LOM and HOM damping study in a superconducting deflecting cavity for ALS at LBNL

Superconducting deflecting cavities can be used in synchrotron light source to generate subpicosecond X-ray pulses while the impedance of the lower order modes (LOM) and higher order modes (HOM) in the cavity should be kept below an accepted level to avoid beam instability. These modes can be damped by adding waveguide on beam pipe. Detailed simulation of Q in CST Microwave Studio is introduced and experiment results on an aluminum model cavity with damping waveguide are reported to make a comparison.     

Periodic solutions of damped differential systems with repulsive singular forces

We consider the periodic boundary value problem for the singular differential system: where , , and . The singular potential is of repulsive type in the sense that as . Under Habets-Sanchez's strong force condition on at the origin, the existence results, obtained by coincidence degree in this paper, have no restriction on the damping forces . Meanwhile, some quadratic growth of the restoring potentials at infinity is allowed.

     

Freeze-out volume in multifragmentation --Dynamical simulations

Stochastic mean-field simulations for multifragmenting sources at the same excitation energy per nucleon have been performed. The freeze-out volume, a concept which needs to be precisely defined in this dynamical approach, was shown to increase as a function of three parameters: freeze-out instant, fragment multiplicity and system size.     

Pre-equilibrium dipole strength in charge asymmetric peripheral heavy-ion reactions

We report on the results obtained from the study of the ³²S + ⁶⁴Ni and ³²S + ⁵⁸Ni peripheral reactions at incident energies E _lab = 288 MeV and E _lab = 320 MeV, respectively. High-energy γ-rays were detected in an array of 8 seven-pack BaF₂ clusters. Coincidence with complex fragments detected in 12 three-stage telescopes ensured the selection of peripheral reaction events. All of the relevant reaction parameters were kept constant with the exception of the different initial dipole moment caused by the different entrance channel charge asymmetry. While for quasi-elastic events no N/Z effect was observed in the differential γ-ray multiplicities of the two reactions, for deep-inelastic events a larger dipole γ-ray emission occurs during the more N/Z asymmetric reaction. A theoretical interpretation based on a collective Bremsstrahlung analysis of the reaction dynamics is presented. Constructing the time independent Hamiltonian from a time dependent one

In this paper we introduce a method for finding a time independent Hamiltonian of a given Hamiltonian dynamical system by canonoid transformation of canonical momenta. We find a condition that the system should satisfy to have an equivalent time independent formulation. We study the example of a damped harmonic oscillator and give the new time independent Hamiltonian for it, which has the property of tending to the standard Hamiltonian of the harmonic oscillator as damping goes to zero.

A new approach for modelling the damped Helmholtz oscillator:applications to plasma physics and electronic circuits

In this paper,a new approach is devoted to find novel analytical and approximate solutions to the damped quadratic nonlinear Helmholtz equation(HE)in terms of the Weiersrtrass elliptic function.The exact solution for undamped HE(integrable case)and approximate/semi-analytical solution to the damped HE(non-integrable case)are given for any arbitrary initial conditions.As a special case,the necessary and sufficient condition for the integrability of the damped HE using an elementary approach is reported.In general,a new ansatz is suggested to find a semi-analytical solution to the non-integrable case in the form of Weierstrass elliptic function.In addition,the relation between the Weierstrass and Jacobian elliptic functions solutions to the integrable case will be derived in details.Also,we will make a comparison between the semi-analytical solution and the approximate numerical solutions via using Runge-Kutta fourth-order method,finite difference method,and homotopy perturbation method for the first-two approximations.Furthermore,the maximum distance errors between the approximate/semi-analytical solution and the approximate numerical solutions will be estimated.As real applications,the obtained solutions will be devoted to describe the characteristics behavior of the oscillations in RLC series circuits and in various plasma models such as electronegative complex plasma model.     

含损伤黏弹性阻尼加筋层合板声功率和指向性变异*

该文旨在研究损伤位置和程度对自由阻尼加筋层合板声辐射功率和指向性的影响。基于Mindlin和Timoshenko梁理论,建立了自由阻尼层合板-梁组合结构有限元模型。数值求解四边简支边界条件自由阻尼加筋层合板振动响应,继而通过Rayleigh积分计算加筋层合板辐射声功率和指向性。将计算得到的前4阶模态固有频率、声辐射功率与指向性与已有文献进行了对比基本一致,验证了数值模型的正确性。最后,详细讨论了损伤位置和程度对自由阻尼加筋层合板固有频率、振型、声辐射功率和指向性的影响,结果表明：随着结构损伤程度的增大,声辐射功率峰值向低频移动,在更多角度上出现明显的指向性;声辐射功率和指向性对损伤位置比损伤程度更加敏感。     

强阻尼非线性热弹耦合杆系统的全局吸引子
