A simple scheme using a piece of SiO2 with an equalizing film platted on one side to get flattened gain spectrum of EDFA is studied in this paper. The film works as an inter-stage wavelength-selective filter, it is optimized to place at the middle of the EDF to suppress the ASE light generated by the first piece of EDF and pre-emphasize the signals before they enter the second EDF at the same time. The simulating results of 8 WDM signals show pretty good performance of gain flatness and noise figure as well. It is a facile equalization scheme for wide-band WDM systems. 相似文献

Suppose one agent is free to choose any strategy at every time step, how can he manage to maximize his personal gain? Based on the theory model of two-pump fiber optical parametric amplifier with single-section fiber allocation (FOPA-SF), a new two-pump fiber optical parametric amplifier with three-section fibers arrangement (FOPA-TFs) is put forward, which can provide gain bandwidth of more than 405 nm with optimum fiber parameters calculated by genetic algorithm. The numerical simulation is performed to investigate the influence of pump wavelength allocation on the gain spectrum of FOPA, and it is found that the smaller wavelength separation between the two pumps (Δλ) can provide more uniform gain over a relatively wide bandwidth. The control role of the relative phase between the probe and driving fields on the gain and dispersion in an open three-level ladder atomic system with incoherent pumping and spontaneously generated coherence is investigated. It is shown that by adjusting the value of the relative phase, the switching from lasing with inversion to lasing without inversion (LWI) can be realized; high index of the refraction with zero absorption can be achieved. It is also found that when the driving field is on resonance, the dispersion curve versus the probe detuning is very similar to the gain curve if the relative phase corresponding to the dispersion advances π/2 than that corresponding to the gain. LWI gain from the open system is obviously larger than that from corresponding closed system. When the incoherent pumping is absent, the open system can get LWI gain, moreover the gain is larger than that when the incoherent pumping presents for suitable value of the relative phase, but the corresponding closed system exhibits only absorption. In addition, manipulation effects of atomic exit and ratio of the injection rates on phase dependent gain are also analyzed. 相似文献

Using feedback theory, we analyze the gain of an all-optical gain-clamped praseodymium-doped fluoride fiber amplifier (AOGC PDFFA) for eight-channel multiwavelength operation. We demonstrate by numerical simulation that gain stabilization is achieved when the open-loop gain is higher than the feedback path attenuation. If this condition is fulfilled, the gain stabilizes to a value equal to the feedback path attenuation and is not influenced by the pump power, input signal power, number of channels, doped fiber length, or any other doped fiber parameter. In our setup the AOGC PDFFA noise figure is 0.12 dB lower than the open-loop PDFFA noise figure. 相似文献

The paper focus on describing the important influence and physical law of the Split_Resonant_Rings (SRRs) based on Left Handed Material (LHM) on patch antennas. The FDTD method, together with FEM method is used to study the characteristics of patch antenna based on composite rectangular SRRs. A novel composite rectangular SRR system is formed by assembling the conventional patch antenna and SRRs, it is found that electromagnetic wave resonance occurs at several bands: GSM (880–960 MHz), DCS (1710–1881 MHz), and PCS (1850–1990 MHz). The electromagnetic wave's “tunnel effect” and evanescent waves’ enhancing effect are formed, which can improve the localization extent of electromagnetic wave's energy apparently, such effects can improve the antenna's radiation gain and its matching condition. The phenomenon indicates that such composite rectangular patch antennas are promising in wireless communications such as mobile phone, satellite communication and aviation. 相似文献

The applicability of the concept of permittivity with Im ?gain < 0 to describe the light propagation in a metamaterial system with gain is discussed using the example of a 1D photonic crystal containing gain layers. It is shown that this approach is in agreement with the principle of causality, unless lasing is present. Though the lasing process itself requires nonlinear analysis, the lasing threshold can be determined by linear (negative loss) approximation. Connecting the onset of lasing with the passage of the transfer function pole into the upper half-plane of the complex frequency, we show that (i) if the pump frequency lies in a pass band then an increase in the number N of elementary cells will sooner or later lead to lasing; (ii) if the frequency of the pump lies in the band gap, then lasing at band gap frequencies may occur in a sample with a low N before the band gap has been formed. Nevertheless, lasing will be necessarily suppressed by a further increase in N. In any case, for sufficiently large number of layers due to a finite line width of ?gain(ω), lasing appears in the pass band even if the pump frequency is in the band gap. 相似文献
