幂等算子线性组合的幂等性

设P与Q是Hilbert空间中的两个不同的幂等算子.本文主要刻画了幂等算子P与Q的线性组合仍是幂等算子的充要条件,从而推广了Baksalary与Baksalary (2000)的结论.值得指出的是,我们通过严密的推理发现,其定理的条件P_1P_2≠P_2P_1是非必要的.     

Generalizations of projectivity and supplements revisited for superfluous ideals

We (re)introduce four ideal-related generalizations of classic module-theoretic notions: the ideal-superfluity, projective ideal-covers, the ideal-projectivity, and ideal-supplements. For a superfluous ideal I, the main theorem asserts the equivalence between the conditions: “I-supplements are direct summands in finitely generated projective modules”; “finitely generated I-projective modules are projective”; “projective modules with finitely generated factors modulo I are finitely generated”; “finitely generated flat modules with projective factors modulo I are projective.” Moreover, we provide a property of the ideal I which is sufficient for the equivalence to hold true. The property is expressed in terms of idempotent-lifting in matrix rings.     

Staircase transportation problems with superadditive rewards and cumulative capacities

A cumulative-capacitated transportation problem is studied. The supply nodes and demand nodes are each chains. Shipments from a supply node to a demand node are possible only if the pair lies in a sublattice, or equivalently, in a staircase disjoint union of rectangles, of the product of the two chains. There are (lattice) superadditive upper bounds on the cumulative flows in all leading subrectangles of each rectangle. It is shown that there is a greatest cumulative flow formed by the natural generalization of the South-West Corner Rule that respects cumulative-flow capacities; it has maximum reward when the rewards are (lattice) superadditive; it is integer if the supplies, demands and capacities are integer; and it can be calculated myopically in linear time. The result is specialized to earlier work of Hoeffding (1940), Fréchet (1951), Lorentz (1953), Hoffman (1963) and Barnes and Hoffman (1985). Applications are given to extreme constrained bivariate distributions, optimal distribution with limited one-way product substitution and, generalizing results of Derman and Klein (1958), optimal sales with age-dependent rewards and capacities.To our friend, Philip Wolfe, with admiration and affection, on the occasion of his 65th birthday.Research was supported respectively by the IBM T.J. A Note on Range-Inclusive Maps in Rings with Idempotents

Let A be a ring, let M be an A-bimodule, and let C be the center of M. A map F: A → M is said to be range-inclusive if [F(x), A] ? [x, M] for every x ? A. Recently, Bre?ar proved that if A is a unital ring and M a unital A-bimodule such that A contains wide idempotents, then every range-inclusive additive map F: A → M is of the form F(x) = λx + μ(x) for some λ ?C and μ: A → C. Our main purpose is to remove the assumption of unitality in the above result.     

Semisimple finite group algebra of a generalized strongly monomial group

The complete algebraic structure of semisimple finite group algebra of a generalized strongly monomial group is provided. This work extends the work of Broche and del Río on strongly monomial groups. The theory is complimented by an algorithm and is illustrated with an example.     

Standardly stratified lower triangular K-algebras with enough idempotents

In this paper we study the lower triangular matrix $\mathbb{K}$-algebra $\mathrm{\Lambda }:=\left[\begin{array}{cc}\hfill T\hfill & \hfill 0\hfill \\ \hfill M\hfill & \hfill U\hfill \end{array}\right]$, where U and T are basic $\mathbb{K}$-algebras with enough idempotents and M is an U-T-bimodule where $\mathbb{K}$ acts centrally. Moreover, we characterise in terms of U, T and M when, on one hand, the lower triangular matrix $\mathbb{K}$-algebra Λ is standardly stratified in the sense of [15]; and on the other hand, when Λ is locally bounded in the sense of Gabriel [10]. Finally, we also study several properties relating the projective dimensions in the categories of finitely generated modules $\mathrm{mod}(U)$, $\mathrm{mod}(T)$ and $\mathrm{mod}(\mathrm{\Lambda })$.     

Primitive idempotents of irreducible cyclic codes and self-dual cyclic codes over Galois rings

Let $R$ be the Galois ring $GR(p^k,s)$ of characteristic $p^k$ and cardinality $p^{sk}$. Firstly, we give all primitive idempotent generators of irreducible cyclic codes of length $n$ over $R$, and a $p$-adic integer ring with $gcd(p,n)=1$. Secondly, we obtain all primitive idempotents of all irreducible cyclic codes of length $r{l}^m$ over $R$, where $r,l,$ and $t$ are three primes with $2?l$, $r|(q^t?1)$, $l^v\parallel (q^t?1)$ and $gcd(rl,q(q?1))=1$. Finally, as applications, weight distributions of all irreducible cyclic codes for $t=2$ and generator polynomials of self-dual cyclic codes of length $l^m$ and $r{l}^m$ over $R$ are given.
