogen atom density, by means of NO chemical titration, along with an evaluation of the densities of some excited species N ₂ (B, v=11), N ₂ (B, v=2), N ₂ (C, v=0), and N ₂ ⁺ (B,v=0), by means of a spectroscopic study of some bands of dinitrogen, are achieved along the flowing afterglow of a dinitrogen microwave plasma (2450 MHz) for several pressures. The concentrations obtained are in the following range: [N]10 ⁺¹⁵ , [N ₂ (B, 2)]10 ⁺⁹ –10 ⁺¹⁰ , [N ₂ (B, 11)]10 ⁺⁸ –10 ⁺⁹ , [N ₂ (C, 0)]10 ⁺⁶ –10 ⁺⁷ , [N ₂ ⁺ (B,0)]10 ⁺⁶ -10 ⁺⁸ (cm^-3). From a kinetic study of the formation and decay of excited and charged species, an estimation of N ₂ (A, v), N ₂ (X, v, and N ₂ ⁺ (X) densities can be derived: [N ₂ (A, v)]10 ⁺¹² , [N ₂ (X, v6)]10 ⁺¹⁵ –10 ⁺¹⁶ , [N ₂ (X, v12)]10 ⁺¹⁴ –10 ⁺¹⁵ , [N ₂ ⁺ (X)]10 ⁺¹⁰ (cm ^-3 ).     

Single-Molecule single crystals of isotactic polystyrene

Single-molecule single crystals were grown from amorphous droplets of fractionated isotactic polystyrene. The crystals were analyzed by electron microscopy and electron diffraction. The molecular mass distribution could be matched with a statistical analysis of single-molecule particles (amorphous and crystals). Proof was brought that single molecules of isotactic polystyrene do not reach equilibrium dimensions on crystallization, rather assume the lamellar morphology with chain-folded macroconformation, also known from crystallization of polymolecular crystals. © 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.

Solvothermal Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Electrochemical Property of Complex [Co(p-MBA)2(2,2''-bipy)(H2O)]·(H2O)

One novel complex [Co(p-MBA)2(2,2'-bipy)(H2O)]·(H2O) has been synthesized by the reaction of p-methylbenzoic acid with 2,2'-bipyridine in the solvent mixture of water and methanol. It crystallizes in triclinic, space group P-1 with a=0.70479(14), b=1.1211(2), c=1.6718(3) nm, α=103.806(3), β=90.795(3), γ=104.207(3)°, V=1.2399(4) nm3, Mr=512.41, Dc=1.373 g/cm3, Z=2, F(000)=532, μ=0.733 mm-1, R=0.0432 and wR=0.0957. The crystal structural analysis shows that the cobalt atom is coordinated with three oxygen atoms from two p-methylbenzoic acids and one water molecule and two nitrogen atoms from one 2,2'-bipyridine,forming a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The cyclic voltammetry behavior of the complex is also reported.     

Synthesis and Structural Characterization of a New Cadmium(Ⅱ) Complex Bridged by Endo-norbornene-cis-5,6-dicarboxylic Acid

A polynuclear complex [Cd(endc)(H2O)]n·nH2O (endc = endo-norbomene-cis5,6-dicarboxylate anion) has been synthesized by the hydrothermal reaction of cadmium nitrate tetrahydrate with endo-norbomene-cis-5,6-dicarboxylic acid in 1:1 molar ratio,and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.It crystallizes in monoclinic,space group P21/c with a = 1.16471(7),b = 0.95334(7),c = 0.91109(9) nm,Z = 4,V= 1.01035(14)nm3,Dc.= 2.160 g/cm3,μ= 2.172 mm-1,F(000) = 648,R =0.0302 and wR = 0.0752.According to structural analysis,each Cd(Ⅱ) ion is coordinated to six O atoms from three endc anions and one water molecule,giving a distorted octahedral geometry.Two- dimensional layer arrangement of the title complex is constructed from the bridging nature of endc.It is worth notice that adjacent two-dimensional layers are joined together to form a three-dimensional supramolecular framework via intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions.     

Coherent, two-wave interaction in relativistic Cherenkov generators

A relativistic, two-wave generator working near -type oscillations of two lowest modes with frequency band around 8 mm, is investigated experimentally. Obtained output radiation patterns point to a single-frequency radiation character. The efficiency is found to rise in two-wave regimes in comparison with one-wave ones. The generator assembled of two sections is also considered.     

Investigation of Tomato Plant Defence Response to Tobacco Mosaic Virus by Determination of Methyl Salicylate with SPME-Capillary GC-MS

Headspace SPME was applied to investigation of tomato plant defence response to tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) by determination of compounds emitted from tomato plants at the extraction conditions of 25 °C and 15 min. It was found that TMV-inoculated tomato plant released large amount of methyl salicylate (MeSA) as response to TMV and MeSA concentration changed dramatically with time after inoculation. Gaseous MeSA as a signaling compound could induce in surrounding tomato plants to produce salicylic acid (SA) and synthesize and release MeSA. These results show that MeSA might be an airborne plant-signalling molecule in tomato plant response to TMV. The present method provided low detection limit of 2.0 ng L^–1 and needed little sample preparation time (15 min), so the method makes it easy to find the critical times of tomato plant response to TMV by fast determination of MeSA released from tomato plant.     

XANES Determination of Intraatomic Potentials

A new scheme has been developed for determining the parameters of the local one-electron potential in molecules and solids. The scheme is based on interpretation of the experimental X-ray absorption near edge struucture. The scheme is an extension of the method for solving the inverse problem of XANES theory suggested by one of the authors. In this scheme, oscillator strengths and maximum heights are considered along with the energy and half-width of spectral maxima. The scheme is used for determining the intraatomic potential in the nitrogen molecule.Original Russian Text Copyright © 2004 by Yu. F. Migal and O. M. 萘酰氨基修饰β-环糊精对几种荧光染料的分子识别

用光谱滴定技术分别测定了β-环糊精(1)、单-[6-(1-萘酰氨基)-乙基氨基-6-脱氧]-β-环糊精(2)、单-[6-(1-萘酰氨基)-二乙基二氨基-6-脱氧]-β-环糊精(3)在25℃时,pH为7.2、2.0和10.1的缓冲溶液中与几种染料分子形成超分子配合物的稳定常数Ks,并考察了pH=7.2时识别过程的热力学参数ΔH0和TΔS0。结果表明,pH为2.0和10.1时,静电、疏水和氢键作用协同贡献于超分子配合物的形成,如主体2与AR在pH=10.1时形成的Ks=7085;而pH=2.0时的Ks=1034。当pH=7.2时主-客体的尺寸/形状匹配、疏水作用和范德华力决定配合物的稳定性。主体2、3对AR、TNS和ANS的包结配位是放热过程,并给出较大的焓变(-ΔH0),对RhB主要表现为熵驱动过程。     

A force field study of diacetylene molecule by kinetic constant method

The potential constants of diacetylene molecule has been evaluated using kinetic constants. The other molecular constants such as the generalised vibrational mean amplitudes, shrinkage constants, Coriolis coupling constants and centrifugal distortion constants are also calculated using the vibrational frequencies and the results discussed.     

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of a Cadmium Coordination Polymer with Dicyanamide and 1,2-Bis（1,2,4-triazol- 1-yl）ethane

The new cadmium(II) coordination polymer [Cd(bte)2(dca)2]n 1 (bte = 1,2-bis(1,2,4- triazol-1-yl)ethane, dca = dicyanamide) was synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal is of monoclinic, space group P21/n with a = 8.7148(15), b = 8.6142(17), c = 15.204(3) A, β = 92.100(10)o, V = 1140.6(4) A3, Z = 2, Mr = 572.87, Dc = 1.668 g/cm3, F(000) = 572, μ = 1.004 mm-1, the final R = 0.0654 and wR = 0.1429 for 1737 observed reflections (I > 2σ(I)). The cadmium atom is coordinated equatorially by four nitrogen atoms from four bte ligands and axially by two nitrogen atoms from two dca anions to adopt a distorted octahedral geometry. Each bte molecule bridges two cadmium(II) atoms. Two strands of bte molecules are wrapped around each other, and held together by cadmium(II) atoms. 1 Forms a double chain structure containing eighteen-membered Cd2(bte)2 rings.
