A method for finding the path of a quasi-static crack growing in a brittle body is presented. The propagation process is modelled by a sequence of discrete steps optimizing the elastic energy released. An explicit relationship between the optimal growing direction and the parameters defining the local elastic field around the tip is obtained for an anti-plane field. This allows to describe a simple algorithm to compute the crack path.

Acceleration waves propagating in isotropic solids at finite temperatures are studied by applying the method of singular surfaces to a new continuum model derived statistical-mechanically from a three-dimensional lattice model. The continuum model explicitly takes into account the microscopic thermal vibrations of the constituent atoms as one of the field variables. The propagation speeds and the ratios of mechanical and thermal amplitudes for both longitudinal and transverse waves are consistently determined. The differential equations that govern the time variation of the amplitudes of the waves are also derived. The analytical results, which are valid over a wide temperature range that includes the melting point, are evaluated numerically for several materials, and their physical implications are discussed. Non-destructive testing of tubes using a time reverse numerical simulation (TRNS) method 总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
A method for the detection of defects in cylindrical structures and the determination of their positions and orientations is presented in this paper. The scattered field, which is generated by the interaction of excited guided waves with a defect, is evaluated with an approach named time reverse numerical simulation method (TRNS). Since the excited waves and the scattered field propagate along the sample, the time-consuming scanning of the whole tube can be eliminated. The scattered displacement field is measured in three dimensions over time with a laser vibrometer at different locations distributed equally around the circumference at a fixed axial coordinate far away from the defect. Instead of analyzing the complicated time signals directly, they are played back in time. If the recorded displacement histories of the scattered field are reversed in time and played back in an identical structure, the waves travel back the same path and interfere to a maximum at their origin. The result is an amplitude increase at the position of the defect where the scattered field was generated. Instead of playing back the recorded time signals in an experiment, this step is replaced by a numerical simulation. Only this enables the visualization and detection of the amplitude increase. As long as the simulation is of high accuracy, the position of the maximum interference corresponds exactly to the location of the defect in the experiment, although no defect is implemented in the simulation. 相似文献

To facilitate the implementation and verification of the new ultrasound hydrophone calibration techniques described in the companion paper (somewhere in this issue) a nonlinear propagation model was developed. A brief outline of the theoretical considerations is presented and the model's advantages and disadvantages are discussed. The results of simulations yielding spatial and temporal acoustic pressure amplitude are also presented and compared with those obtained using KZK and Field II models. Excellent agreement between all models is evidenced. The applicability of the model in discrete wideband calibration of hydrophones is documented in the companion paper somewhere in this volume. 相似文献

This paper deals with the apparent superluminal propagation of electromagnetic pulses in a linear dispersive medium. One specifically
examines the possibility that the pulse leaving the medium may be nearly identical to the incident one (low distortion) and
in significant advance of it (strongly negative group-delays). Favourable conditions are obtained in a dilute medium where
the required anomalous dispersion originates in an ensemble of narrow absorption or gain lines. Analytical expressions of
the advancement of the pulse centre-of-gravity and of the lowest order distortion are established from the transfer-function
of the medium. The experiments already achieved with arrangements involving a single absorption-line or a gain-doublet are
analysed in detail and compared. The considerable difficulties to overcome in order to attain advancements comparable to the
pulse width without important distortion are pointed out. New and promising schemes involving a narrow dip in a gain profile
or absorption-doublets are proposed.

波导耦合器是组成光纤传感系统和光纤通信系统光收发组件及模块的重要元器件,是实现光收发模块一体化光电集成的基础。给出了一种用光纤陀螺系统的X型四端口波导耦合器的工作原理,采用有效折射率法和BPM(Beam propagation method)法建立了耦合器的数学模型,计算并分析了耦合器尺寸在尽可能小的情况下和在满足单模传输的条件下耦合器的耦合系数、有效耦合长度、分光比以及回波损耗等参数之间的关系,并对其关键技术进行了系统的研究。仿真结果表明,所设计的波导耦合器在低损耗情况下分光比可达到50%∶50%,耦合器全长为33.5mm,输入输出波导间距为410μm,芯层截面积为6μm×6μm。 相似文献

在真空环境中,利用空间反射电磁波测量装置,开展微波等离子体喷流对垂直和水平极化电磁波衰减的实验研究,分析不同极化电磁波在等离子体中衰减的影响因素.实验结果表明:以氩气为工质,真空室中微波等离子体喷流对垂直和水平极化电磁波具有显著的吸收效应.发生器流量、功率以及实验真空度对垂直极化电磁波在等离子体中的衰减影响明显.真空度和发生器功率对水平极化电磁波没有显著影响.
