Probabilistic Analysis of Condition Numbers for Linear Programming

In this paper, we provide bounds for the expected value of the log of the condition number C(A) of a linear feasibility problem given by a n × m matrix A (Ref. 1). We show that this expected value is O(min{n, m log n}) if n > m and is O(log n) otherwise. A similar bound applies for the log of the condition number C _R(A) introduced by Renegar (Ref. 2).     

The dynamics of water in small volumes probed by incoherent quasi-elastic neutron scattering

Summary The dynamics of water molecules occupying very small volumes can be probed by incoherent quasi-elastic neutron scattering. We summarise some results obtained with wet samples of porous silica and hydrated proteins. The movements of the molecules in the vicinity of the substrate are extremely reduced as compared to those of bulk water at the same temperature. Almost only rotational movements subsist and the local diffusion is of the order of that observed in deeply supercooled water. Some remarks on the Jensen-Hadamard inequalities and applications

We provide some inequalities and integral inequalities connected to the Jensen-Hadamard inequalities for convex functions. In particular, we give some refinements to these inequalities. Some natural applications and further extensions are given.

提出并使用如下广义复合隐迭代格式逼近非扩张映像族{Ti}Ni=1公共不动点:{xn=αnxn-1 (1-αn)Tnyn,yn=rnxn snxn-1 tnTnxn wnTnxn-1,rn sn tn wn=1,{αn},{rn},{sn},{tn},{wn}∈[0,1],这里Tn=TnmodN.该文提出的广义复合隐迭代格式包含了目前多种迭代格式,因此,所得强弱收敛定理推广及发展了Mann,Ishikawa,XuandOri,等许多作者的结果.     

HIGH ACCURACY NUMERICAL METHOD OF THIN-FILM PROBLEMS IN MICROMAGNETICS

In this paper, a new high accuracy numerical method for the thin-film problems of micron and submicron size ferromagnetic elements is proposed. For the computation of stray field, we use the finite element method(FEM) by introducing a semi-discrete artificial boundary condition [1, 2]. In our numerical experiments about the domain patterns and their movement, we can see that the results are accordant to that of experiments and other numerical methods. Our method are very convenient to deal with arbitrary shape of thin films such as a polygon with high accuracy.     

Fixed-point theorems for families of weakly non-expansive maps

In this paper, we present some fixed-point theorems for families of weakly non-expansive maps under some relatively weaker and more general conditions. Our results generalize and improve several results due to Jungck [G. Jungck, Fixed points via a generalized local commutativity, Int. J. Math. Math. Sci. 25 (8) (2001) 497-507], Jachymski [J. Jachymski, A generalization of the theorem by Rhoades and Watson for contractive type mappings, Math. Japon. 38 (6) (1993) 1095-1102], Guo [C. Guo, An extension of fixed point theorem of Krasnoselski, Chinese J. Math. (P.O.C.) 21 (1) (1993) 13-20], Rhoades [B.E. Rhoades, A comparison of various definitions of contractive mappings, Trans. Amer. Math. Soc. 226 (1977) 257-290], and others.     

Superconvergence of discontinuous Galerkin finite element method for the stationary Navier‐Stokes equations

This article focuses on discontinuous Galerkin method for the two‐ or three‐dimensional stationary incompressible Navier‐Stokes equations. The velocity field is approximated by discontinuous locally solenoidal finite element, and the pressure is approximated by the standard conforming finite element. Then, superconvergence of nonconforming finite element approximations is applied by using least‐squares surface fitting for the stationary Navier‐Stokes equations. The method ameliorates the two noticeable disadvantages about the given finite element pair. An extension of gap functions for a system of vector equilibrium problems with applications to optimization problems

In this paper, the notion of gap functions is extended from scalar case to vector one. Then, gap functions and generalized functions for several kinds of vector equilibrium problems are shown. As an application, the dual problem of a class of optimization problems with a system of vector equilibrium constraints (in short, OP) is established, the concavity of the dual function, the weak duality of (OP) and the saddle point sufficient condition are derived by using generalized gap functions.
