Numerical simulation of thermally and chemically nonequilibrium flows and heat transfer in underexpanded induction plasmatron jets

The results of numerical simulation are presented for thermally and chemically nonequilibrium air plasma flows in a plasmatron discharge channel and underexpanded dissociated and partially ionized air jets flowing past a cylindrical model with a blunt leading edge and cooled copper surface under the experimental conditions realized in a VGU-4 100 kW induction plasmatron (Institute for Problems in Mechanics of the Russian Academy of Sciences) (see, for example, [1, 2]). The nonequilibrium excitation of the vibrational degrees of freedom of the molecules in the modal approximation and the difference between the electron and translational heavy-particle temperatures are taken into account in the calculations. The calculated data on the heat transfer and pressure at the stagnation point are compared with the results obtained within the framework of the thermally equilibrium model. Comparison with the experimental data obtained in the Institute for Problem in Mechanics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Laboratory for interaction between plasma and radiation and materials) and kindly provided for comparison purposes gives satisfactory agreement.     

Synthesis and Crystal Structure of a Novel Organic Adduct Nonlinear Optical Material: 3,5-Dinitrobenzonic Acid·ethanolamine (3,5-DNBEA)

The title compound (C2H7NO·C7H4N2O6) has been obtained by the reaction of etha- nolamine with 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid in deionized water at room temperature. The crystal crystal- lizes in orthorhombic, space group P212121 with a = 6.048(2), b = 9.146(3), c = 21.955(7)(A), C9H11N3O7, Mr = 273.21, Z = 4, V = 1214.3(7)(A)3, Dc = 1.494 g/cm3, F(000) = 568, μ(MoKα) = 0.131 mm-1, R1 = 0.0338 and wR2 = 0.0497. The new organic adduct is composed of one ethanolamine and one 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid, which are linked up by O-H…O and N-H…O types of hydrogen bonds to form a nine-membered ring and an eleven-membered ring, extending into a one-dimensional network structure.     

Radiative lifetimes in Ce I and Ce II

New radiative lifetime measurements based on time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence techniques are reported for 18 even-parity levels belonging to the 4f5d^26p and 4f ²5d ² configurations of Ce I and 6 even-parity levels belonging to the 5d^26s, 4f5d6p, and 4f6s6p configurations of Ce II. Free neutral and singly ionized cerium atoms were produced by laser ablation. The Ce I and Ce II levels range in energy from 26 545 to 29 102 cm^-1, and 42 573 to 48 152 cm^-1, respectively. Asymptotics of estimates in constrained nonlinear regression with long-range dependent innovations

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the asymptotic properties of the least squares estimates (L ₂-estimates) and the least absolute deviation estimates (L ₁-estimates) of the parameters of a nonlinear regression model subject to a set of equality and inequality restrictions, which has a long-range dependent stationary process as its stochastic errors. Then we will compare the asymptotic relative efficiencies of the above estimators.     

Spin polarization effect for Tc2 molecule

Density functional method (DFT) (B3p86) of Gaussian98 has been used to optimize the structure of the Tc_2 molecule. The result shows that the ground state for Tc_2 molecule is an 11-multiple state and its electronic configuration is {}^{11}Σ_g^-, which shows the spin polarization effect of Tc_2 molecule of a transition metal element for the first time. Meanwhile, we have not found any spin pollution because the wavefunction of the ground state does not mingle with wavefunctions of higher energy states. So, that the ground state for Tc_2 molecule is an 11-multiple state is indicative of the spin polarization effect of Tc_2 molecule of a transition metal element: that is, there exist 10 parallel spin electrons. The non-conjugated electron is greatest in number. These electrons occupy different spacious tracks, so that the energy of Tc_2 molecule is minimized. It can be concluded that the effect of parallel spin of the Tc_2 molecule is larger than the effect of the conjugated molecule, which is obviously related to the effect of electron d delocalization. In addition, the Murrell--Sorbie potential functions with the parameters for the ground state {}^{11}Σ_g^- and other states of Tc_2 molecule are derived. Dissociation energy D_e for the ground state of T_{c2} molecule is 2.266eV, equilibrium bond length R_e is 0.2841nm, vibration frequency ω_e is 178.52cm^{-1}. Its force constants f_2, f_3, and f_4 are 0.9200aJ·nm^{-2}, --3.5700aJ·nm^{-3}, 11.2748aJ·nm^{-4} respectively. The other spectroscopic data for the ground state of Tc_2 molecule ω_eχ_e, B_e, α_e are 0.5523cm^{-1}, 0.0426cm^{-1}, 1.6331×10^{-4}cm^{-1} respectively.     

数字全息图变频采样研究

根据Whittaker-Shannon抽样定理,对菲涅耳全息图进行变频率采样,保证整个全息图各部分采样频率为该处相应空间频率的两倍,从而完全消除数字全息图由于采样冗余而带来全息图的信息冗余.并且,对变频采样后的全息图进行线性插值恢复即可获得良好的再现像质.实验和理论均证明了该方法的有效性和可行性,为全息图的信息存贮与传输提出一条新的思路.

Summary This article provides a glimpse of some of the highlights of the joint work of Endre Csáki and Pál Révész since 1979. The topics of this short exploration of the rich stochastic milieu of this inspiring collaboration revolve around Brownian motion, random walks and their long excursions, local times and additive functionals, iterated processes, almost sure local and global central limit theorems, integral functionals of geometric stochastic processes, favourite sites--favourite values and jump sizes for random walk and Brownian motion, random walking in a random scenery, and large void zones and occupation times for coalescing random walks.     

Investigations of low- and high-spin states of <Superscript>132</Superscript>La

The fusion evaporation reaction ¹²²Sn(¹⁴N, 4n)¹³²La was used to populate the high-spin states of ¹³²La at the beam energy of 60 MeV. A new band consisting of mostly E2 transitions has been discovered. This band has the interesting links to the ground state 2^- and the isomeric state 6^-. A new transition of energy 351 keV connecting the low-spin states of the positive-parity band based on the πh _11/2 ⊗ νh _11/2 particle configuration, has been found. This has played a very important role in resolving the existing ambiguities and inconsistencies in the spin assignment of the band head.
