Biorthogonal Rational Functions and the Generalized Eigenvalue Problem

We present some general results concerning so-called biorthogonal polynomials of R_II type introduced by M. Ismail and D. Masson. These polynomials give rise to a pair of rational functions which are biorthogonal with respect to a linear functional. It is shown that these rational functions naturally appear as eigenvectors of the generalized eigenvalue problem for two arbitrary tri-diagonal matrices. We study spectral transformations of these functions leading to a rational modification of the linear functional. An analogue of the Christoffel–Darboux formula is obtained.     

Some results on difference Riccati equations

Some properties of solutions for the difference Riccati equations are obtained. The existence and forms of rational solutions, and the Borel exceptional value, zeros, poles and fixed points of transcendental solutions are researched.     

Exposed points and extremal problems in H1 on a bidisc

An essential bounded function ? gives a continuous linear functional on the Hardy space H¹ on the bitorus. In this paper, we consider extremal problems on H¹ when ? is a rational function, ? is a product of one variable functions or ? = |f|/f for some outer function f in H¹ such that f(z, w) has a good property with respect to w for a.e. z. 现行高等代数教材给出了求整系数多项式有理根的经典方法 ,周仲旺近日撰文又给出了一个新方法 ,称其“要比经典的方法有趣简捷”,但没有给出两个方法运算量的定量分析与比较 .本文先对经典方法从数学原理和算法设计两个方面作较详细明确的描述 ;再给出经典算法与周方法运算量的定量分析 ,比较的结果是周方法运算量比经典算法运算量多得多 .     

On regression model selection for the data with correlated errors

A class of regression model selection criteria for the data with correlated errors is proposed. The proposed class of selection criteria is an estimator of weighted prediction risk. In addition, the proposed selection criteria are the generalizations of several commonly used criteria in statistical analysis. The theoretical and asymptotic properties for the class of criteria are established. Further, in the medium-sample case, the results based on a simulation study are quite consistent with the theoretical ones. The proposed criteria perform well in the simulations. Several applications are also given for a variety of statistical models.

Rational approximations,software and test methods for sine and cosine integrals

Rational approximations to the sine integralSi(x) and cosine-integralCi(x) are developed which give an accuracy of 20sf. The robust construction of software for these functions is discussed, together with a test procedure for assessing the performance of such codes. Use of the tests discovers a major error in the netlib library FN codes forSi. Fortran versions of the codes and tests are available by electronic mail.     

Bivariate Blending Thiele-Werner＇s Osculatory Rational Interpolation

Both the expansive Newton＇s interpolating polynomial and the Thiele-Werner＇s interpolation are used to construct a kind of bivariate blending Thiele-Werner＇s osculatory rational interpolation. A recursive algorithm and its characteristic properties are given. An error estimation is obtained and a numerical example is illustrated.
