New synthetic approach to substituted isoindolo[2,1-a]quinoline carboxylic acids via intramolecular Diels-Alder reaction of 4-(N-furyl-2)-4-arylaminobutenes-1 with maleic anhydride

Acylation of substituted 4-(furyl-2)-4-arylaminobut-1-enes with maleic anhydride provided 2-allyl-6-carboxy-4-oxo-3-aza-10-oxatricyclo[5.2.1.0^1,5]dec-8-enes in high yield under mild reaction conditions. The Diels-Alder adducts are formed via an initial amide formation followed by a stereoselective intramolecular [4+2] exo-cycloaddition reaction. Treatment of the tricyclic compounds with phosphoric acid at high temperatures (70-120 °C) promoted cyclic ether opening, intramolecular cyclization and aromatization to give the corresponding tetracyclic compounds, 5,6,6a,11-tetrahydro-10-carboxyisoindolo[2,1-a]quinolines, in moderate yields. The influence of the acid and the reaction temperature on the cyclization reactions are also discussed.     

Diels-Alder reaction of optically active (E)-γ-keto-α,β-unsaturated p-tolylsulfoxides with cyclopentadiene

The Diels-Alder reaction of enantiomerically pure (E)-γ-keto-α,β-unsaturated p-tolylsulphoxides 3 with cyclopentadiene give four easily separable diastereomers. The effect of several Lewis acids on the reaction was studied, finding a high endo selectivity with respect to the carbonyl group and moderate π-diastereoselectivity using BF₃·Et₂O as catalyst. The reactivity of compounds 3 as well as their endo selectivity are both higher than those observed for the corresponding (E)-3-sulfinylacrylates.

Über Reaktionen von Arylbiguaniden mit Benzoin beimpH der Biguanidbasen

Summary Arylbiguanides2 a–e react with benzoin (1) at thepH of the base to two different products.1 undergoes in presence of the base2 a–e oxidation to benzil and benzoic acid, which reacts fast with the arylbiguanides2 a–e to yield N-[4-(arylamino)-6-phenyl-1,3,5-triazine-2-yl]benzamides3 a–d. After lowering thepH of the reaction mixture, the bases2 b–e react with benzil to yield 2-[1-aryl-5-oxo-4,4-diphenyl-2-imidazoline-2-yl]guanidine4 b–e. The mechanism of the formation is discussed. The structure of4b was established from a single crystal x-ray structure analysis. The analysis was carried out at 100K: C₂₃H₂₁N₅O,M _r=383.5, monoclinic, C 2/c,a=15.842(6),b=8.419(3),c=30.223(10) Å, =98.44(3)°,V=3 987.3(9) ų,Z=8,d _x=1.277 g/cm³, =0.81 cm^–1,R=5.89%R _w=4.97% (1 537 observations, 233 parameters).

     

Stereoisomeric flavor compounds,part LVIII: The use of heptakis(2,3-di-O-methyl-6-O-tert-butyldimethylsilyl)-β-cyclodextrin as a chiral stationary phase in flavor analysis

The characteristics of the new chiral stationary phase heptakis(2,3-di-O-methyl-6-O-tert-butyldimethylsilyl)-β-cyclodextrin are outlined and compared with permethyl- and perethyl-β-cyclodextrins.     

Preparation and fungitoxicity of 3-bromo-6-chloro- and 6-bromo-3-chloro-8-quinolinols

Summary 3-Bromo-6-chloro- and 6-bromo-3-chloro-8-nitro, -8-amino-, and -8-hydroxyquinolines along with 3-bromo- and 3-chloroquinolin-6,8-diols were prepared and tested for antifungal activity against six fungi (Aspergillus niger, A. oryzae, Myrothecium verrucaria, Trichoderma viride, Mucor cirinelloides, Trichophyton mentagrophytes) inSabouraud dextrose broth. Compounds with chlorine in the 3 position were generally more fungitoxic than the corresponding analogues with bromine. 6-Bromo-3-chloro-8-quinolinol inhibited four fungi at levels below 1 µg/ml andA. niger andM. cirinelloides at 2 µg/ml each.

Zusammenfassung 3-Brom-6-chlor- und 6-Brom-3-chlor-8-nitro-, -8-amino- und -8-hydroxychinoline sowie 3-Brom- und 3-Chlorchinolin-6,8-diole wurden hergestellt und gegen sechs Pilzstämme (Aspergillus niger, A. oryzae, Myrothecium verrucaria, Trichoderma viride, Mucor cirinelloides, Trichophyton mentagrophytes) inSabouraud-Dextrosenährmedium auf lhre fungizide Aktivität untersucht. Verbindungen mit Chlor in Position 3 sind durchwegs fungitoxischer als die entsprechenden Bromanalogen. 6-Brom-3-chlor-8-chinolinol hemmt das Wachstum von vier Pilzen bei Konzentrationen unter 1 µg/ml und das vonA. niger undM. cirinelloides bei einer Konzentration von jeweils 2 µg/ml.

     

Synthesis and X-ray study of a bis-diphenylboron chelate of 3-(diaminomethylene)pentane-2,4-dione

A bis-diphenylboron chelate has been synthesized from 3-(diaminomethylene)pentane-2,4-dione through the action of (butylthio)diphenylborane and its molecular and crystal structures have been determined. 本文提出了一种快速、简便、灵敏检测痕量多胺的新方法。用对酞内酰胺苯甲酰氯同多胺进行柱前衍生反应,以反相高效液相色谱定量测定多胺含量。在4～500 pmol范围内有良好的定量线性关系,腐胺、精脒和精胺的检测限均为0.1 pmol。     

A Transparent Thin Film with Hexagonal Mesostructure Containing Rhodamine 6G

A transparent this film was prepared by depositing the sol-gel mixture for the synthesis of MCM-41 mesoporous molecular sieve doped with rhodamine 6G(R6G) dye on glass substrates. The film of silica-surfactant-R6G materials, which was identified to possess hexagonally ordered mesostructure,was composed of nanocrystallites about 35 nm in diameter and 1-10μm in thickness. Cleanness of the substrates, concentration of the sol-gel mixture and rate of evaporation of the solvent were the key factors affecting transparency and homogeneity of the film. Moreover,optical change and lack in dye aggregation were observed to the R6G-functionalized MCM-41 thin film in contrast with that in ethanol solution.     

Addition of 1,2- and 1,3-Dithiols to 2-alkoxypropenals - a New Method for the Production of Substituted Dithiacycloalkanes

The reaction of 2-alkoxypropenals with ethane-1,2-dithiols and propane-1,3-dithiols under various conditions was studied by ¹H NMR and chromato-mass spectrometry. Under kinetically controlled conditions at 20° in the absence of catalysts the addition of dithiols takes place according to the Markovnikov rule. The primary adducts are unstable and are quickly converted into the corresponding substituted 1,4-dithiacycloheptane or 1,4-dithiane. The latter in turn can be converted under the reaction conditions or at high temperature into a thiolane derivative. The reaction of 2-ethoxypropenal with a twofold excess of ethane-1,2-dithiol at 60°C in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid leads to 2-methyl-2,2'-bi(dithiolane)
