Synthesis of the first stable carborane containing simple enol

A carborane-containing stable simple enol — 1-2-isopropyl-o-carboran-I-yl)-1-phenyl2-mesityl-2-lrydroxyctlrylcne — has been synthesized. This enol does not isomerize to the starting ketone or keto-enol mixture even after prolonged heating in benzene in the presence of CF₃COOH.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk. 合成并测定了十钒酸盐Ｎａ_６Ｖ_（１０）Ｏ_（２８）·１２Ｈ_２Ｏ的单晶结构。晶体属单斜晶系，Ｐ２_１／ｎ群空间，ａ＝１２．０１９（２），ｂ＝１７．１５４（２），ｃ＝１８．１７８（６），β＝１０６．２９（２）°，Ｖ＝３５７９（１），Ｍ_ｒ＝１２８７．５，Ｆ（０００）＝２５６０，μ＝２５，４４ｃｍ￣（－１），Ｚ＝４，Ｄ_ｃ＝２．３８ｇ·ｃｍ（－３）。结构由重原子法解出，全矩阵最小二乘法修正至Ｒ＝０．０６４，Ｒ_ｗ＝０．０８３。Ｖ_（１０）簇阴离子可以看成由１０个ＶＯ_６变形八面体形成，其中氧原子有４种类型：端氧、二桥氧、三桥氧和六桥氧。结果表明，阳离子相同但结晶水的数目不同时，十钒酸盐的晶系和空间群不同。     

Zweikernige silylenverbrückte Cyclopentadienylrhodiumbis(ethen)-Komplexe,photochemische Reaktion mit Benzolderivaten und selektiver Einschluß von Methylcyclopentan in das Kristallgitter von [Me2Si{3-But-C5H3Rh(C2H4)2}2]

Dinuclear Silylene Bridged Cyclopentadienylrhodiumbis(ethene) Complexes, Photochemical Reaction with Benzene Derivatives, and Selective Inclusion of Methylcyclopentane into the Crystal Lattice of [Me₂Si{3-Bu^t-C₅H₃Rh(C₂H₄)₂}₂] By reaction of [{(C₂H₄)₂RhCl}₂] with Na₂[Me₂Si(C₅H₄)₂] or with Li₂[Me₂Si(3-Bu^t-C₅H₃)₂] in THF the dinuclear silylene bridged complexes [Me₂Si{C₅H₄Rh(C₂H₄)₂}₂] 1 and [Me₂Si{3-Bu^t-C₅H₃Rh(C₂H₄)₂}₂] 2 , respectively, were synthesized. Due to the asymmetric substitution of the five-membered rings and their hindered rotation around the Si? C axes, 2 is formed as three isomers. The X-ray structure analysis of 2 obtained from hexane reveals the selective inclusion of methylcyclopentane, the content of which in the solvent is about 17%, into the crystal lattice. UV irradiation of 1 in hexane in the presence of benzene causes elimination of the ethene ligands yielding the μ-η³:η³ benzene complex [Me₂Si(C₅H₄Rh₂)₂C₆H₆] which cannot be separated from unreacted 1 . However, separation is possible in case of the hexamethylbenzene compound 4 analogous with 3 .     

1,3-双(N-取代苯氨基)方酸内鎓盐的合成

在方酸内鎓盐中,四碳环的电荷分离使其氧原子带部分负电荷,成为潜在的良好配位基。 据此,作者于前文中合成了以双苯氨基方酸内鎓盐为骨架、苯环的2—位对称引入多甘醇醚氧 链的多齿配体,并以它们为萃取剂或电活性物质成功地实现了水相中UO_2~(2 )的萃取及碱水中NH_3 的测定。如果配基链由苯环的2—位移至N上,整个配体分子的几何及电子结构将发生改变, 四碳环上的氧与侧链的匹配情况也将不同。此外,苯环上的取代基将可能通过共轭体系直接影响 四碳环上氧的电荷状态及配位能力。因此,本文合成并研究了一类新的1,3—双(N—取代苯氨基) 方酸内鎓盐型多齿配体2(a～h)(见下式)。     

Synthesis of ultrafine SiC from rice hulls (husks): A plasma process

Heat-treated rice hulls have been used as precursor material for synthesis of ultrafne SiC in a RF plasma reactor. Rice hulls containing finely distributed silica and active carbon act as a source for SiC formation. The plasma-synthesized powder contained ultrafnc -SiC with excess carbon and some unreacted silica. Post-treatment processes such as oxidation and acid (HF) treatment appear to be effective in removing the excess carbon and silica.     

Surface effects on phase transition behavior and thermal polymerization of long-chain diynoic acids in micro DSC measurements

Effects of metal surfaces, such as aluminium, silver and gold, on the melting behavior and thermal polymerization of long-chain diynoic acids having a diacetylene group at different positions were investigated by thermal analyses using DSC, TG and other methods. The surface effects of metals were significant in the order of Ag, Al and Au. These effects are attributable to the anchoring of carboxyl group on the surface by chemisorption, which leads to unfavorable condition for polymerization of heptadeca-2,4-diynoic acid. In the case of tricosa-10,12-diynoic acid, containing a flexible methylene chain, inserted between COOH and C≡C?C≡C groups, the anchoring of COOH on the metal surface causes rather favorable effect on the polymerization.     

Second Dissociation Constants of 4-[N-morpholino]butanesulfonic Acid and N-[2-hydroxyethyl]piperazine-N′-4-butanesulfonic Acid from 5 to 55°C

The values of the second dissociation constant, pK ₂, for the dissociation of the NH⁺ charge center of the zwitterionic buffer compounds 4-(N-morpholino)butanesulfonic acid (MOBS), and N-(2-hydroxyethyl)piperazine-N-4-butanesulfonic acid (HEPBS) have been determined from 5 to 55°C, including, 37°C at intervals of 5°C. The electromotive-force (emf) measurements have been made utilizing hydrogen electrodes and silver–silver chloride electrodes. The value of pK ₂ for MOBS was found to be 7.702 ± 0.0005, and 8.284 ± 0.0004 for HEPBS, at 25°C, respectively. The related thermodynamic quantities, G ^o, H ^o, S ^o, and C _p ^o for the dissociation processes of MOBS and HEPBS have been derived from the temperature coefficients of pK ₂. Both the MOBS and HEPBS buffer materials are useful as primary pH standards for the control of pH 7.3 to 8.6 in the region close to that of physiological fluids.

Controlled-porosity glasses as alternative adsorbents to silica gel for HPLC

Summary The paper deals with the use of controlled-porosity glasses (CPGs) as adsorbents for HPLC. The physicochemical and chromatographic properties of small-pore CPGs are compared to the analogous properties of silica gels. The results show good correlation between them and suggest the possibility of application of CPGs as adsorbents for liquid chromatography.
