We show theoretically that thermomechanical effects in dye-doped nematic liquid crystals when illuminated by laser beams, can become important and lead to molecular reorientation at intensities substantially lower than that needed for optical Fréedericksz transition. We propose a 1D model that assumes homogenous intensity distribution in the plane of the layer and is capable to describe such a thermally induced threshold lowering. We consider a particular geometry, with a linearly polarized light incident perpendicularly on a layer of homeotropically aligned dye-doped nematics.  相似文献

Phase fluctuations of a d-wave superconducting order parameter are theoretically studied in the context of high-Tc cuprates. We consider an extended t-J model describing electrons in a layer which also contains long-range Coulomb interactions. The constraint of having at most singly occupied sites is enforced by an additional Hubbard term. The Heisenberg interaction is decoupled by a d-wave order parameter in the particle-particle channel. Assuming first that the equilibrium state has long-range phase order, the effective action is derived perturbatively for small fluctuations within a path integral formalism, in the presence of the Coulomb and Hubbard interaction terms. In a second step, a more general derivation of is performed in terms of a gradient expansion which only assumes that the gradients of the order parameter are small whereas the value of the phase may be large. We show that in the phase-only approximation the resulting reduces in leading order in the field gradients to the perturbative one which thus allows to treat also the case without long-range phase order or vortices. Our result generalizes previous expressions for to the case of interacting electrons, is explicitly gauge invariant, and avoids problematic singular gauge transformations.  相似文献

The dependence of the internal dynamics of triatomic van der Waals clusters on the rate of nonrigid rotation has been studied. The method of decomposition of the system's motion into orthogonal modes of the motion has been proposed. Additionally, a new method of separation of the kinetic energy, captured by the modes, into rotational and vibrational components has been developed. It has been found that the most significant factor for the chaotic behavior of the cluster is the partitioning of the vibrational and rotational energies among the modes.  相似文献

The switching process is allowed to be dependent on the particle system. 以耦合映象格子模型为例,提出利用单向耦合驱动时空混沌的同步方案,并进行了数值分析.结果表明,适当地选择耦合驱动强度因子和均衡系数,两个时空混沌系统可以达到准确同步.通过计算最大条件Lyapunov指数,给出了可实现时空混沌同步的最小耦合强度以及最小耦合强度与系统参数之间的关系曲线.数值模拟还证明,此方法工作鲁棒 关键词: 时空混沌 同步 单向耦合 最大条件Lyapunov指数 数值模拟  相似文献

This work focuses on uncertainty quantification of eight random parameters required as input for 1D modelling of methane catalytic partial oxidation within a highly dense foam reactor. Parameters related to geometrical properties, reactor thermophysics and catalyst loading are taken as uncertain. A widely applied 1D heterogeneous mathematical model that accounts for proper transport and surface chemistry steps is considered for the evaluation of deterministic samples. The non-intrusive spectral projection approach based on polynomial chaos expansion is applied to determine the stochastic temperature and species profiles along the reactor axial direction as well as their ensemble mean and error bars with a confidence interval of 95%. Probability density functions of relevant variables in specific reactor sections are also analysed. A different contribution is noticed from each random input to the total uncertainty range. Porosity, specific surface area and catalyst loading appear as the major sources of uncertainty to bulk gas and surface temperature and species molar profiles. Porosity and the mean pore diameter have an important impact on the pressure drop along the whole reactor as expected. It is also concluded that any trace of uncertainty in the eight input random variables can be almost dissipated near the catalyst outlet section for a long-enough catalyst, mainly due to the approximation to thermodynamic equilibrium.  相似文献

In this paper, the complex dynamical behavior of a fractional-order Lorenz-like system with two quadratic terms is investigated. The existence and uniqueness of solutions for this system are proved, and the stabilities of the equilibrium points are analyzed as one of the system parameters changes. The pitchfork bifurcation is discussed for the first time, and the necessary conditions for the commensurate and incommensurate fractional-order systems to remain in chaos are derived. The largest Lyapunov exponents and phase portraits are given to check the existence of chaos. Finally, the sliding mode control law is provided to make the states of the Lorenz-like system asymptotically stable. Numerical simulation results show that the presented approach can effectively guide chaotic trajectories to the unstable equilibrium points.  相似文献

This paper presents an analysis on the nonlinear dynamics and multi-pulse chaotic motions of a simply-supported symmetric cross-ply composite laminated rectangular thin plate with the parametric and forcing excitations. Firstly, based on the Reddy’s third-order shear deformation plate theory and the model of the von Karman type geometric nonlinearity, the nonlinear governing partial difirential equations of motion for the composite laminated rectangular thin plate are derived by using the Hamilton’s principle. Then, using the second-order Galerkin discretization, the partial differential governing equations of motion are transformed to nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The case of the primary parametric resonance and 1:1 internal resonance is considered. Four-dimensional averaged equation is obtained by using the method of multiple scales. From the averaged equation obtained here, the theory of normal form is used to give the explicit expressions of normal form. Based on normal form, the energy phase method is utilized to analyze the global bifurcations and multi-pulse chaotic dynamics of the composite laminated rectangular thin plate. The theoretic results obtained above illustrate the existence of the chaos for the Smale horseshoe sense in a parametrical and forcing excited composite laminated thin plate. The chaotic motions of the composite laminated rectangular thin plate are also found by using numerical simulation, which also indicate that there exist different shapes of the multi-pulse chaotic motions for the composite laminated rectangular thin plate.  相似文献

神经元电活动理论模型Hindmarsh-Rose(HR)模型提示有位于周期1和周期2放电模式之间的一类特殊的混沌放电,但长期以来对其没有获得足够认识.依据回归映射的确定性结构和非线性预报的短期可预报性,确认了在大鼠的实验性神经起步点的实验中发现的位于周期1和周期2放电模式之间的非周期放电是混沌放电模式,还将该混沌放电模式区分为3个不同表观样式.其中1个表观形式与HR模型的仿真结果相类似,验证了HR模型的理论预期;其余2个样式与仿真结果并不相似.进一步揭示了3个表观样式的动力学特征以及相互之间的区别与联系,并与位于周期2和周期3节律之间、周期3和周期4节律之间的混沌比较了异同,也区别了从周期1到混沌再到周期2放电模式的节律转迁历程与其他的从周期1到周期2节律的分岔过程的不同.研究结果确认了该类特殊混沌节律和相应分岔过程的新特征,丰富了混沌放电节律和节律分岔序列的种类.还对仿真该混沌的多样性和非光滑特性,以及揭示该类混沌的产生途径等进行了讨论. 关键词: 混沌 神经放电模式 分岔 节律  相似文献
