Birefringence of muscovite mica (neno) is usually calculated from the dispersion relations of the indices ne and no. As small differences between relatively large experimentally-measured values, the few available data for birefringence of mica are widely distinct and sometimes contradict basic experimental facts. A different procedure is adopted in this work to measure birefringence directly as a single quantity in terms of the thicknesses of mica plates and the wavelengths at which they act as quarterwave or halfwave phase retarders. Birefringence is found to decrease gradually from −0.0040 at 420 nm to −0.0046 at 700 nm in conformity with pertinent independent experimental results.  相似文献

通过调整SiO2-MgO-Al2O3-K2O-F基础玻璃的组成和热处理条件,制备了云母/莫来石复合可加工微晶玻璃.应用扫描电子显微镜和X射线衍射技术研究了可加工微晶玻璃的析晶特征.结果表明:添加3.0;ZnO(质量分数)的基础玻璃析出了锌尖晶石相,而锌尖晶石的析出抑制莫来石相的形成,没有得到云母/莫来石复合材料.当玻璃中添加3.0;的V2O5后,在试样中同时析出莫来石和云母晶体,但没有形成莫来石/云母复合的组织.含V2O5 8.0;的玻璃在等温析晶中,从表面析出莫来石和粗大枝状的云母晶体,云母间相互交错程度较低,只有在随炉升温的情况下,云母晶体以莫来石相为核心异质生长,形成均匀分布的云母/莫来石复合微晶玻璃材料.  相似文献

Summary: Polyimide‐mica hybrid films were prepared via ultrasonic dispersion and in situ polymerization process from a solution of a polyimide precursor and mica in N,N‐dimethylacetamide, and their structure was characterized by FTIR and XRD techniques. The dependence of dielectric properties, such as dielectric constant and electrical breakdown strength, of the hybrid films on the content of mica was studied at room and cryogenic temperatures. The results show that the dielectric constant of PI‐mica hybrid films decreases with the increase of the mica content at temperatures from −150 to 150 °C and at frequency range from 1 kHz to 1 MHz. It was found that the cryogenic electrical breakdown strength of the PI‐mica hybrid films could meet the requirements of cryogenic insulating materials.

An effect of radiation-enhanced diffusion during boron ion implantation into 200-500°C germanium substrates has been found. The boron-enhanced diffusion coefficient is independent of the temperature over the range 200-500°C during ion implantation, depends upon the dose rate of the incident ions and its value corresponds to the thermal diffusion of boron in germanium at 800°C.  相似文献

To develop polarizer functioning in the extreme ultraviolet (EUV) and soft X-ray region, the polarization performance of synthetic mica has been investigated theoretically with a simulation code using Fresnel equations and optical constants from the Henke database. The reflectance of synthetic mica crystal for s and p polarization was measured to investigate its polarization performance in a home-made synchrotron radiation soft X-ray polarimeter at beamline 3W1B, Beijing Synchrotron Radiation Facility (BSRF). The reflectivity of the synthetic mica crystal at an angle of grazing incidence of 48° was obtained from the experimental data, which is about 4.8 × 10-3 at 25 nm and 6.0 × 10-4 at 12 nm, and the linear polarizance of the X-ray reflected by the synthetic mica crystal that we measured using an analyzer-rotating method increases from 80% to 96.6% in this EUV region, while higher than 98.2% in the simulation. The result indicates that this synthetic mica crystal works as a practical polarizer in this EUV region of 12--25 nm, and also in an extensive wavelength region higher than 25 nm.  相似文献

Different aluminosilicates, such as montmorillonite, vermiculite and mica, were surface-treated with a variety of organic modifiers to quantify factors affecting the thermal stability of the modified fillers. Montmorillonites with different cation exchange capacities were also used. Thermal characterisation was carried out via high resolution thermogravimetric analysis and the results were correlated with X-ray diffraction measurements. Modified substrates, such as montmorillonite, vermiculite and mica, differed in their thermal behaviour even when modified with the same surface modifiers. Phosphonium-based modifiers were the most thermally stable, compared to pyridinium and ammonium ions. Mixed brushes from the modifiers also influenced the thermal behaviour of the modified substrates. When further modified using physical adsorption or chemical reactions on the surface, the modified minerals also displayed alterations in the thermal behaviour of the fillers. The results can be used as a guide for the selection of surface modifiers in the nanocomposite synthesis process where compounding of the filler with the polymer at high temperature and shear is required.  相似文献

Superabsorbent polymer acrylamide (AM)/itaconic acid (IA) and its nanocomposite were synthesized by redox polymerization in an aqueous solution of both monomers with mica used as an inorganic additive. The influences of IA concentration, mica content, and crosslinker concentration on the water absorption and physical properties of the superabsorbent polymer and its nanocomposite were examined. Water absorbency in artificial urine by the synthesized copolymers, and the gel strength of the superabsorbent copolymers and their nanocomposites, were tested with loads of 0.28 or 0.70 psi. Transmission electron micrographs and X‐ray diffraction confirmed that the polymer chains were successfully intercalated into the silicate layers in the mica. The water absorbency and the artificial urine absorbency of the composite with an AM‐to‐IA mole ratio of 95:5, 0.2% mol N‐MBA, and 5% w/w mica were 748 ± 5 and 76 ± 2 g g?1, respectively, whilst the neat copolymer achieved only 640 ± 7 and 72 ± 2 g g?1 in water and artificial urine, respectively. The viscoelastic behavior suggested that the swollen gel of the nanocomposites exhibited mechanical stability and elasticity. Copyright © 2009 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
