The controlled crystallization of enantiomers of an organic compound (a cyclic phosphoric acid derivative) on templated micro‐patterned functionalised surfaces is demonstrated. Areas where a complementary chiral thiol has been located were effective heterogeneous nucleation centres when a solution of the compound is evaporated slowly. Various organic solvents were employed, which present a challenge with respect to other examples when water is used. The solvent and the crystallization method have an important influence on the crystal growth of these compounds. When chloroform was employed, well‐defined crystals grow away from the surface, whereas crystals grow in the plane from solutions in isopropanol. In both cases, nucleation is confined to the polar patterned regions of the surface, and for isopropanol growth is largely limited within the pattern, which shows the importance of surface chemistry for nucleation and growth. The apparent dependence on the enantiomer used in the latter case could imply stereo‐differentiation as a result of short‐range interactions (the templating monolayer is disordered, even at the nanometre scale). The size of the pattern of chiral monolayer also determines the outcome of the crystallization; 5 μm dots are most effective. Despite the low surface tension of the samples (relative to the high surface tension of water), differential solvation of the polar and hydrophobic layers of the solvents allows crystallization in the polar regions of the monolayer, therefore the polarity of the regions in which heterogeneous nucleation takes place is indeed very important. Despite the complex nature of the crystallization process, these results are an important step towards to the use of patterned surfaces for heterogeneous selective nucleation of enantiomers.  相似文献

Three new organic semiconductors, in which either two methoxy units are directly linked to a dibenzotetrathiafulvalene (DB‐TTF) central core and a 2,1,3‐chalcogendiazole is fused on the one side, or four methoxy groups are linked to the DB‐TTF, have been synthesised as active materials for organic field‐effect transistors (OFETs). Their electrochemical behaviour, electronic absorption and fluorescence emission as well as photoinduced intramolecular charge transfer were studied. The electron‐withdrawing 2,1,3‐chalcogendiazole unit significantly affects the electronic properties of these semiconductors, lowering both the HOMO and LUMO energy levels and hence increasing the stability of the semiconducting material. The solution‐processed single‐crystal transistors exhibit high performance with a hole mobility up to 0.04 cm2 V?1 s?1 as well as good ambient stability.  相似文献

Nitrogen‐doped reduced graphene oxide (N‐doped RGO) samples with a high level of doping, up to 13 wt. %, have been prepared by annealing graphene oxide under a flow of pure ammonia. The presence of nitrogen within the structure of RGO induces a remarkable increase in the thermal stability against oxidation by air. The thermal stability is closely related with the temperature of synthesis and the nitrogen content. The combustion reaction of nitrogen in different coordination environments (pyridinic, pyrrolic, and graphitic) is analyzed against a graphene fragment (undoped) from a thermodynamic point of view. In agreement with the experimental observations, the combustion of undoped graphene turns out to be more spontaneous than when nitrogen atoms are present.  相似文献

Two sets of o‐carborane derivatives incorporating fluorene and anthracene fragments as fluorophore groups have been successfully synthesized and characterized, and their photophysical properties studied. The first set, comprising fluorene‐containing carboranes 6 – 9 , was prepared by catalyzed hydrosilylation reactions of ethynylfluorene with appropriate carboranylsilanes. The compound 1‐[(9,9‐dioctyl‐fluorene‐2‐yl)ethynyl]carborane ( 11 ) was synthesized by the reaction of 9,9‐dioctyl‐2‐ethynylfluorene and decaborane (B10H14). Furthermore, reactions of the lithium salt of 11 with 1 equivalent of 4‐(chloromethyl)styrene or 9‐(chloromethyl)anthracene yielded compounds 12 and 13 . Members of the second set of derivatives, comprising anthracene‐containing carboranes, were synthesized by reactions of monolithium or dilithium salts of 1‐Me‐1,2‐C2B10H11, 1‐Ph‐1,2‐C2B10H11, and 1,2‐C2B10H12 with 1 or 2 equivalents of 9‐(chloromethyl)anthracene, respectively, to produce compounds 14 – 16 . In addition, 2 equivalents of the monolithium salts of 1‐Me‐1,2‐C2B10H11 (Me‐o‐carborane) and 1‐Ph‐1,2‐C2B10H11 (Ph‐o‐carborane) were reacted with 9,10‐bis(chloromethyl)anthracene to produce compounds 17 and 18 , respectively. Fluorene derivatives 6 – 9 exhibit moderate fluorescence quantum yields (32–44 %), whereas 11 – 13 , in which the fluorophore is bonded to the Ccluster (Cc), show very low emission intensity (6 %) or complete fluorescence quenching. The anthracenyl derivatives containing the Me‐o‐carborane moiety exhibit notably high fluorescence emissions, with ?F=82 and 94 %, whereas their Ph‐o‐carborane analogues are not fluorescent at all. For these compounds, we have observed a correlation between the Cc?Cc bond length and the fluorescence intensity in CH2Cl2 solution, comparable to that observed for previously reported styrene‐containing carboranes. Thus, our hypothesis is that for systems of this type the fluorescence may be tuned and even predicted by changing the substituent on the adjacent Cc.  相似文献

The mechanism of copper‐mediated Sonogashira couplings (so‐called Stephens–Castro and Miura couplings) is not well understood and lacks clear comprehension. In this work, the reactivity of a well‐defined aryl‐CuIII species ( 1 ) with p‐R‐phenylacetylenes (R=NO2, CF3, H) is reported and it is found that facile reductive elimination from a putative aryl‐CuIII‐acetylide species occurs at room temperature to afford the Caryl?Csp coupling species ( IR ), which in turn undergo an intramolecular reorganisation to afford final heterocyclic products containing 2H‐isoindole ( P , P , PHa ) or 1,2‐dihydroisoquinoline ( PHb ) substructures. Density Functional Theory (DFT) studies support the postulated reductive elimination pathway that leads to the formation of C?Csp bonds and provide the clue to understand the divergent intramolecular reorganisation when p‐H‐phenylacetylene is used. Mechanistic insights and the very mild experimental conditions to effect Caryl?Csp coupling in these model systems provide important insights for developing milder copper‐catalysed Caryl?Csp coupling reactions with standard substrates in the future.  相似文献

A bridge between classical organic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) and closo borohydride clusters is established by showing that they share a common origin regulated by the number of valence electrons in an electronic confined space. Application of the proposed electronic confined space analogy (ECSA) method to archetypal PAHs leads to the conclusion that the 4n+2 Wade–Mingos rule for three‐dimensional closo boranes is equivalent to the (4n+2)π Hückel rule for two‐dimensional PAHs. More importantly, use of ECSA allows design of new interesting fused closo boranes which can be a source of inspiration for synthetic chemists.  相似文献

The effect of solvent reaction fields and oriented electric fields on the Kemp elimination reaction between methylamine or imidazole and 5-nitrobenzisoxazole has been theoretically studied. The Kemp reaction is the most widely used for the design of new enzymes. Our results, using the SMD continuous model for solvents, are in quite good agreement with the experimental fact that the rate of the analogous reaction with butylamine is one order of magnitude smaller in water than in acetonitrile. In the case of external electric fields, our results show that they can increase or decrease the energy barrier depending on the magnitude and orientation of the field. A duly oriented electric field may have a notable catalytic effect on the reaction. So, external electric fields and reaction fields due to the medium can contribute to the design of new enzymes. Several factors that must be taken into account to increase the catalytic effect are discussed.  相似文献

Calcium oxalate can be found in humans as kidney stones and in cultural heritage as films in two crystallographic species, dihydrate (COD/weddellite) and/or monohydrate (COM/whewellite). Due to its instability, COD is transformed into COM. Studying this crystalline conversion provides information about the origin of the monohydrated species, which will help in the assessment of prevention measurements to avoid their formation. In the present study, the synthesis of calcium oxalate hydrate microcrystals has been carefully performed to avoid mixture of phases in the final products; the long and short range order structure of both species have been studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), respectively. This structural information was considered in the density functional theory (DFT) computational study performed to assign the characteristic vibrational IR and Raman frequencies found. This detailed characterization allows an unambiguous assignment of the vibrations, thus providing the appropriate parameters required to monitor and characterize the transformation process.  相似文献

Poisson's ratio in viscoelastic materials is a function of time. However, recently developed waterhammer models of viscoelastic pipes consider it constant. This simplifying assumption avoids cumbersome calculations of double convolution integrals which appear if Poisson's ratio is time-dependent. The present research develops a mathematical model taking the time dependency of Poisson's ratio into account for linear viscoelastic pipes. Poisson's ratio is written in terms of relaxation function and bulk modulus which is assumed to be constant. The relaxation function is obtained from creep function given as the viscoelastic property data of pipe material. The results obtained from the present waterhammer model are compared with the experimental data for two different flow rates. The comparison reveals that with the application of the time-dependent Poisson's ratio and unsteady friction, the viscoelastic data of mechanical tests can directly be used for waterhammer analysis with less need for the calibration of the flow configuration. It was also shown that the creep curve calibrated based on the present model is closer to the actual creep curve than that calibrated based on previous models.  相似文献
