Convergence of Yang-Mills-Higgs flow for twist Higgs pairs on Riemann surfaces

We consider the gradient flow of the Yang-Mills-Higgs functional of twist Higgs pairs on a Hermitian vector bundle(E,H)over Riemann surface X.It is already known the gradient flow with initial data(A0,φ0)converges to a critical point(A∞,φ∞).Using a modified Chern-Weil type inequality,we prove that the limiting twist Higgs bundle(E,d′′A∞,φ∞)coincides with the graded twist Higgs bundle defined by the HarderNarasimhan-Seshadri filtration of the initial twist Higgs bundle(E,d′′A0,φ0),generalizing Wilkin’s results for untwist Higgs bundle.     

Lie algebroid modules and representations up to homotopy

We establish a relationship between two different generalizations of Lie algebroid representations: representation up to homotopy and Vaĭntrob’s Lie algebroid modules. Specifically, we show that there is a noncanonical way to obtain a representation up to homotopy from a given Lie algebroid module, and that any two representations up to homotopy obtained in this way are equivalent in a natural sense. We therefore obtain a one-to-one correspondence, up to equivalence.     

LENTICULAR NONCOMMUTATIVE TORI

All C*-algebras of sections of locally trivial C* -algebra bundles over ∏i=1sLki(ni) with fibres Aw Mc(C) are constructed, under the assumption that every completely irrational noncommutative torus Aw is realized as an inductive limit of circle algebras, where Lki (ni) are lens spaces. Let Lcd be a cd-homogeneous C*-algebra over whose cd-homogeneous C*-subalgebra restricted to the subspace Tr × T2 is realized as C(Tr) A1/d Mc(C), and of which no non-trivial matrix algebra can be factored out.The lenticular noncommutative torus Lpcd is defined by twisting in by a totally skew multiplier p on Tr+2 × Zm-2. It is shown that is isomorphic to if and only if the set of prime factors of cd is a subset of the set of prime factors of p, and that Lpcd is not stablyisomorphic to if the cd-homogeneous C*-subalgebra of Lpcd restricted to some subspace LkiLki (ni) is realized as the crossed product by the obvious non-trivial action of Zki on a cd/ki-homogeneous C*-algebra over S2ni+1 for ki an integer greater than

Practical techniques for a three‐dimensional FEM analysis of incompressible fluid flow contained with slip walls and a downstream tube bundle

Two practical techniques are proposed in this paper to simulate a flow contained in a plenum with a downstream tube bundle under a PC environment. First, a technique to impose slip wall conditions on smooth‐faced planes and sharp edges is proposed to compensate for the mesh coarseness relative to boundary layer thickness. In particular, a new type of Poisson equation is formulated to simultaneously satisfy both such velocity boundary conditions on walls and the incompressibility constraint. Second, a numerical model for a downstream tube bundle is proposed, where hydraulic resistance in a tube is imposed as a traction boundary condition on a fluid surface contacting the tube bundle end. The effectiveness of the techniques is numerically demonstrated in the application to a flow in a condenser water box. Copyright © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

When closed graph manifolds are finitely covered by surface bundles over S 1

The problem of deciding whether a graph manifold is finitely covered by a surface bundle over the circle is discussed in this paper. A necessary and sufficient condition in term of the solutions of a certain matrix equation is obtained, as well as a necessary condition which is easy to compute. Our results sharpen and extend the earlier results of J. Leucke-Y. Wu, W. Neumann, and S. Wang-F. Yu in this topic. Supported in part by NSFC     

Spaces of idempotent measures of compact metric spaces

We investigate certain geometric properties of the spaces of idempotent measures. In particular, we prove that the space of idempotent measures on an infinite compact metric space is homeomorphic to the Hilbert cube.
