Preparation of GaN-based cross-sectional TEM specimens by laser lift-off

Laser lift-off (LLO) technology is successfully used to prepare GaN-based TEM cross-sectional specimens. Detailed procedures of the method to prepare the specimens are demonstrated. Large thin areas suitable for TEM analysis were obtained. TEM images of the resulting GaN interface are studied, and the changes in structural quality are confined to approximately the first 250 nm of the epilayer. Clear TEM images of the whole epilayer and the InGaN quantum wells and the HRTEM images of the superlattice layer are demonstrated, showing that LLO is a quick and ideal method to study the crystal structure of the epilayer, especially if only the upper layers are of interest.     

Influence of indenter tip geometry on elastic deformation during nanoindentation

Nanoindentation with a Berkovich indenter is commonly used to investigate the mechanical behavior of small volumes of materials. To date, most investigators have made the simplifying assumption that the tip is spherical. In reality, indenter tips are much more complex. Here, we develop a new method to describe the tip shape using the experimentally determined area function of the indenter at small depths (0-100 nm). Our analysis accurately predicts the elastic load-displacement curve and allows the theoretical strength of a material to be determined from pop-in data. Application of our new method to single crystal Cr3Si shows that the predicted theoretical strengths are within 12% of the ideal strength G/2pi, where G is the shear modulus.

Characterization of piezoelectric materials with large piezoelectric and electromechanical coupling coefficients

The relaxor based ferroelectric (1-x)Pb(Zn(1/3)Nb(2/3))O(3)-xPbTiO(3) and (1-x)Pb(Mg(1/3)Nb(2/3))O(3)-xPbTiO(3) single crystals provided new challenges in property characterization because their extraordinarily large piezoelectric coefficients and electromechanical coupling coefficients. Large errors may occur in some of the derived material constants using conventional characterization techniques. This paper will analyze the inadequacy of the traditional characterization methods and provide some basic guidelines for properly characterizing piezoelectric materials with extremely high piezoelectric and electromechanical coupling coefficients.     

Productive utilization of chlorobenzene: palladium-catalyzed selective oxidation of alcohols

电磁超声界面回波瞬时图谱分析与神经网络识别

针对钢板背后多层橡胶粘接结构,选择较佳实验频率值作为电磁声换能器的激励源频率。提取了检测回波的瞬时振幅、瞬时相位和瞬时频率三种瞬时参数,将瞬时参数构成三维瞬时图谱定性识别不同粘接状态。将敏感时间窗内的平均瞬时参数组成特征向量,利用BP神经网络进行识别,对训练集与测试集的识别结果表明,该方法可以实现电磁超声界面回波的自动识别与分类,识别正确率不低于95%。     

Broadband dispersion compensation using microstructure fibers

Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Beijing 100876Dispersion and dispersion slope compensation of 10-Gb/s pulses using microstructure fibers (MFs) is demonstrated experimentally. A 26-m MF is used to compensate the dispersion of 2-km standard singe mode fiber in a 20-nm range in C band. The experimental results show that a significant improvement can be achieved in the quality of the observed pulses with the dispersion compensation. Moreover, the further research shows that the MF can compensate the anomalous dispersion of a single mode fiber within ±0.27 ps/(nm·km) over a 50-nm wavelength range from 1520 to 1570 nm.

Isodon enanderianus (Hand. -Mazz.) H. W. Li, has been used in folk medicine as anti-inflammatory and detoxified agent1. Structure of a rosin–itaconic acid adduct from 2D NMR spectroscopy data

We have used two-dimensional correlation NMR spectroscopy to study the structure of a new derivative of resin acids isolated from a rosin–itaconic acid adduct. We have established that the synthesized compound is the product of addition of citraconic anhydride to levopimaric acid, the structure of which is close to the structure of maleopimaric acid.
